The problem is that if pdf DPI is less than compressing DPI (120 default) then of course it will make even scanned pdf larger, it think the program should check in advance whether chosen DPI value would compress or enlarge the output file!

It took 10 minutes (rounded) to compress 158 mb, 310 pages, scanned pdf with default options, and i found no way to cancel the conversion process (of course terminating program's process will always do). And the output file is 297 mb?! No, it doesn't seem to work with every scanned pdf only with some.

Doesn't work. I use a 24M pdf file & it come out 113M! (The conversion time > 20min)

I test with ORPALIS PDF Reducer 3.0.11 Free using the same file.
The compressed file size < 8M & conversion time < 2min.
Recommend anyone in need to try ORPALIS

Gave this a try on several PDFs and the results were ranging from fair to absolute rubbish, some of the files were unreadable, while others were blurred. Not only that links within the files didn't work (including hyper-links) making this an excellent piece of software if you didn't really want to read anything or use any links, can't think why anyone would want to use such an amateurish piece of software let alone pay $29.95 for it. Uninstalled.

does not work great. Made the PDF bigger and the print and pictures were very soft and out of focus.

Thanks but no thanks! I used this on a 52kb file which consists of one page with a few links with an explanation for each.
This tool turned the file into an ugly looking fat thing, the links turned unresponsive while the size of the file has tripled to whooping 155kb!
There needs to be invested some serious coding into this piece of whatever. I will continue using freepdfcompressor. Just google it. It's better and also cheaper.

If your PDF contained links then it wasn't an image contained in a PDF.
This is properly why it failed to work as it only works on scanned images.
It would appear that your test was hardly fair.

PDF to IMAGE converter nothing else. 28% compression by default, we can live without it.
It looks like picture out of focus if you compress over 50% and the black letters turn into fuzzy gray.

This kind of "compression" is image resizing, is not the compression in a sense of winzip or winrar once image is compressed it can't be decompressed back to the original size (quality) so if a pdf is already poor quality after compression it won't be better.

Windows 10: Gets a C++ Runtime error during creation of file, then after error OK'ed, and the file is created, program gets a Windows error (the type where Windows closes it and will notify me if a fix is available [ha-ha].) The resulting file lost the PDF bookmarks, the internal links, and the external hyperlinks because it just creates images of the full pages which many programs can do. It did reduce the file size by 40% (I selected 130 ppi), but the result is useless for me.

I've tried it.
It's SO BAD.
It compresses NOTHING.
Even the time it takes to NOT-compress is SO long.
Unacceptable not only as Free Giveaway, but even if they paid me money to use it.

Something is VERY wrong with that software.

indie, I tried on windows 10 64 bits with 10 pdfs of about 100 Mo sized. The result was correct with the default options. The quality was still good despite compression and reduction in size of 65% to 75%. Sometimes the text becomes less readable, but maybe the file had been earlier compressed.
The time of compression depends of the machine used ( good processor and enough memory). For me it was quick enough.
You must compress only scanned pdf (pdf image). Otherwise the result will be disappointing or worse.

I think you have perfectly summarized my opinion about it,
"You must compress only(!) scanned pdf (pdf image). Otherwise You must compress only scanned pdf (pdf image). Otherwise the result will be disappointing or worse."

Let's say, if you have "NOT"-scanned (in my case) pdf. file, then,
"the result will be disappointing or worse.(!)"

In short.
Please use FILEminimizer, and your headache is gone.

I had an 810 KB PDF which was a letter with a corporate logo in the top right corner. The PDF was 5 pages long. With a '70%' compression factor, which it labelled as 'Good', the software took approx 30 seconds and produced a 1085 KB PDF - thats a 24% increase.

Uninstalled. Sticking my fingers in a yoghurt produces better results.

Does what it says on the tin, but very limited, in that it only compresses images that happen to be scanned images in a pdf wrapper. Mixed text/image pdfs (the most common and useful kind as they are searchable) actually get increased in size! Krikes! Scanned image pdfs can have there size compressed at scan time, obviating the needs for this program, so the only use I can see is for compressing scanned image pdfs from a dpi-happy third party... These products usually just re-compress images in a PDF presentation to a high compression level.
This usually destroys the quality of the presentation - I would always prefer quality over space.
According to the comments below, this product even manages to badly recompress some images so they become larger.

Did a quick test on the scanned PDF document and when compressed was slightly larger.
My Canon scanner does not scan to an image file but does an OCR on the document producing an editable PDF.
I had thought that a one trick pony would be able to recognise if the document was an image or if it was an editable PDF file, but no!

Seems very expensive for what it does and there are many ways of accomplishing the same result using free programs.
To convert the PDF to an image use PDFill PDF Tools (Free) and then to minimise its size use FILEminimizer.
Uninstalled.

In order to register you have to compress any pdf, it will ask you for registration when compression is done.
I tried to compress one file, it took a while to do, 5 mins at least, and the resulted file is 5 times bigger?! I wasn't compressing pdf made of pictures only, it was a text + pictures pdf, that is normal pdf, and how come the output file is 5 times bigger. I'm not gonna use it.
