This promotion is a total failure! I'm still waiting for the license code from iPixSoft but now the time is out. So, I have to delete the soft from my computer...
This attitude toward the users may be harmful a lot for iPixSoft company...

Totally agree with the findings on this China Mentality.
DO NOT TRUST an Entity that does not like you at all. The U.S way of Conducting Business with the chinese, is utterly and totally WRONG and BROKEN!!!! Since this is a (so called cold) War in their eyes,WHY THE HELL ARE We selling out to them ???? Major Corporations and some Government entities are mostly the ones to blame. Check your Router Logs Often People, and look for chinese addresses. If there are, then it is probably an attack of some kind. So go ahead and hide your true identity and use anonymous e-mails, this is a useful security Measure to keep BAD/HATEFUL Government at bay,and away from your Privacy.

How can i register this software?

@iPixSoft
I really hope, the quality of your coding is better than your registration. This wrong registration process isn't good for your reputation. I hope you change it quickly. Round 355 - 360 developers in one year heve done it better.

Could you imagine, how big the servers must be, how large the databases of collected data (and actual data sets) and how expensive every single month would be to keep those servers running and data up-to-date? So it doesn't makes any sense what you said. And for the backdoor, Adobe has it too. And it is really not an chinese vendor. They have expensive software and i don't think that they would create a software company only for collecting user data, it would be easier to use p2p/filesharing sites for that instead of developing software that costs money and money and more money after money until one day, they sell something and get refund for the developing process (maybe they are lucky and they do it before going fully insolvent, because you don't even know if a single person would pay for it). And why should they develop a product from a saturated market like the converter one, a SWF converter, who uses that on a daily basis or has it installed for years on his computer? It doesn't makes sense.

#26 Mary

The only thing they can "find out" is, that the used email address is a trash one, from a trash email server with it's trash IP and registration might fail or will be blocked, invalid because the blacklist filtered you out of the mail server (and i don't think that all trash mail providers in the world are in the hand of chinese gov and why should they block their own server ips during registration, lol) and what can they do with the "where you come from" if that even would be possible? Google knows where i come from, Youtube does, Twitter too, even Facebook and for sure, GOTD knows, forums, shops. Everyone knows and what should i do now, blew up my router and never use the internet anymore?

It would be nice, when you focus on the main part: say something about the software, this is not a politics forum or the game "Nations of War". It's a site about free softwares. Not a single fact given, only speculative, like in most scenarios. Facts or it isn't true.

Re 21 and 26.

You could quite easily replace China with the US and Microsoft within those posts.

Why do you think Hotmail wants to know all this other info now ?

And Facebook is the biggest CIA data base in the World , including storing who people associate with.

If a developer gives you their software for free, then it is natural business plan to collect email address's in the hope they can sell you an upgrade or another product in the future . A small price to pay to get free software , considering you can unsubscribe or block the emails if you wanted.

As to the paranoid , it is the US you want to worry about, not China.

One more thing about China. I recently ended up on a Chinese forum and discovered from the dialogs that China not only allows software pirating but encourages it under the guise of 'Product Development'. From other sources this policy appears to be applied to manufacturing including technologies.
Just try to find things in your home that don't have "Made in China" on or in it.
IMHO China is doing what it has always done with it's opponents, overwhelm them in mass.

I'm afraid the developers just killed today's promotion with their registering method.
All emails from GOTD users look like spam sent by a spambot from computers infected with some kind of malware. The developers' email provider has probably banned all GOTD users IPs for at least a day and every new email may be a reason to ban those IPs for a month or even permanently as DDoS participants.

Before rerunning this giveaway the developers must take some actions to prevent another failure.

Possible actions:
- Change registering method.
- Turn off antispam filter or change e-mail provider.

Some of you think that by giving a temporary e-mails just for fun of it or not affiliate with your name is a safe bid and is protecting you from the developer and prying eyes.
You are all wrong, all e-mails are tided to your IP address, location, time and date of access and can easily be traced back to your real name and real address if need be.
So, before you do such assumptions, be very careful, nobody can hide anymore with such e-mails. If you are using wireless routers makes no difference and could be even worse, wince your coordinates can be logged and find too.

Nice reporting #21, I agree and I knew something like this is going on from different sources.

I'm not sure what use this software does... I already have Format Factory that converts anything to anything- if this can't rip youtube videos then for me it has little interest.

A few days ago Giovanni took some serious flack for recommending free alternatives to GAOTD software, and I would like to add my 2 cents:

Giovanni always provides a complete and fair appraisal of the software on offer (for example, he praises today's give-away in no no uncertain terms; "flawlessly" hardly seems like criticism) and in the spirit of this site provides alternatives SO THAT DEVELOPERS AND USERS ALIKE can receive and provide feedback. I assume that pointing out short-comings, or making functional comparisons can only serve to improve the software on offer.

I am personally grateful both to GAOTD and the developers they showcase (I have discovered some wonderfull, nay .....ESSENTIAL software thanks to this site) and Giovanni (who has also provided some great information regarding the software on offer).

What can I say? The developers' English may be crap ... but Giovanni's is usually even worse.

Same experience as mikko.

Sent emails by Gmail. No answer even after a long time waiting.

Sent email using Yahoo Mail with Yahoo email address.

Received username and serial key very fast - exactly 2 minutes later.

Registered the software.

It was able to convert the sample swf video file quickly and with very good result. Tested the converted video file and it played back with clear video and sound.

---------------------------------------------------------

Please note that I have tried 2 of the freeware alternatives mentioned.
They FAILED to convert the SWF video file properly.
One of them recognised the SWF video file as "Audio only" and the resulting converted file was only an audio file. No video at all.

Hi everyone

Before the battlefield gets a second Armageddon, I checked to see if this Panda cloud anti virus is something to be genuinely concerned of and I get a confirmed.

I look at things very objectively and try my best to sincerely understand the whole picture of a subject. Security matters to me most. I just write a few things here that you may do also and if you are not comfortable with my suggestions, please, by all means, if you don’t like it don’t do it, because what’s the point to do something that isn’t to your liking.

Primarily at this point in depth technical details about what Panda cloud flagged as inappropriate for the end-user is irrelevant. What does matter however is the fact that there is some issue with the software. And at that stage to use common sense, personally (not necessarily you) I refuse to execute the program in order to prevent damage to my system. Panda uses methods to scan for unknown malware and viruses.
On the second, there are too many 0-day exploits out there, both under investigation and undiscovered malware bits and bytes.

Just a few things that I personally always consider with literally any software vendor website is this:

- if the website has millions of worldwide customers but hasn’t a postal address
- if the website uses a virtual office (you pay a monthly fee for a company that you appear to be a genuine physical business somewhere with Tel, postal address etc)
- country of origin (I’m not a racist by the way) Chinese, Russians, new member states of the EU are on the hot-list
- checking for inconsistencies with the website’s content (not checking for bad English but sometimes it gets me off the rails)
- how desperately do I need a particular software (are there alternatives elsewhere)
- what are the online reviews of a particular software / website

I also run this trust assessment test, where I compare to the Nigerian scam emails, it is safe to say that just because a software vendor has an official website with store doesn’t automatically mean he/she isn’t trying to get their malicious software on your desktop. Or, just because you are offered a Million Dollars but only if you open that email attachment. Or, take Google-Store for instance to prove my point in case with Google as they sit back and yet, still do nothing as promised to “fix” the persistent anti-trust that coexists with Android users.
With any of this, I remain cautious. What you do, is none of my business.

good day to everyone
stay safe

cheers

This GAOTD does what it claims pretty flawlessly....so if you need, for some odd reasons, a video with external video links embedded in the SWF file you want to be converted, well this is the right tool for you!

But as I already said tons of times in the past, I firmly believe that the VIDEO CONVERSION arena is a pretty much SATURATED field nowadays, so there is no point of paying 80 BUCKS for an app like this one....ok this GAOTD is FREE today, thanks to GAOTD team, but if you need to update it in the future to make it compatible with new video codecs, you have to PAY for it...get the drift, dudes?

So why not use this excellent FREE Flash converter, equipped with advanced editing feature, ki$$ing your wallet goodbye forever?

http://www.swf-video.com/free-swf-avi-converter

Another good one is this:

http://www.freeswfconverter.com/

And to perform the opposite conversion (==> all video formats to FLASH on any webpage):

http://www.videoconverterfactory.com/free-flash-video-converter

Obviously, for such a kind of conversion, you can also use more comprehensive FREE Video & Audio Converters out there, such as FORMAT FACTORY,FREEMAKE VIDEO CONVERTER,iWisoft Free Video Converter, FREE STUDIO 5 or better yet the Portable version of Xmedia Code, ki$$ing your wallet and registry changes goodbye:

http://www.softpedia.com/get/PORTABLE-SOFTWARE/Multimedia/Video/Portable-XMedia-Recode.shtml

Enjoy!

Just activated (but not used) it, so before I forget:

Activation (actually, just installation) brings up a GOTD-unique offer of a lifetime usage license with 1-year of free upgrades for this (still shown at a 'usual' $79.95) PLUS their GIF to SWF converter (usually $19.95) for $9.95 - seems like a reasonable deal.

I have the latest flash player installed and when I run this setup file it says"cant find adobe flash, download"
When I go there and DL and run the installer from adobe, it wants to install chrome and the google toolbar. (i use FF) but all dl time out?
So I go directly to adobe and DL the basic installer by UNCHECKING the checkbox for chrome) Run the installer and the flash DL times out.

ipixsoft should be aware, some email clients deny allow "empty email"
such clients can NOT skip the "Subject field", nor allow an "empty message body."

Testing this offer FAILES at the install. with a register screen waiting for an email which will never arrive.

Upon closing that dialog box, I find it's another application which loves to open in between both screens on a dual monitor.

Loading their page after uninstall for feedback. Classy final touch to "get the hell of my operating system."

The email for the key thing is a BAD way to do things, When I come to gotd, I just want to test, I don't want to mess with license nonsense.

Make the DAMN software HAVE the LICENSE IN IT.
This offer is a FAIL because of the license hoopage and I don't even care what it does at this point, sony vegas can do the same damn thing.

Thumbs down for harvesting email.

I wonder if anyone knows what "no end game flash file needs people’s joining to play" actually MEANS?

At this point, I must point out I haven't actually installed the software yet.

Although they say "with rich editing functions such as crop, add watermark", it looks like that is ALL it does (though their site does say you can vary the position and transparency of your watermark). They could do with adding some transitions, subtitles and the ability to work with audio.

As it stands, even the on-site reduction from $79.95 to $69.95 is too much for what is essentially a one-trick pony.

Downloaded easily and quickly, installed with no problem, and the registration email came inside of ten minutes. Program works easily, too; looks like a keeper. I wish it had a downloader, so one could just grab a .swf from the web and convert it, instead of having to use a separate program for that. But, hey, at $0, who's complaining?
