Hi to everyone again,

I would really appreciate if you give the software a positive review here:

This helps us build trust within new users and some of them buy and help us to make the product even better :)

Confusion...
1. Message for for companies and developers, no matter how cool and good is your software make it accessible for EVERYONE. I'm not stupid but I could not find the place to register the key anywhere...then I read that older users get free update (such things can be written at the very beginning - I have uninstalled the other version earlier...)
2. Accessible means every Joe and every Kowalski can download it and register without a hasstle...otherwise we have here an endless conversation on how to register it...
3. I liked the program but I'm tired of trying to find the basic info on the Iris website or the strange little place to register the key...
I give up (or maybe it's the heat) whatever...

I'm thinking that this program must require a web cam if it measures the light source and knows the difference between day and night.
Is it possible to tun off this program temp if it causes problems with other programs on the computer?

I LOVE Iris! I've been using it since its first giveaway here sometime last year. My eyes are much less stressed by screen fatigue. Is this one an update? Does anyone know?

Reply   |   Comment by M. Aronson  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-3)

M. Aronson: My understanding is that at least the location feature has been updated (apparently, the earlier service used for the location feature is no longer around--a new location service has been added for this software version). However, note the comments below: the version here is a 1-year license--last year's version from here doesn't have a time limit. Also, because of the location service issue, the developer kindly is allowing earlier users to freely update to the current version through a separate download at the Iris website (do *not* use the version here). And so, likely best to grab the free updated version from the Iris website.

Hi and thank you for the nice words

You can see activation and installation instructions here
https://iristech.co/how-to-install-and-activate-iris/

Please note that you need to download the software from here because there is no giveaway on the version from the official website

Also, the code is for 1 year free, as pointed from other members if you downloaded the software at some earlier some earlier giveaway you have a free update to version 1.0.0 so don't download this instead update from the official website or don't do anything to not lose your lifelong activation :)

Daniel Georgiev: Thank you for your considerate post. And thank you for clarifying that those of us who obtained the Iris Pro 0.9.3 version here last December can freely upgrade to version 1.0.0 via your website--that is very nice of you to have allowed.

A wonderful and eyes-friendly program--thank you for it!

Had this one from the last time it was given away...was OK...but still found it more complicated than it needed to be.
Don't need my camera watching me blink...Don't need the software and it's services calling home all the time...
Prefer the much simpler and always free SunsetScreen

Note that this offering of the latest version of Iris Pro *has a 1-year license*. If you grabbed the last offering of Iris Pro here at Giveaway of the Day last December, Iris Pro 0.9.3, you might want to skip today's offering, as the earlier offering and version did not have a license period limit.

I have lots of doubt about this software, isn't it blue light in the visible spectrum and since when the visible spectrum is dangerous for our eyes?
Furthermore, why not violet light, it is above the blue light in the visible spectrum?
Lots of things do not fit the narrative about this software, like, "This will help your body to produce more melatonin at night", where were the studies done (show the results)?
If you reduce the blue light, everything changes in the spectrum of the display, the greens become brown, yellow or okra, the purple becomes a brown smudge and so on. You can do more damage to the eyes by looking at a darken screen than looking at a bright screen (and this has been proven in a study).

Martin, A concentrated focus of of blue light is bad for eyes, which comes from all screen displays such as mobile phone, monitor, TV etc.
Here is the complete article
http://www.bluelightexposed.com/#where-is-blue-light-found

Martin, https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/blue-light-has-a-dark-side

Basically, any light will reduce melatonin, but blue does it a lot more than others.

It's blue specifically, and not say, violet, because our eyes' detector cells for blues will still be stimulated by colours close to blue, meaning purples and violets, and even greens can stimulate the them, causing melatonin suppression.

So reducing the temperature of all colours means less stimulation of those blue detecting cells, meaning less melatonin suppression overall.

Hope this helps.

I've used this for years and like it. However I already have version 1.0 so no need to download it. Thanks for a great product.

Mark, Why is it great?

Reply   |   Comment by Ootje  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+6)

Ootje, Because I never have to think about it, it works in the background and gradually changes the screen throughout the day based on my time zone, to be more dim and yellowish as the day heads into night.

I also could not figure out how to install the code for activation. Then I read the comment about inserting it into the area upon installation. So I uninstalled and reinstalled and sure enough, it is very easy to overlook the actual website upon installation. I then inserted the code and I have it activated. I have used this software for several years and think it is really great!.

Endomondo, yes as I got it from another site which was a year ago and I guess you think things don’t change in downloading from different sites! Don’t be so quick to judge comments and simply put don’t judge others who simply want to help

Downloaded, installed and registered without any problem. Sadly, it uses 5% of CPU power and 62MB of RAM.

The license code is in the readme file. It is the phrase "iris-giveaway." You insert it at the end of the installation in the registration box.

Since I registered when requested I don't know what you do if you got click happy during the installation.

This is a great software to prevent eyesight issues, been using it since it was first shared here and I am satisfied with it, this new version looks great. I also gave a free version of this app to some people and they are also happy with it. But there is one problem.
When I installed BitDefender security suit, I noticed through the suit that Iris sends data to the Net. Normally, this should not be happening as Iris gets hour and minutes from my own computer locally and it doesn't need any further info, so why does it need Internet?! I tried to block it with the suit but after that Iris kept crashing. I would like the author of the app to explain why does it need Internet and why it keeps crashing if the connection between Iris and the Net gets blocked.
