On the right-hand side in the blue area under system requirements and such, I see this at the bottom, "The program is available for $19.99, but it will be free for our visitors as a time-limited offer." This does not state how long the time-limited offer is good through. I think that GAOTD should require the providers of free programs to directly state if this is permanent license or a trial offer and the length of the trial. I can deal with no free updates, or no tech support. I have so many programs that I have downloaded and installed and go back later to find that the trial offer has expired. Had I known that the programs were a limited trial, I would not have downloaded them in the first place because some of this stuff is not something that I would need to use on a daily basis, or even a monthly basis. I am giving this a pass.

I cannot find a prompt to use the registration key either. I certainly cannot see a registration TAB mentioned. Can anyone please help?

Tony,

When I first opened the program after installation, there was a "Registration" tab at the top that I put my name and the code given in the readme.txt file and it worked just fine.

Eric Harden,
Thanks for your reply Eric but your effort to help was fated from the start as the Registration Tab you referred to does not exist as I mentioned in my comment.
So I am still confused about what has gone wrong but no doubt it is too late as the install/reg deadline has expired.
All the best
Tony

Tony, for privat use, you can use this program for free. Maybe go to the site of the developer to get a fresh Setup.

.
I'd like someone to develop an intelligent PDF-to-EPub that strips the published page headers and footers and allows a PDF book to be reformatted, text resized, reflowed, and read in normal ereaders.

Not this.

Free Adobe Acrobat Writer Pro still seems the one to beat, but even it does not convert PDF-to-Epub.

Seems there is a link on the Bytescout page to request a business license.

Does it include OCR for imaged pages

Reply   |   Comment by Dae Powell  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+4)

Dae Powell, It did work here.
I did print a TXT-file(Dutch), scanned it to a .JPG.
https://ootjegotd.stackstorage.com/s/N8QYqbiryeOBvWk
Used Window PDF printer to make a PDF, but is became rotated.
https://ootjegotd.stackstorage.com/s/Dck6nWdjJGtuVuG
Then used the GOTD-program to load the PDF fot OCR and the result was completely wrong.
After that I loaded just the JPG in the program and the result is quite good TXT:

Dae Powell, Here it worked with a scanned image of a text.

Dae Powell, I scanned a typed text to an image.
And that image could be converted to a text-file.

Installed and registered successfully on Win10. I had to disable my anti-virus to install, though.

I tested the "make searchable" function on a locked PDF and it worked well.

Downloaded, extracted and installed fine on a win10-64 machine. Like others have stated copied registration code from readme.txt file and selected registration tab when program opened. pasted code and my name and registration completed. Took a very brief look at a tutorial online but have not yet really used application for much but I seem to be using PDF's more and more and need to extract and manipulate information. So far this seems ot meet my needs in many aspects.

What is offered here, apparently, is a free business license of an otherwise free program. If you don't plan to use it for commercial purposes, you can also download it for free on the publisher's website. Features seem to be identical in the business and free version.

I wasn't aware of Byte Scout, and after browsing their site and some reviews, I very much like the vibe of that company. It is primarily oriented towards developers, but ordinary business or home users may find some gems there too.

PDF Multitool certainly seems to provide some useful and original features. I'm definitely giving it a try.

When PDF Multitool for Business starts, there is absolutely no
place or field where you can register it
with registration key

Mario,
Per the last line in the product description:

"Use the activation key to allow your registration and to run the program for business purposes."

So apparently one must use some sort of activation key only for business?

Magnolia, There's a registration tab, clearly visible . As the text file says, you enter whatever name you want, and the registration key. I did this and, where it used to say "personal use only", it now says the name that I entered. The registration tab is also no longer visible.

HellsBells,

I'm in the same boat. I upgraded from a prior GOTD, and the title on the window says GOTD, but there is NO TAB to register it. Dumb setup!

Reply   |   Comment by Chuck  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Magnolia, I am guessing that you had an earlier version of this program installed, and today's version automatically picked up the registration from your earlier version. And that's why the registration button is not showing.

Also, I have noticed that at the top of the interface window, on the left side, there appears my name (in brackets), the name that I had used to register the previous version of this program on my machine.

Cheers,

consuella

consuella, __ I had the free version installed a long time ago, it was version 7, that said free for non commercial use, and there was a registration tab.
I uninstalled it and then installed the GOTD version. After registering the registration tab disappeared, and my name appeared where it used to say "Non-Commercial Use Only".
If Magnolia wants to see what the original screen looked like, It's shown on this page. I know it's a German site, but the screenshot of the program is in English.

https://www.chip.de/downloads/PDF-Multitool_121853298.html

It could well be that Magnolia has registered it without knowing.

ggraham, I'm not sure why this comment is generating so many negative checks (at least initially as I type this). It *is* funny that a program for business use would be made available on a day when many (most?) who might use it don't have access to the machines they'd use it on. :-) It's something GotD might want to pay attention to for future offerings.
