I think I have an Idea for this site, change it to "Giveaway of the Week" and stop giving us apps which have better freeware alternatives or were written by a UNI student for a project. Also, on the topic of the Video converters....we dont need any more :P

As for this, I administer an apache web server for a corporate intranet, in the 3 years I have been in this role, I have never had a problem and never looked in the logs. I am sure if there were a problem, I could open up google, type in the error code and find my solution...i see no need for this tool

"I find this site just as useful when people post links to alternatives to the offered software that are always free and/or open source." I agree. Some software that I'm unable to try right now might be bested by an upgrade of an "always free" alternative.

That's just a rip-off of a software company. Bad website design and average, to below-par software that has an extremely exaggerated price tag. KC SOFTWARES - *THUMBS DOWN*

Well, with all the complaining that's going on, wouldn't it be better to select what you can use and be grateful that it's free?
There are other people who may appreciate the programs you can't use. So, can I respectfully suggest that if you can't make a constructive analysis of the program without being unkind, don't make one at all. A constructive criticism may be to point out a fault, but not to bag the whole thing.
Thank you very much GOTD. I have some useful programs from you.

Ye Haaaa.....number 31 to comment, I slept allnight without a care in the world what number comment I would be, I didn't install so I have no comment, already has a bad rap so I need not say anything and as #4 said keep the comments to the software, this is my first post and I look at the comments and think how immature some people are to think that being the first to comment is the highlight of their life, I use the comments to help decide if I could use the software on offer and thankyou to the people that put these programs on for free even though some of it is not worthy.

Completely agree with A Verage in comment #19. This program may be free today but putting out a simple log monitoring program that's normally $30 for Apache, a free and open source server, is a cheesy thing to do.

The developer would have done better to freely contribute to the open source community that developed and maintains Apache, gained a reputation there first, and then saved "for sale" for unrelated projects. Not to mention $30 is steep for a log monitor.

I agree that I think the audience for this is very small and not typical of the average d/l'er here.

As to #4, if you can always be the 1st, why weren't you today?
Also, where's YOUR comment on the s/w??? :P

For those of you saying there are better open source programs, can you please back up your post with a link that shows us what they are? I find this site just as useful when people post links to alternatives to the offered software that are always free and/or open source.

There are many "OPEN SOURCE" alternatives to this. I dont think i will pay money for a app to manage a free app. Donate, mostly yes...cough up, NEVER!!!

Hello all! My 15 Minute Review (15MR) is up again! It is a brief review as since I do not have a good logfile to use with it, but I do point out a few key points nonetheless.

Those who use Apache on Windows may find it useful, for everyone else, it's a dud!

Good point, #19, a trivial accessory at the full price (it's just a log viewer) for an open source project is an insult to the higher principles of open source.

Just wanted to add that Apache is a n open source project and there's a very big team working on it for the last 7 years FOR FREE. Here's how they put it themselves:

"The Apache HTTP Server Project is a collaborative software development effort aimed at creating a robust, commercial-grade, featureful, and freely-available source code implementation of an HTTP (Web) server. The project is jointly managed by a group of volunteers located around the world, using the Internet and the Web to communicate, plan, and develop the server and its related documentation. This project is part of the Apache Software Foundation. In addition, hundreds of users have contributed ideas, code, and documentation to the project."

So don't you find it a bit "out off spirit" when someone writes a small 'Apache monitoring tool' and sells it for 30 bucks?

just my 2c

- What a world of difference with the program from yesterday. Kudos for diversity GOTD!

- The program looks interesting. I probably won't need it because I use Apache very sporadically and then only to test php scripts without going 'on-air'. I wonder how many of GOTD visitors are running Apache server, just curious ;)

- Also, as a matter of observation: Here we have a tiny utility, normally costing 30 us$, to monitor the vast Apache project, which costs 0.-

None of the above is criticism, just comments...

This program is complete crap. It just reads apache error logs and flashes some tab until you press "Accept all" button. And that's all! There is no way you can assemble some statistics or even filter error messages by their type. Someone spent THE WHOLE WEEKEND writing this program. To wastebucket!

JUST COMMENT ON THE SOFTWARE OFFERED. THAT’S WHAT IS IMPORTANT HERE!!

You mean those people actually wake up early JUST to be the first commenter. That's even sadder than I envisaged.

Back to the comments - looks like a very good piece of software, but I don't have Apache so, meh.
