Just for clarification, burn do happens on lcds, I seem too many of it.
It doesnt need 6 years for it to happen, as long as an image stay static for 24x365 on the lcd screen, you would see what I means.
But it doenst happen to all lcd models/brands. It just happen on some lcd brands models only. Thats what I notice so far.
Maybe technology design in those specific models are quite different, I'm not that technical so Im not sure.

Well, I tried. Same error message, 'Switching to reference rasterizer' then 'failed creating the Direct 3D device'. The screensaver part will run, but I only get a white box. Thank you anyway GOTD and S&W Inc for this offer.

All the other wallpapper that has been offered here, my XP system has not been able to run. All the 3D screensavers I haven't had any trouble with. I am going to try this program and see how it does, hopefully it will be able to run since, I think, I meet the requirement.

Testing says after 6 years, burn in will happen if you leave it on the same image. Solution, change the screen image at least, once a year. Secondly, Screensavers are the cause of many problems, in fact, the old Macintosh would freeze up when using screensavers.
Do people still use screensavers, and if so, why?

I used to think the same as you, but I am discovering that burn-in on LCD's may well be an issue.
I have recently purchased two LCD televisions, one an LG and the other a Magnasonic (Phillips/Funai). Both of them have warnings in the user manual to not let a photo image stay on the screen for too long or burn-in may occur. In fact, both (very highly recommended) TVs have a built in screen saver when in system standby mode.
If you doubt my statement, please refer to the user manual for the LG 47CS570 at the following link where
Page 65 (and elsewhere) speak about this issue.
For the impatient, the text says:
"If a fixed image displays on the TV screen for
a long period of time, it will be imprinted and
become a permanent disfigurement on the
screen. This is "image burn" or "burn-in" and
not covered by the warranty."
"If the aspect ratio of the TV is set to 4:3 for a
long period of time, image burn may occur on
the letterboxed area of the screen.
Avoid displaying a fixed image on the TV screen
for a long period of time (2 or more hours for
LCD, 1 or more hours for the Plasma TV) to
prevent image burn."

Hey guys on GOTD.
Guess what I discovered???
I went to their main website at SmithWelcomeInc and I can tell you for those who hate screensavers you won't hate this. They got an awesome website linked on their Homepage called 3D Graphics Central. Their URL is http://www.3dgraphicscentral.com
They make some really cool 3D Animated 3D graphics over there and they're in Animated GIF and transparent flash format. You would not believe the quality! I still can't believe some of these things are Animated GIFs and .SWF files!!! They're more like 3D objects or something.
They got tons of graphics with YouTube videos, screenshots and free samples too. Here look at this links that goes directly their products page with all their graphics collections. I love the toon character packs, the objects, the sealife and the animal packs. You get a lot too in the purchase files. I bought 3 packs this morning and now I am loading up on my computer and using the Animated GIFs on my Tablets, and I'm gonna use some in my websites and games. I wanna go back for more!
Go here and see http://www.3dgraphicscentral.com/products/our-products
Great products smithwelcomeInc and a big thanks to 3D Graphics Central!
Come on guys you gotta visit!
See ya all for the next giveaway!
Thanks
Tina

How incorrect you are my friends...

To Bill Kuff, currently @ 24, what version of the Windows are you running?
I am on Windows 7, and I found out that you can stop this app by going to the hidden icons on your taskbar and clicking on an icon you do not recognize. LOL
It sounds funny, but this is how I was able to exit this application.
Now you can do whatever you wish with it. ;-)
Hope it helps.

Please help!! Installed this screensaver and now I can't get it to stop! It's like I'm on a boat that's rocking back and forth and I'm getting seasick. I can't even find it to un-install it. It's just here and I'm going crazy. HELP!!!

Dear me, so many thumbs down! This is actually quite a good screensaver. The graphics are better than the Astro Gemini giveaways that have been here previously. It could perhaps be improved by having more options for customization, like as previous comments have said, number of butterflies.
#9 mario has recommended 'nice free aquarium program'. Unfortunately, when you click on the link, the page seems to indicate that there's a search toolbar as part of the download. Unless you want another search toolbar, and possibly have your homepage changed, proceed with caution.
And finally, has it occurred to the people who automatically give a thumbs down to any program that doesn't personally interest them, that not everybody likes the same sort of programs that they do; and that there could be people out there doing the same to programs that THEY like? It makes the whole, thumbs up / thumbs down thing seem pretty pointless, doesn't it?

If you decide to follow mario's suggestion, currently @ # 9, please be very careful and uncheck the adware/bloatware that comes with that freeware.
Cheers,
Bob

it's a beautiful screensaver. The scene is beautiful with all those colorful flowers, butterflies and birds. The music is pleasant, but a bit sad. The wallpaper function is very nice, though it's heavy, since it eats a lot of memory.
Seriously, I don't understand those people who complaining about this. It's an amazing and high-quality one, besides you don't pay a cent this time, so what's the problem?
I really enjoy this screensaver and a big thank you for this!
I checked the homepage and there are a lot of nice ones out there, I'm sure I will buy some.

I have installed the 3d programme on Windows 7 64bit. The wall paper works fine but the screen saver crashes whenever I try to start it. I have rebooted; no change.
The graphics are extremely vivid, but move a little too quickly for my personal taste.
Thank you for offering this 3D programme.

Agree with Mario #8 - more photo programs would be so nice! Especially "Inpaint". Had it but lost it due to complete reinstall of Windows. Otherwise GAOTD you're doing a fine job for us. Thank you!

@#9 Mario, Yeah, it's free, and it also installs a toolbar and who knows what else?
There are people who like screensavers and those who don't. If you're one of the former, like me, this is very nice. If you're one of the latter, fine, but please stop voting it down because you don't like screensavers! Cast your vote for the quality of the product after using it or just don't vote.

It's lovely, vibrant colors of flowers and butterflies in motion. Flawless and easy install. Try it for a nice change.

I use to use screen savers but monitors don't suffer from burn marks like they use to and the novelty soon wears off. The only advantge is to keep private records etc hidden from the public in a work enviroment when your away from the computer should someone want to take a close look at the screen.
Some screen savers use to lock up the computer when you try to use the computer again.
I perfer to turn off the monitor if I'm going to be away from the computer for a while. But other times I leave the screen on so I can find out how long the current task will take when checking the screen at intervals.

Everyone seems to be overlooking that there's both a screensaver and a desktop wallpaper.
I find the camera panning to be distracting and annoying, especially on the wallpaper. It needs some way of turning it off.

why get this screen saver when you can get this nice free aquarium program and it's much active and better looking.

This is actually from DesktopPaints (or built with their tools), still annoyingly minimizes all windows when used as wallpaper, probably has the same problems with icons and multiple monitors. On the plus side, uses near zero CPU when used as wallpaper on my system, same as other DesktopPaints products. Not real fond of the image, like many other screensavers which also function as animated wallpapers, minimal camera movement. Generally sharp images, though in some the background is lower resolution. Major image issue--flowered backgrounds are way zoomed in, should be zoomed out compared to foreground (and butterflies that are combined with the background are poor). Way too many butterflies, poor movement. Images appear separate, rather than part of the whole. Installer is poor, not that it does anything bad. Vista and at least Windows 7 have buggy Z-order support, and the installer wants to run a fullscreen background, which I hate. In Windows 7, if the actual installer window falls behind the background, there's no way to bring it to the front, you have to close it and try again. Be sure to thank Bill Gates.
The GOTD moderators can't handle the truth. I'm sick of all of you who are so proud of your own stupidity. Screensavers can be run on demand as fullscreen animations rather than screensavers. This can be run as an animated wallpaper. LCDs can be susceptible to temporary image retention (not burn-in). How is it possible that you're completely unaware of the votes being wildly manipulated by an insane person every day? Do you really think that Ashraf regularly gets precisely 100 votes or that Giovanni gets near 200? Before the manipulation began, single or low double-digits was the norm. Not only does this insane loser wildly manipulate votes up, but also down (especially mine). How can you not notice? Why does GOTD want to commit site suicide by allowing, even encouraging, vote manipulation?

I agree totally with #3 Packetron. Way too many butterflies. It is alot better than desktop paints software and would be nice if it could be edited like the desktop paints wallpaper editor, which has been given away here.

Requirements: "3D Graphics Card with Pixel shader model 2.0 or above; DirectX 9.0c or higher; DirectX-compatible sound card...". All that to run a screensaver? No thanks. And who would pay for a screensaver anyway?
Save | Cancel
Installed easily on Windows 8, runs perfectly. Very nice graphics. Almost nobody *needs* screensavers anymore, but it's the word, not the genre, which has gone out of date. Screensavers today exist mainly as art, a visual enhancement to the workspace with the added benefit of hiding unfinished work from prying eyes. "Meadows 3D" does both of these things very well.

Nice screensaver with brilliant colors and lots of activity. The motion and the number of butterflies should be customizable. There are no shadow for birds, butterflies or flowers. It would be pretty to have the option to turn off the background, just let the background be the current screen color. I need to run it much slower on my machine.

It may be a good product, but since I am not interested in screensavers, I will not download it. However, I will not vote either.
