I tried a different player (DAPlayer - this player do not play my blu-ray media even when it should according to description).
- Track 01 and 02 plays with audio, but video and audio are not in sync. Video resize not in real time.
- track 03 - ok, resize in real time
- track 04 - first few frames, then playback stops and player report crash...

It seems, my blu-ray is a strange one...

If you delete unused languages from
C:\Program Files\Aiseesoft Studio\Aiseesoft PDF to Word Converter\FREngine

you can easily recover more than 100 MB.
I am now down to 719 MB (754,613,280 bytes) from 873 MB (915,763,393 bytes)
after the install.

I'm surprised that no one thus far has mentioned MakeMKV as a free (sort of) alternative to this giveaway.

I've used it on many DVDs (I don't own any Blu-ray discs, or even a player) and it almost always does a good job.

You can use MKV2VOB to convert to a playable MPEG file. Files this program creates are playable on PS3 consoles. You have to use the DTS sound track for no Cinavia, and your receiver must be able to play DTS audio over HDMI.

I am going to test this with MKV2VOB and see how it plays on a PS3.

The files are so big, there's no real point in backing up a BR-D, the file will need a BR-D to play from anyway... You'll fill a TB hard disk in no time with this software, we need COMPRESSION...

#9 justchuck69 I didn't see anything about the support of graphics card accelerating of this item on its home website. I guess the long converting time might result from the large capacity of my source Bluray.

You missed a little detail about HandBrake:

Any DVD or Bluray-like source which is NOT copy-protected. (removal of copy protection is not supported)

For anyone who doesn't want to use this for any reason or who misses out on this offer, there is always Handbrake which is free/open source. It converts to MKV and MP4 and has several profiles available to make things easier.

Tried with Twilight Saga 3, it's really what I want to backup the french subtitle. thanks GOTD, thanks Leawo!!!!

I do'not think Windows Media Player suppots MKV, you have to pay extra for that and you still need Blue Ray player and that mean it cots money. But no thank anyway.

Downloaded without problems. On installation a strange page (not working) was opened. Registration without problems.

First conversion (Ghibli no Hondana)
track 01: no audio, slow play (from 5 to 11 fps; video playback chops)
track 02: no audio, slow play (from 5 to 11 fps; video playback chops)
track 03: promotion video 1+2 - work without problems
track 04: the video track stops and skips from time to time, audio and video are not in sync,

Tested on Windows 7 x64, Windows XP x86, newest codecs and splitters.

According to the ripped file size, the program only makes a stream copy of the blue ray disc (source disc total size = 38.6 GiB; ripped video size = 36.5 GiB) This would explain also no conversion options, only one output format.

Cons
Almost no configuration is possible. Only selection of audio/subtitle track.
Only one CPU core is used.

(This would be normal if this is only a stream copy and CPU was used only to decode the content of protected disc.)

Installed; converted a DVD to MKV.

Despaired at the lack of control over settings.

Final result appeared to contain missing or incorrect ratio information, consequently videos played in most players at the wrong aspect ratio.

Uninstalled.

#3 jimmy do you have a dedicated nvidia graphics card ( NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 and above ) as it would speed up this software the most.

they don't say if it supports ATI cards though so most likely don't !

Well, if you are a bluray movie nut this GAOTD could be the right tool for you, since it looks like able to decrypt most DRM protections out there without any hassle.

Of course this GAOTD is not able to convert video formats other than MKV, but I don't see this as a con because MKV format has many advantages compared to other formats (to AVI or MPEG for instance), such as the fact that it's OPEN SOURCE and supports menus and subtitles tracks, not to mention that it also supports virtually any video &audio format out there and can be played by almost any kind of video player nowadays (PotPlayer, VLC etc...).

Final Giovanni's verdict ==> Given the above FREEWARE this is a SUPER SATURATED FIELD and since we are not allowed to UPDATE any GAOTD for free at least for a few months, a tool like this can be used for FREE just for a few weeks, unless you are willing to pay an extra charge for the upgrade of course. But why do that if "DVDFab HD Decrypter" can do the same for FREE? It doesn't make sense, does it??

HINT: Why not give GAOTD users the ability to upgrade for FREE any GAOTD offered here at least for a few months?

My 2 cents for today's giveaway....

Leawo Blu-ray to MKV Converter is downloaded fast from gotd server, installed without errors.
upon launching the program for the first time, a registration is required to have full program functionality either from purchasing it or joining today's giveaway.

i immediately received the registration key from leawo together with a full program download link in case i decide to uninstall/reinstall the program.

the program has a simple, minimalist gui, and loads fast on my machine (intel pentium dual core e5400, 2x2gb ddr3-1333, nvidia g210 512mb ddr3, 500gb sata hitachi hdd) with the immediate drawback seen as converting only to the mkv format.

thanks leawo and gotd.
i hope future versions of this program will also include converting to and from avi and mp4 and or full iso-ripping of blu-ray/dvd.

Registered, downloaded and activated this program on my Windows 8 Pro. Converted my Twilight Saga 3 DVD disc. The program is quite clean and simple. The result is quite satisfactory, high quality and nice synchronization. The only defect is that it took too long to finish the conversion. Yet still a very useful app. Thank GOTD and Leawo.

"With prior disc decryption support, Leawo Blu-ray to MKV converter could easily decrypt and rip Blu-ray discs with AACS, BD+ and the latest MKB level protection, and CSS-DVD discs as well."

Can someone please clarify this for me? Does this giveaway decrypt on its own or not?

Thanks,

Bypasses DRM protection

Cons
Does not convert to video formats other than MKV
Cannot rip/copy DVDs/Blu-rays and store them in their original DVD/Blu-Ray format for loss-less reburning (if needed)
Cannot rip/copy to ISO
DRM bypassing capabilities is limited to "the latest MKB level and with AACS and BD+ protection" (Blu-ray) and "CSS protection" (DVD)
