Setup.exe don't function: says "Failed to connect". Please try again later. But says this from two hours at least.

I am having the same problem as Jorge, No. 12. I have tried 3 times. It says it's installed and I'm registered, without putting in the registration key, but I can't find the program anywhere. I tried doing a date search like someone suggested, but I don't find anything installed on today's date. I've never had a problem with any software from GAOTD until now. Can somebody please explain what I need to do? Thank you.

Installed on Windows 7 machine. Registered fine with no problems. Tested on a multi-page text only pdf. Was amazingly fast and opened in notepad. I often have need of portions of articles for research. Nice little program.

Had a case recently where someone brought in a PDF document which had been made at Kinko's, presumably by scanning. We tried four PDF editing or conversion programs on it -- either to edit it directly, or failing that to get back to editable text. All of these programs were free, with the exception of CAD-KAS PDF Editor Pro. None of them could do the job. They either failed outright, or in the case of the latter threw out an error message about not being able to edit something that was in "image format." Admittedly, I don't know much about PDF. But it seems like there must be more than one kind of PDF (?), with some of it getting you into what amounts to a photo-editing situation (?), or where OCR will have to come into play somehow ? I'd like to get a better idea of what it takes to handle that -- preferably in a very direct, straightforward way, without a steep learning curve.

It's normal. Scanned docs in a PDF are just images, like a photo. Therefore they cannot be converted in text. Only PDF made as PDF docs can be converted.

This tool has the same problem as other tools I've tried using. It does not convert accents and my language has a lot of them. File output sample text using PDFtoText33: "que jÃ¡ nÃ£o seriam ouvidas jamais, porque se referiam a situaÃ§Ãµes militares que nÃ£o poderiam..." I need another tool :) Does it exist?

This PDF converter is one that actually works well. The box to drop PDF files into is easy to use, too. The default destination for the converted TXT files is exactly where you had the PDF files. You can also change the destination easily if desired.

There is no reason NOT to get this GEM for your tool box. It simply WORKS. Finally we have one to use.

What kind of program is this? I have two "difficult" PDF files which I use to test PDF software. One is a scanned document, and the other is a digital book. The output for both documents created by PDF to Text were totally blank. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Uninstalled.

I've had the same results, the converted .txt file output by the program is blank, and no file is created in the source directory.

I converted a PDF file and the original was deleted. Output file was saved into the directory that the PDF file was in. Is there an option to keep the original PDF file without coping to another folder in order to save the original?

I've installed it in Windows 7 and activated, but where is it? Not in Program Files, neither in Control Panel, neither in the Desktop. Help please. Thanks.

No app is going to place itself in your control panel. Easy way to check for new programs is to date-sort your program folders (just program and program86) and see what is at the top.

I'm having the same problem. I ran the setup.exe, didn't see anything happen, but a window opened up saying, "PDF to Text 3.3 activated - what next?".

I've looked in Program Files and my Desktop and can't find it anywhere. I even went to Start>>Search and typed in "PDF to Text", but nothing shows up. Then I did a search of my entire C Drive. No luck.

Where is it????

It is in a rather unsuspected location:
"C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\PDF Helper\PDF to Text\PTT.exe"

It's not in either of those locations, guys. And I reinstalled it, following the instructions, THREE times while the Giveaway was active. It simply didn't get installed ANYWHERE!

I guess I'm out of luck. I really wanted to try the program!

Installed on win8.1 64
trial registered with key from readme.
tested a pdf (jpg to pdf) result blank, no ocr there obviously
tested another downloaded from web, txt was shown.
No need for this, you can copy txt from a pdf by selecting it. (and if prohibited, well...)
Reboot, and gone.

I was going to pass on this but then remembered that I had a few software instruction manuals that were in Chinese that I wanted to translate, so put them through this so that I could then paste the text into Google Translate.

Sadly, because the PDF's were password protected, the software was unable to convert them.

But then I tried a laptop user guide and was pleasantly surprised by the results.

I was very sceptical of the claim to be able to try and retain formatting but bearing in mind the constraints that such a task would have, it does a fair job of trying.

Maybe you should try the old copy/paste routine. It's always worked for me.

Just put the cursor into the text at the beginning of what you want to copy and drag to the end. Normally the text should be highlighted. Release at the end and right-click your mouse. wait for the requester and click copy. If there is a lot of text the system may take a few seconds to copy to the clipboard and show a timer or some other small graphic. Wait until it's done. Then go to your text manager and paste the text there.

I use Nitro free to read PDF's and can copy from the program without problem. But I understand the frustration one experiences when copying is made difficult for the end user.

I hope this will help you. If not, I understand the GOTD team has a forum where you can ask questions. There are other forume as well where you could find further help. Use them.

Installed and registered without problems on a Win 10 Pro 64-bit system.

We had had several products from this company, this one I see for the first time.

A small interface opens, you can choose several languages, add a PDF and convert this. In a single column, text does what it claims, it does what it claims also in a multi column text. A small utility for a quick PDF to TXT conversion in simple PDF structures, a useful little helper.
