Downloaded, but may not a be a keeper. I have some other PDF PW remover SW with lifetime licenses, thanks to GAOTD.

We can remove password from PDF files anyway via Print method (if you know the password). So, unless these password removers are capable of removing unknown passwords, they are useless.

I have had several files that I lost the password to, mainly due to losing the P/W file stored on a flash drive which no longer works. Would this program help? or is there anything out that could?

If I go to the XenArmor website (link on the right), it tells me I'm using an outdated version of Firefox and then downloads a Zip file. I'm not actually using Firefox. Seems pretty dodgy.

Most people don't understand that a PDF can have two kinds of password.
- First is the one you would need to open and read the file. The software given here won't remove that, you mostly need brute force to find it and it will take years.
- Second one is the one you would need to edit and make changes in the file, like deleting one page. That is what this software is able to do, like many others can do (online or offline). Another solution in Win10 is simply to print the file using "Microsoft print to pdf", it will built a new pdf file with no editing restriction (bigger file though)

Pdf's can have two distinct passwords levels. One level prevents opening the pdf, unless you know the password. As I understand it, this program does not address that password level.

The second level does not bar anyone from opening and viewing the document, but it does bar one or more various manipulations of the document. Those restrictions can be put on the document by the author or any other person. They are:
Printing
Changing
Assembling
Copying
Extraction
Commenting
Filling in form fields
Signing
Creating a template from the document

As I understand it, this program claims to be able to remove that level of password, so as to give you the ability to make those manipulations.

It works. After activating, I searched Google for a password protected pdf example file (Hint: NovaPDF site).

I ran it through PDF Password Remover Pro to generate a new file, then used PDF Architect 8 (Free) to verify the original downloaded pdf was locked, and the new generated pdf was unlocked.

Sometimes PDF like bank statements have a password to prevent merging files, extracting or deleting pages, printing...
I use Free PDF Password Remover V3.4 from 4dots Software. It is free and works very well.
It won't remove the password to open the file, but will remove editing restrictions.

The note, at the end of the software description, says: " If open password is set then the right password needs to be specified to unlock it."

It is not clear to me what benefit this software brings to the user.

Does this do anything more than the set and remove password function of Adobe Acrobat?

A true password remover has the ability to remove a password that is unknown.

Since ther are so many of these programs out there why does anybody bother with putting passwords on their PDF files ?

Say I have a PDF which I don't have it's password, will this app open it or not?

You need to enter the password, if you want to remove it, else you will have this message:

"Error: Unable to remove password or restrictions. Please try with correct password."

If you want to work with folder with more than 5 files, you will have this message:

"Stopping operation now as maximum limit (5) is reched. Personnal Edition supports up to 5 pdf files in a folder".
