Its a Mac program. Good one! Its hard to change into Mac from Windows especially when your files are limited only for Windows environment.

Of course, you can accomplish the exact same thing with the free software NTFS-3G, which takes advantage of the free MacFuse program.

I'm confused. Seems to me Macs have had the built-in ability to read/write to and from Windows-formatted disks for decades. I've been formatting all of my external drives in NTFS for years so that I could swap them between my Macs at home and the Windows computers at work.

I've used NTFS for the Mac 6.x (and 7.x) for a couple years now and it has worked very well. No problems installing (though, I haven't tried the giveaway version). Note, version 7.x (which isn't provided here) also comes with software that lets your Windows system read Mac formatted drives.

I like this software since it allows me to move my hard drives between Mac or Windows. While OSX lets you read from NTFS drives, without this software you cannot format or read from NTFS drives.

Another reviewer pointed to FUSE as an open-source free solution. I can't speak to it; though, when I looked at it a couple years ago, it wasn't easy to install and I just didn't want to bother figuring it out, preferring to go commercial to get a simple - reliable - solution.

Highly recommended!

Switched from NTFS 3G and had no issues at all. Not sure why "Old User" did. Course, haven't rebooted yet.

Sorry, meant to post as a comment not a suggestion. Why not just use Fuse? http://code.google.com/p/macfuse/

I don't understand some of these giveaway products.

Great piece of software, I love it! I've been using it since it was given away last time. I don't know what I would do without it. I use it on my external hard drive that is shared between my two computers (windows and mac)

This program (or perhaps an older version) was available several months ago. I downloaded it then and installed it on my mac. I haven't used it much but the times that I did it performed well and I have not had any stability problems as old user indicates above.

I'll be downloading and installing this version to my other mac sometime today.

This program is ridiculous. It caused permanent kernel panics upon install and reboot. I had to disable it in single-user mode, and reboot half a dozen times in the process. NTFS 3G is a much better and more stable alternative.

I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU *DO NOT* INSTALL THIS PROGRAM.
