Firstly, thanks for giving away this antivirus package. However, It is pretty much intrusive, slows down my network and stops web pages from loading smoothly. It does have a pretty GUI which is spoiled by the UX. I generally have to close all it's shield but do you know it still interferes with what I am doing and announces that it has just scanned . . .you get the picture? That is a little too much. Thanks again.

Quick scan -3 minutes, Complete scan 45 minutes (115k files). Good so far. No freezes.

Thank you so much, but I don't depend on a man written program to protect me from cyber attacks. Allah will make sure, I'm safe and my PC is heathy too. I praise Mohammed (mpbuh) 5 times a day to let the infidels be stroked by virus.

Abdullah Abu Laban, I didn't know, Allah, allowed the followers of that sect to use computers at all. Btw, as an "infidel" I thank you so much for wishing me virus. You're too kind

For years i have been using only the free Microsoft Windows defender (with defender smartscreen activated on Edge), and free Malwarebytes. And of course a lot of cautiousness whith anything downloaded or received by mail. Never had any virus problem...And I never forget a lot of people on the internet are there to scam gullible people.
And several backups of my files in different places.

It's a big program and it took a while to install. It slowed the computer to a crawl and I'm not willing to turn off my other protection, so I uninstalled it.

This is just AVIRA's engine with Intego's User Interface. Avira Free will work just fine, no payment needed.

I went down the Intego rabbit hole since they do a great job with the MAC antivirus. So thought to give their new Windows version a look over. Bad thought!! Longg story short version. It picked up only about 68% of the nasty stuff, scanning took forever, let some "junk" slip through the cracks, and it didnt seem to have the "punch" to it that is has with MAC version.
Thks GOTD for the offer but 2 things detract from this offer. First it is only a 6 mth "trial" run and second..Intego...stick to doing MAC security because your Windows edition...does not cut the mustard even against many free Windows edition antivirus agents.

Joe, Who complains? The users speaks their mind, and there's just nothing, you can do to stop that. Actually most comments are more usefull than your rant . "because it's free". So is shit, but you don't think, I should complain, if someone offerede me a pile

I tried visiting their web page at 10:15AM EDT and the site would not load on two tries. On my third try I got "page not found". This really builds customer confidence! Pretty sure I won't be trying this "trial".

UPDATE: At 10:20 EDT the website finally loaded. It took 5 full minutes. I remain unconvinced.

dMf, I think Intego was responsible for the slow open. Try turning all it's shiels off and see if there is any change (my experience).

Stick with Microsoft security. I will say This Windows 7/8 Microsoft security sucked. with windows 10 it has gotten much better and just as good on Windows 11 if not better!.

Intego's website claims a "100% detection rate of Windows 10 malware". No anti-virus product can provide a 100% but only 99.x% figure. Why should I use a product of a small unknown vendor when there are free anti-virus products of well-known competitors? I wouldn't take any risk but rather go with the well-known ones.

"Intego antivirus software is safe for Macs. Because its Windows-only antivirus software is relatively new, it is relatively untested. It also includes fewer antivirus and other protections than competing Windows antivirus software. " A review by US News and World Report, March 22, 2021

Thanks, but 3 problems:
1 - 6 months is a 175-day extended trial, not a giveaway,
2 - their website's 7-day trial is free and "protects" forever anyway,
3 - 7-day and this 6-month version can do everything, then purchase is required to scan and update and automate, otherwise, they both claim to "protect" forever.

Review at [ https ://www. safetydetectives. com/blog/intego-windows-antivirus-review/ ] suggests it's light on PC resources, but slow, and "average" at finding known stuff, missing some known stuff.

Considering one reviewer claimed that it missed some known stuff, I suggest there is scant support that it can also protect against Zero Day unknown stuff ... unless it blocks all programs and updates from downloading, perhaps, because even Microsoft and other program vendors have no idea about Zero Day vulnerabilities.

What differentiates this from free alternatives in free SuperAntiSpyware, free Spybot Search & Destroy, free Malwarebytes ( ecch! ), free Avira, free Panda, and so on?

A web search for [ free windows antivirus comparison ] shows more - free Avast, free Kaspersky, free AVG, free Bitdefender, free Sophos Home, free Microsoft Defender, free Adware Antivirus, free Zone Alarm, and more.

- - - - - - - - - -

Personally, I never have an antimalware program pre-loaded and running in computer memory, I use a suite of ad-blocking extensions when I browse, and I submit any downloads to free VirusTotal, and I assess their report before running anything, and I occasionally scan with a free anti-malware product or two to confirm that I am clean, and I am.

What are other folks finding with this offering and with the state of anti malware software in general?

Thanks for letting us explore this and share.

Who the heck is Intego Antivirus Premium?

Must be a new player in the game, since I've never heard of them!

Now, considering that it's an AntiVirus and not a full Internet Suite, some important features are missing, to include Anti Phishing, Anti Spam. etc, etc.
They will have a hard time competing with the big boys, such as Kaspersky, Avast, Bitdefender and others who have been around for decades.

Dear Lady/Gentleman,

Kindly I ask your attention.

Thanks about the GOTD! :)

It would be great to have the use of Results.
Prevention reports two prevents, but the information of the path isn't full shown, nor that there is an option, to Save it all to a text document.

Could you be so kind and create that?
There is NO FULL SCREEN option, so the text line could be shown some more.

Prevention Report:
C:\Program Files\Intel\SUR\QUEENCREEK\ and than ???????????

So, what's prevented?

What will happen after those 6 month?
Will all quarantine be what?
What about a backup if wanted, before doing anything?

Atleast give us ONE update, so that we can see what and where is shown by full path.

Thanks! :)

PS: Have a happy work week, weekend and stay healthy! :)
