I found that blogger wouldn't let me use the Post2Blog, stating they don't support third party software.
I was very disappointed!

Excellent! Honestly - as a long term blogger I have tried them all and this beats them all - hands down. The Flickr options are the best I have ever seen for blogging purposes - I would have bought this prog. Keep up the good work - more like it!

To the "Advanced Specialist", No I'm just one of me. And what are you and advanced specialist in? Now that you've revealed to me the capital opportunities awaiting the world from bloggers, my comment is the same. This software (if it's really for sale for 39 bucks) has to be a joke, OK? It is totally unremarkable and you can get the same type software for free. What's with the fawning whining about people that simply point out that an app is priced outside the market value for this type of software? Sure there's a sucker born every minute, and some fool will probably pay for this. Must have more money than brains, that's all. Half the posts neglect the cost effectivness of paying a fair bit for something that's available at multiple sources for less, or free. I love buying software. But not throwing my money at any fool that asks for it. Something like Picasa, now there's an app that is worth paying for, but it's free. I have Corel Photo album and Snapfire, which came along with other paid for software and Picasa is every bit as good and in some respects better than those two paid programs. The simple fact is that this is NOT worth the stated price to me or anybody that takes price into account. If you are insistant on paying for a blogging app there are plenty that are better and cheaper than this one. I like this site despite the sometimes overstated values it places on it's programs. Rant on all you like, it won't make this worth 39 dollars no matter how much you blab on about the present and future software market.

I was not able to get my Blogger account to work. I know that Google recently changed it so you now log into blogger using your gmail account, which I can do. But when I put in my gmail account and password, the program just says its a bad username/password. Anyone else get it working with the new blogger/gmail login?

I visit GOD every day, Sometimes whats offerd isn't something I would use. But I will still download it and see what the program offers. If I like it I keep it, if I don't then I delete it. If I find a bug I will post something about it. So many complain about GOD. I don't know why, I personally love the site, and appriciate the hard work that the staff does on this site. I know its not easy to come up with a program to give away every day. It sure beats downloading a program and useing it and have a nag screen pop up in 15 days telling you the program has expired and you must now buy it. Everyone screaming foul needs to get a grip, They do a great job here providing programs for us to download and try. Just because it may not be what you need, give them time. From what I have seen in the last month, what you want or need may just come around.
The programs may not be by a major company, but this site is young, give it time and in the future companies may be bending over backwards to have there programs on the site. I think GOD is a great idea, If you don't like it no one is forceing you to come here. I am sure that the few thats complaining don't make a hill of beans to the ones that actually appriciate the site and what they are doing.
Thanks GOD keep up the great work and thanks for the opertunity to try out some programs I may of never even thought of checking out.

Thanks so much GAOTD. I've have been looking everywhere for something like this, because I am still pretty new to blogging and I'm not ready for WordPress or any other self-making blogging software and hosting myself. This is a great stepping stone for me!! The only thing that could make this (and other GAOTD software) better would be to have Mac versions or similar programs, because I have a Macbook Pro for a laptop and a PC for a desktop. I like having the versatility. Blessings to you.

Am happy with this little gem! Except for the pop up that says my trial version will expire in 29 days!

I've just set up a new Blogger (post-beta) account and this little honey posted right to it, plus allowed me to ping a bunch of services, add technorati tags, has a nice little editor that's as good as/better than the old w.bloggar, and has some interesting features like QuickSnippets.

When I set up my Blogger acount it selected from a list of 20 or more blogtypes, including LJ, Drupal, MT, b2, Xoops, Squarespace, Nucleus, PostNuke, BlogCMS and more!

My next task is to see how well it deals with editing posts on my very finicky Drupal site. But for all you who are wondering if this is any good, I say YES, it is!

Again to Advance Specialist: you are extremely annoying. And no...i actually haven't paid for water. Not a big water drinker. Also...you don't need to blog to survive. People, people, people... IT'S FREE!!! QUIT YOUR WHINING!!! I love being able to take software for a non-crippleware spin. Sure, if I hosed my hard drive I would have to pay full price for the stuff that I like that I got for free here. But, I'm not complaining. I have tons of shelfware, crap I paid a lot for that I never use. I figure, if I am still using some of this stuff regularly by the time my next reformat time arrives, I'll buy it. I'm going to take this latest offering for a spin, use it a bit and see if it is useful. If it isn't useful for ME, well, at least I didn't have to pay for it. If you don't like what this site has to offer... so what? It's all free. I have useless software that I paid hundreds of dollars for. Most of what I have downloaded from here, I end up not using, but it's really cool to be able to fully test drive the stuff. I use a few apps regularly. I'm very happy with this site. THANKS!

To #19 "The Advanced Specialist," in case you were wondering I am not peter jaxon. And in my defense all I can say is,"I'm deeeeply sorry if I offended you Mother." Ok, so maybe serious bloggers WOULD by the program. Jeez, calm down dude you don't have to take it so personally. Lol. Where you the one who authored the program? Just wondering, cuz it must have taken a long time to write your defense of that program in your comment. Could have used all that time it to study for that big exam you have tomorrow. Lol. Anyways, my appologies if I sounded like such a naysayer. I do think though, that GOTD is doing a good job with this whole give away thing. They have given many good programs away in the past. I just don't see any particular good use for this one at this time. But now that you mention it I guess it would be pretty useful to quite a bit of people.

Ahem, well, keep up the good work GOTD. I'll be back tomorrow to see what software you'll be givin out next.

#17 Fried Toast, joining Advanced Specialist to congratulate you on a great post especially this sentence:
"For all of the naysayers, I think your sense of entitlement is, frankly, just shy of disgusting."

Really sums it up in a nutshell. Some posters sound like overly-pampered spoiled rotten brats who think the world revolves about them. Nothing wrong with critiquing individual pieces of software but those who are never pleased with any of the offers are likely never pleased with anything at all. 'Course what they don't realize is they make everyone around them as miserable as they are, you'd think they'd catch on after all the enthusiastic 'goodbyes' they must get in life.

Another piece of software destroyed by the wingers that can't use it, the way I see it is if you can use it then thats all well and good but if you cant like me then don't site there and complain about the software on offer for FREE just because it doesn't suit you, I have no use for this software but Im not going to winge about it, maybe tomorrows offering is something I could use, my posting comes late because of the time difference, when I get up here in Australia I look at these comments to help decide if I can use the program and all I see is people venting their tantrums, use the comments for what it was intended for, not personal slanders against GOTD,or even better, go and get a life.

Ummm... guys? I've got a great idea, which you can take or leave. If you don't like the idea behind the app, don't download it. By extension, if you download it, but it doesn't do what you want, then uninstall it. If you feel you must say something, say "Hm. Doesn't fit my needs. Thanks, though".

Lay into it only if it crashes your machine, or has spyware or a virus or something. (And usually they're pretty good about that.)

As others have commented above, the sense of entitlement here is astonishing. I haven't downloaded a number of the apps, because I have programs that do the same thing, or because I don't need them. No harm, no foul. It's literally a free sample, left for you to take... or not. The theory is, if you like this, maybe you'll like something else the company does.

You want "useful" software? You want software that's free? You obviously know where to look, because you keep saying, "Program X does this already". Fine. USE Program X. But please quit complaining about GAOTD just because you don't like today's flavor of free candy.

Thanks gaotd for the hard work. Free has never been a waste of time for me to check in to. Personally, I have enjoyed these past few months looking at the first posters. The rest of the days comments (I check this site late in the day) are quite entertaining. It is well worth checking the comment threads at the end of the day to relieve the stress of the day with some humor. Thank you also to all you posters who actually give positive critiques of the software. I learn much from all of you. I have come across some wonderful alternates to the giveaway because of your expertise. Free is great, whether here or elsewhere. To all--keep up the great work. And you not so positive posters, keep up the great work as well. What a humor release at the end of a hard day. ;}

I've looked into this one as well as Microsoft Live Writer, here's what I found.

- MS Live Writer has the better look and feel, but the current version is flawed and buggy; Post2Blog is much more reliable.
- Specifically, with Post2Blog you can download and edit previous posts past the tag in Wordpress. You cannot do this in MS Live Writer as of this writing (2/6/2007)
- Post2Blog supports WYSiWYG tables straight from the interface; MS Live Writer currently does not.
- Although MS Live Writer has a nicer interface for working with images, post2blog allows me to post small-sized thumbnails, while MS LiveWriter posts big pictures (in terms of kilobytes) that are scaled down in pixel size. In this, Post2Blog meets my needs much better that MS Live Writer.

In the long term, Microsoft Live Writer will supercede this product, and it has the distinct advantage of being 100% free. For the time being, I have installed and am using Post2Blog. Get it while you can.

A review of Microsoft Live Writer on my blog: http://freewaregenius.com/2007/02/02/windows-live-writer/

YES! I AGREE! The Bladed Thoth ROCKS!
That's great of you to write up a review of every program.
Great job! And thanks to Drakakakakakis for pointing that out.

#38 Drakakis WROTE:
I’ll be adding Bladed Thoth (and, what’s the origin of that name?).

-- Hmmm... Let's see. What could be the Top answers as to the origin of the name Thoth?

1. Isn't that a little slow-moving 3 toe'd creature that hangs upside down in the rainforest?

2. Or, an ancient mythological egyptian god with the head of a bird

3. One of thoths things that flieths into a lightbulb.

4. Or, Where are you from? Depending on where you are from, you could be "Worcestershire Thoth", "Thoy Thoth", or even "Thpaghetti Thoth" (my personal favorite)

In any case, thanks for the REVIEWS! You rock, Thoth-man!
(Hmm..Just like the profecy?)

In any case, I 2nd the plug for your page:

I am impressed by some of the features, the built in amazon associates linking, adsense, and the in particular the way it cleans up ms word html tags. It does need a find and replace feature to further clean it. I am very impressed by the fullness of features. I also like the ease of copying a post from one blog to another.

#27 JOHN SCHOP WROTE: Hey, Advanced Specialist. Why don’t you just admit that the last couple of giveaways have been lame?

-Hoe gaat het, ermee, John. Nope. I admit to nothing. LOL. :-)

#27 JOHN SCHOP WROTE: Yes, I am a blogger, and yes, I do use an Apache Server myself. But I would never pay for these programs,

--*Ahem*. You didn't pay for these programs.

#27 JOHN SCHOP WROTE: and I do not want them for free either,

--*Uhm*. You don't have to download them, John, if you don't want them. No one is Forcing You to. lol. You don't even have to visit this site if you don't like it. You can stay over on your own comfy site all warm, snug, and happy. And then you won't have to take up any time commenting either! I think it will remove a lot of stress from your life, too.

#27 JOHN SCHOP WROTE: just for the simple reason that I can get something similar and probably better for totally free.

-- This was free. But Ok. If you want to use something from some other site. Then go do it. Nothing's keeping you. lol.

#27 JOHN SCHOP WROTE: That has nothing to do with growing your own apples.

--You're right. This is even easier. and Faster too.

#27 JOHN SCHOP WROTE: Downloading and installing a free program is just as much work as doing this,

--Aaagh! You're right. It's such hard work. I clicked the mouse 3 times and I'm exhausted. Whew! I need a rest. ...Back to my floatation tank. After 8 hours I'll do a test and see if I can lift a finger. If not, I am going to complain to GiveAwayoftheDay for tiring me out. I can't be expected to do all this *downloading* every single day. And it's all their fault. ;)

#27 JOHN SCHOP WROTE: and sometimes even less, because configuring this stuff is not always easy. The comparison with growing your own apples would make sense if people would try to code their own stuff rather than download it.

--You're right, it's More like somebody else did all the planting and growing, and you just came and picked it. lol.

Het beste.

As a tech-support girl for a fairly popular blogging software, I wish all our users would download and use this program. It's great - easy to use, full of features, lets you post from Word, uploads pictures automatically, and takes all the oops out of posting (yea, who knew there could be oops in posting?!).

if this were ebay, i would give it an A+++++++ :)

In keeping with the reason for this feedback area, which is to leave feedback about the software only, I am writing to say this is a very useful software program for anyone who keeps a blog, especially if you keep more than one. Thank you very much for providing something so useful. I realize it must be difficult to please everyone, but you offer enough diversity in products that everyone is sure to find something they need or can use at some point.

I especially appreciate this particular product. It's easy to use, and seeing as I have blogs on several sites, it's nice to have ONE program that allows me to access them all. Frees up space on my hard drive for other things, and allows me to post without having to log into each and every website.

Thank you. :)

Wonder if this happened to anyone else? The Firefox add-on was associated with Netscape, which of course couldn't open it. I just changed the association in the .xpi file properties & it installed without a hitch.

Heck of an oversight, though--or was it some weird & evil joke that Windows XP cooked up?

Right on Mr-BT (#31) -- well said! I'm very thankful for this site, whether I can use the applications or not. I check this and the game giveaway site daily. Hmm I could have used this. Does this support msn live?

Reasons why people would use these applications:
1) Time consuming, website logins.
2) Easier documentation and cross-updating offline.
3) Can reupload if website via browser fails to update your blog.
4) Sometimes people don't like visiting their blog.
5) It's time saving, and precisely formulated for the blogging, has integrated word functionality seems good. Hey it has smilies too. :)

Although blogging is an on and off *hot* subject. People will find this application useful whether for further assistance in the future or currently it's and indispensable application to possess.

6) It would be nice if this application could offer you direct some other features like automatic sign up on to blogs. Blog tips.

7) The website is great and packed with guides and tutorials, KCSOFTWARES, yesterday's developers might want to take note of how to create a website that attracts an audience, and that products that have a price tag should have several features to gain interest and market value.

8) It's being offered for free now, so all you irregular bloggers have it on your table to grab for free.

9) *You Never Know What May Come in handy in the future*

Things it might need: none that I can think of at the moment.

10) Have a nice day.

And yeah - so nice not to see the worthless "1st to post" comments :)

Again, I think that GOTD should reserve the right automatically to remove comments that have nothing to do with the software. The comment about entitlement was perfect!

Today's software looks very useful for those who have blogs and I intend to let some people of my acquaintance know about it.

I hope the word of mouth of the "silent majority" as another commenter stated will outweigh the negativity of the "whiners" in the comments sections on this site.

In most forums about softwares I've read (in which adults and serious users make comments) the contributions have some substance and critical judgment behind them. "Pretty lame" is neither helpful nor useful to anyone.

Thanks GOTD for a wonderful site!

Has anyone else noticed? There aren't any 'I'm first!' comments! It's wonderful!!!

I still come to this site everyday, but have only download one 2 apps and kept one, I really liked the True Launch bar, although very simular to Quick Launch, you can creat sub folders and all that. How ever most of these programs just arent for me because a: I already have something installed that does the exact same stuff, b: it is pointless to have. I do appreciate the work GOTD does! Obviously since as I said before I am here everyday, even if I am not downloading the apps, I still learn about them. Without this site I wouldn't have a damn clue about 95% of the apps up here!

SO THANK YOU!!!!!! :D
