Looks great, but every time I go into the HELP section to make sure it's now registered to me, it keeps asking me to register it. (The registration number I had put in before does show up, and I get a "Thank you for registering" message, but that "Register" option keeps showing up - arghh!

Re new face of this website: on my W10 64 Home using Firefox I miss the numbers before the postings. If I wanted to react to to postings at the same time, I used to write "Re #x and #y." That possibility has gone. I will have to copy the links, liks "Re http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/liquid-story-binder-4-93/#comment-473805 by Rick Martin and http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/liquid-story-binder-4-93/#comment-473669 by leslek. Together with the go-between page when clicking on a link this is awkard, to say the least.

Of course everything new meets certain reluctance to be accepted.
Still, Kryp, what you are saying is mistaken: before, you couldn't REPLY to a posting and had to invoke the NUMBER many rows down. Now you can REPLY to the post on the spot. That is an improvement.
Now, how do we get back Karl, Giovanni, Funker, mike, XP and the many more "wise men" that used to bring light in the tunnel?

I am a published academic historian. The software seems on first glance to be very amenable for historians and biographers who have vast repositories of facts, numbers, dates, and images. Even genaeologies. Also for note-taking in archives and non-circulating libraries. I thoroughly plan to give a good tryout.

When I tried to install it again later this afternoon, it installed without a problem and without me using the key...(on a windows 8.1/64 bit)

Tried again - on two different computers:
WinXP Pro - installed OK (32-bit)
Win_7 Pro (32-bit) same problem just as with Win 8.1 Pro (64-bit)

Believe me:
Linux is the only way back to the future!

I installed and registered the program on Win 10 Pro and registered it. After it was installed I went through examples and how too's for dummies for an hour. I have been writing a docudrama for a year now and began putting my work into the structure provided. The story I am working on took place 30 years ago and the ideas, resources and tips will make my job easier and more complete. The program will make my job easier to keep organized compared to my old method.

My profession in the realms of HVAC and Network Remote Control really didn't prepare me to write a book.

Thank You Liquid Story Binder XE and GOTD

No special price for those who consider to purchase a license after having tested this?
What about future update?
What about the license terms for the paid version:
On how many (my own) computers can be installed?
(e.g. like desktop + notebook)

as many of them are able to DL gaotd_software.zip and has internet access to install and activate it :-)

I saw no commercial use in readme (short licence), numbers aren't specified.

Is there a way to format text? I only found direct options like "bold", and no structure like "chapter", "section"...

This way it is hard to export the text for making an E-Book, website or PDF (through LaTeX oder InDesign) from the files that I write in this tool.

This software has not been updated since 2011? Is it still supported and developed? I would hate to start with the program that is abandonware.

Reply   |   Comment by Egs  –  9 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+10)

Having gone to their website I found the same, an entry dated February 2011 and no updates since.
At that time the name was Liquid Story Binder XE without the 4.93 and it was a give away for 30 days after which it would self-destruct (Charlie's Angels anyone?).
Further, it says: "Liquid Story Binder is a shareware product. You can download it absolutely free, with no restrictions or limitations. It is completely functional with all available features included within the download. Yet, after a period of 30 non-consecutive days of use, Liquid Story Binder will cease to work." At that time the app was 7MB in size, today is 10.7 MB and it has the version number attached (but no XE).
Of course I have the questions that everyone has, how long is the app functional, 30 days, 6 month or 12 month? Obviously after its expiration you will have to pay the $45.95 to re-activate, if interested to keep it.
I couldn't find where is this company located and I'm disappointed that they don't have a representative to answer questions. Could it be that they ceased existing somewhere soon after 2011?

Tried again several times - up to the moment the offer was over...
On my computer with Win 7 Pro 32-bit at last the install succeeded to go through the activation
Instead on another computer with Win 8.1 Pro 64-bit I faced the same problem:
Just launching the setup a message box says that it was impossible to connect to server.
FYI the requester popped-up immediately - so, possibly, it is something related to an interaction with Windows and the new GOTD interface

Program installed and registered easily. Upon opening, one is faced with an imposing blizzard of windows filled with text. These are help and example files which, if you'll give it a half hour, will explain the function of this program.

In essence, this is a program for planners. If your idea of making a novel includes making an outline first, then this will work well for you. If your idea of writing is to sit down and start writing to see where it goes, this not only won't help you, but you'll be annoyed at it.

Looks like amazing soft for writers even writers are not familiar with PC applications :D /it is spossible those days still use typewriter? :D/

Smooth registration, very clear interface.

Good idea with Example and Help windows popped after installation.

Sure I will spend 30 minut to figure out how to use that program effectively.

At beginning I have good feeling of menu, and I feel familiar even
I used simple visual text Editor like SoftOffice Writer.

I hope I create with it something usefull. For an inspiration
I will spend some time with mine muse ;-)

If you have empty head don't blame software for it :D

Gracias Black Obelisk

PS. screenshot examples should have bright theme - not dark.

Looks like a very interesting program.
One question:
Downloaded & registered - but can find no CONFIRMATION that the software has indeed been registered.
Every time I re-load and go back to "about" it APPEARS to be wanting registration again (though the registration code is now in the required box).
Can someone tell me if the software HAS been registered or am I missing a step???
Want to make SURE I can try this.
Thanks to LSB & GOTD for this intriguing program.
(And YES, I am a Writer - YES, I am writing a book - and YES I have been published {many times}.)

The help section is very well put together! There's a quick start guide that allows you to get started right away. I'm very excited about using this software, and the fact that the files are .rtf so reading backups should not be an issue.

1. Previously used the trial version
2. File "Menu Captions.ini" localization file put in a folder "Captions"
3. Files spellchecker and thesaurus - downloaded from the official site.
4. The program is powerful, but it is necessary to thoroughly understand.

It is a nice software and is small to download. Registration went smooth. Just click on the menu bar for About and then select Register Software. Then enter the key provided in your download.
A bit complex to use at first. But there is a help guide. Just click on About and then on Help to access it. Then click on the Quick Start Guide hyperlink.
I think I will learn how to use it properly and then teach my teenage kid to use it for typing in her essays for school. I will use it to type some free ebooks for fun.

This is a well structured software without typical clutter. I highly recommend that you go all through the "File Listing" panel first. To do so close all other windows first with only the File Listing panel opened then click through the items of interest. That way you minimize your learning curve as the default layout that opens is a bit intimidating at first but once you read through the listings you are pretty much set to go and write your blockbuster novel.

They also offer their free product MomentumWriter, however I am in strong opposition on that because FocusWriter excels in terms of functionality and features.

With under 50 Dollars it is a well priced affordable product for novelists in contrast to FinalDraft.

Alternatives are yWriter, the old Celtx via software pages like Softpedia etc. as they have concluded it's time to snoop out what you're writing by offering only cloud-based solutions, Trelby another one, or PlumeCreator which are all free.

Installed and runs fine on Windows 8.1. Looks like a very nice program if you are thinking of writing that novel which they say is in all of us. Very extensive interface which seems to cover every aspect of writing. A winner today I think!

I've tried to use this software several times, and every time given up with it. It tries to do too much and ends up being too complicated and unintuitive to use. If you are the sort of person who likes doing masses of research and planning, then more research and planning, before writing anything - this could be for you. 'Scrivener' is so much easier to use, and one day (they have been promising for years)they may even bring out an ipad version and add syncing to the PC one.

Reply   |   Comment by lofty  –  9 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+34)

Comment to Thomas - In answer to your question to ‘lofty’ I will answer that I have been published ~ have YOU been published? You didn’t actually mention if you yourself have. Your comment/reply to lofty’s comment suggests that you feel this software is good to use, although you didn’t actually comment on the software. My impression of the software is that I agree with lofty that this software is too complicated and unintuitive to use. When I do research I create a simple directory into which I add folders, and as I proceed I place my researched items in the proper folder (or create a new folder ad hoc). You would spend all your time trying to figure out how to manage everything within this software. So if you feel this software is good to use, you should explain why you feel that way .

The most successful writers do exactly that. Massive research. And having a good system to organize/use it is important. Have YOU been published?

Been looking for something to organize my writing. The link for download came quick and it installed and ran with minimum hassle. Seems every giveaway wants my email but I guess that's the real price of free. I appreciate having the key in the readme makes things simple. The program ran fine on Win7 64bit so a good giveaway this time.
