Some of this has been answered and updated, but received this directly by email as one of the people (#41) indicated that the registration name is given after install. It is/wasn't. According to Kristanix Software you use Giveawayoftheday and the Key # that DOES show in window.

1:

"Hi Ron,

Unfortunately, it was GiveAwayOfTheDay who made that readme.txt so I would too have wished for it to contain some more information. They also put some wrong information about the software, such that it was the Standard Edition and costs $19.95, while it is the Deluxe Edition and costs $49.95.

But I hope you will find the program useful!

Have a nice day!

Sincerely,
Tor Martin Kristiansen
Kristanix Software

2:

I am sorry for this inconvenience. The message about the e-mail is not meant for GiveAwayOfTheDay users but users from our own website.

To unlock ImageBadger Deluxe, please use the following registration name and key:

Name: Giveawayoftheday

Key: DELETED

Have a nice day!

Sincerely,

Now you have this info directly from Kristanix Software.

One major con in this program is that there is no preview when you are croping an image.Another con is that some filters do basically the same thing as another,it is just called something different.I dont and will never use half of the filters. This program also doesn't have "CURVE",my favorite feature I have came across. With curve you adjust the lightning, and specify which part to either show shadows or lighten up.I use curve for most of my pictures of myself.I have a freeware program that I enjoy using and I prefer it over this one. It's call paint.net,you should go try it!My rating for this program is a 6/10.Great program,I just have another one that I find more convienent. Thanks GAOTD!

#52, #86 and #96 I suffered the same fate. I have a feeling that once you install this app, even when not fully installed, and then remove it, it will come back with that message on subsequent installs. Don't know how to sove the problem!

Hello,
I started to pass this program by but my brother thought it was
really cool. So I came back and went to your website to really see
what all it did and did download it. Kudo's on your informative
website and this program too! Outstanding!
I suggest other's check out your website to read more about it.
http://www.kristanixsoftware.com/imagebadger/
A side note, when I download things from this giveaway site, I do not
select save, instead I choose OPEN and have no problems activating
things, if they have the activate icon, you double click on that first
and then when it says it is activated, then download the program.
This program however, does not have a separate activate button, so when you do open and download, keep your eye open for the popup Username and Registration number. On the help button of the program
is where you can click and register it.
Again, thanks for the very cool and well thoughtout program!

Half of these image formats don't even EXIST in the world today, they may exist in this program but no programs that have been made in the new millennium will support half (or more) of these image files! It's useless! Chances are, if you're going to convert an image file, you can save it as that image file in the program your using, hell, all you really need to do is put the file in paint and save it as the file you want to, most of the programs out there right now support all of Paint's image files. Don't download this file, it's a waste of time and hard drive, and trust me, I have a 200 GB hard drive and not even I want this on it.

err. Gotta say, I still prefer win98se with USP 2.01 or same with SE2ME for the systems I still run that the hardware just doesn't like win2k. Being disabled often means not upgrading for fair stretches!

sorry, soapbox time.

In fact, the #3 machine on my LAN is winME on a k6-2/450, the wife's Athlon XP 2200+ /#2/ is still running '98 gold (because she *likes* it- and it works well for Pogo) and I have a pair of PII-333's on 98, and if you think I'd be nuts enough to put anything past win98se on my 1997 Toshiba 440CDX laptop, you ought to be in a rubber room. 3 gig hdd, pentium (no 2, 3, or celeron) 133 and 64 megs of ram, plus a max 800x600 LCD. Riiight. How about the p-166 desktop with 32 megs? that a good XP candidate?

And Windows 2000 professional is what I'm typing on, in a dual boot configuration with windows 98se, as there are problems I haven't solved with 2k as the OS. And the only reason I have 2k installed is I needed to run Gizmo Project. And got interested in what I could do with it.

XP? sorry, my opinion of M$ and XP keeps me as far away as I can get. For one thing, I change hardware patching up stuff too often to be begging for reactivation all the time.

(lemme see.... change video cards to see if one's bad, then switch back when that's not the problem. that's 2 hardware changes for the price of none, isn't it?)

Anyway, anyone who yarps about people who don't want to fix what ain't broke and stick with the hardware and/or OS that runs best for them are pretty short of memory. And unrealistic. And probably assume everyone who comes here is spot up-to-date.

(which those using vista probably are- but there *was* a time before XP, before win2k, when *lots* of systems weren't *made* for XP/2k/NT.)

So, yeah, if the operations don't *need* to be written for XP, more power (and more sales) to those who do keep a version around (even if it's an older version, and explained that way) for those of us that don't toss out systems and get new ones with preinstalled XP every year. Because we can't or don't want to afford to.

soapbox: off

But that's just my opinion.

#88: As far as the avast thing with burningkit2, do a check with another antivirus before freaking. ClamWin and a couple others say it's a false alarm.

As for this day's software, it's probably going to take time and use to find out if it has a niche that the freeware competition missed. It happens. I have a couple of photo collections to put together and set up to send to a friend in canada, and this might just be a helpful tool. by about the middle of next week, at this rate.

(having 30,000+ photos taken with my pair of digital cameras, it takes that long to figure out where the ones I want *are*.)

*Shameless plug here for what >I

Kristanix Software, I don't think the shell extension is hooked correctly. I've seen shell extension hook problems with Folder Marker Home, Media Resizer Pro, and ImageBadger. Folder Marker Home and Media Resizer Pro (at least the versions from GotD) have serious problems with their shell extension handlers, at least yours works. The shell extension hook should be completely independent of any other shell extensions, and that's not what I see with your hook.

#52, #70, #86--the key is the same for everyone. The only thing that I can suggest is to copy-and-paste the registration values into a NotePad window, and then copy-and-paste them from the NotePad window into the program's registration dialog box (clipboard entries which look the same can have different data types). I would also recommend not launching the program from the installation, instead doing it manually after installation.

#21, #63--The folder icon in the app selects entire folders, the Global Options allows you to select whether to include subfolders.

WhiteRabbit and KAS: I have no idea if this will remedy your situation, but when I tried to copy and paste the reg.# from the pop-up box into the program (yeah, I'm lazy), nothing happened. No message, nada. Then, on a whim, and because I'm lazy, I copied and pasted the number from KAS' post (#73) and it worked like a charm. It may have been a fluke, but it can't hurt to try. Good Luck!

Hi,to kas and stephen you might have a problem if your antivirus software is running, if so try disabling the firewall. Just quit antivirus till you register, I could'nt download and install until I stopped the antivirus, I hope this will resolve your issue.

This is an excellent, easy-to-use program, if you're not too "professional" to get over using the warm, fuzzy badger interface. It's like riding in the back of a pick-up truck--there's no way you can do it and look cool. Fortunately, I could care less about what a bunch of self-styled tech wizards think of me. Thanks GOTD and Kristanix for an outstanding giveaway!
To Ruthie(#88): A lot of people had the same problem as you yesterday and they were all running Avast! anti-virus. The sad fact is, Avast! wouldn't recognize a virus if said virus painted itself purple and danced naked on top of a piano singing "Virus Days Are Here Again".
I've been around this site since its inception, and while I haven't jumped at everything offered (who has?), I can tell you they do a terrific job of protecting us visitors from any form of nastyware. Don't be afraid to download from here. Honest!!
And remember...A vote for 2-SHEDS is a vote for us all!! 2-SHEDS in '08!!!

I have the same problem as KAS comment #52 that is :

The key you entered is already expired. Please enter a new key.

I've checked my date, just in case one of the children have messed with it, but it's set for Tue 19th June 2007 22.21 GMT, which is withing the time frame for this giveaway. I've also done as #52 and deleted and reinstalled it, including deleting any entries in the registry, but I get the same message every time.

You can see from the following screenshot (just click on the link) that I'm doing the right thing. I've checked to see if there has been a space added onto the end of the registration code, but there isn't.

No worries if you can't sort it though even if it looks like a reasonable program, which i could use. I'll just use photoshops.

Goldangit--DOS 5 isn't supported!!!!

Works just fine in XP, tho. Downloaded fast, installed fast, and except for the gawdawful long activation key number (jeez it's longer than Myker-softs!) it was easy. Everything in the description that's supposed to be there is included. & seems to work. Don't know if I need another image program, but it was free (and I can always uninstall it.) Hope it doesn't expire on the 25th.

Thanks.

Irfanview can indeed , as #58 Jimbo mentioned, not save in every possible format but only those that are most commonly used such as BMP,jpg, png, gif, tif, icon, psd etc....

Jimbo's shows his ignorance however when he states that you need to install tens of plugins. Just go to the homepage and you can download all PlugIns as one large EXE file. How much easier can you get?

Irfanview doesn't have a difficult interface. Not if you can read.
It doesn't go for flashy buttons and instead everything is in pull-down menu's. I guess for some people that is to brainy / nerdy / difficult. There is however no steep learning curve involved.

To compare the features one can easily compare
http://www.kristanixsoftware.com/imagebadger/
with
http://www.irfanview.com/main_what_is_engl.htm
If you want childish looking interface go for imagebadger.
Do you want a sleek interface and only want to do a limited amount of functionality then Picassa isn't half bad.
If it's just functionality that explains itself that you're looking for then I would advise irfanview every time.

---

The winner of today silly post must be #5 Arjan :
1) "The program works fast and rather good."
2) but while trying it out with 3 pictures only 2 processed properly and the 3rd caused such havoc that it terminated the program.
3) never the less he deems it worthy of 8 points on a scale of 10

The mind boggles. I can't help but wonder how many points he would give it if it hadn't processed any of the 3 pictures?

I'm a freelance photo journalist for "The Daily Bugle" in my spare time. This is the perfect thing for cropping photos, resizing images, or even converting them over to another format. It does the work of more expensive programs, but in a "lite" format. I just used the program a short time ago for photos of a certain "web slinger" we all know ;) I've been working on an "autobiography"... lol SHHH!

Well back to the campaign trail for me.. "2-SHEDS '08 !!!"

After installing the application onto my virtual machine (don't dare install it on my actual PC until I've tested it out).

The install was a piece of cake...

however, after running the application I have to say there are better free ware applications out there. Some of them are Irfanview and XNView. Or heck Picasa (it may have fewer features, but the organization feature is excellent).

My biggest complaint with this application is the lack of image support. I tried over 11 image formats (jpeg, jp2, tif, png, bmp, pict, etc) and it couldn't read 3 of my Tif files.

I like the many different filter options, but I think there are better applications out there which I mentioned above.

When applying filters it takes a long time to process them. I know some of you may gripe saying I'm runing a virtual machine, but I have the virtual machines running on 1 GB of free ram, a seperate HD, and a 2 GHz XEON Dual core processor. Nothing else is running in the background. It had taken me about a minute to process the images (15 MB total for all 25 images and doing 2 filters). Other software can and DOES do filtering faster. However, it is nice to do it all at once.

After evaluating the software I give it a 7 of 10.

Also, if you want a powerhouse photo application try Adobe Lighthouse. I tested the BETA for quite some time and I was AMAZED by it. It allows you to add and take away filters VIA a stack and much more... Top notch and not too pricey for what it does.

Tnx #65 for your concern, but I have entered the registration data correctly. I cut and past from the pop-up window, so I used
"Giveawayoftheday" for "Name" and "000017-DKJNDX-786EJV-UQPVH4-ANX96Z-NZPR75-8HM7QF-0X2N2M-GAWQXJ-7HY284" for "Key", without the quotes. That's exactly the same I do with the other GAotD apps that pass the key in a pop-up window. It has always worked before, but not with this app. I run Windows 2000 with SP4 + "Update Rollup 1 for SP4" (hardly any other updates though).

Hi Kristanix Software, thanks for giving us an opportunity to review (bash ?) your product..I love it when the author becomes involved, tho not designed for the mass public..If a photo ever needs to be converted to another format, then it's a keeper.. Am I missing something, besides the filters ? .. You need to take a serious look at the pricing..Best to you and yours..

#55 I'm not computer savvy either. (but I'm getting better) I personally tried irfanview recently and uninstalled it almost immediately. It does not have a user friendly interface, and unless you KNOW what you are doing with it it's hard to use. I suppose that if I had 20 hours or so to play around and figure it out, it might be a good program. But unfortunately I don't have that kind of time on my hands. The program offered today is extremely user friendly. That's what I look for in a program. I can't give you a lot of details about irfranview because like I said before, I uninstalled it. Maybe that helped a little, I hope so anyway.

To #56: I'm not sure if I mentioned it: It would have just been easier to do the whole folder, but I understood that Select All->Right-Click worked. Just an extra set of steps (And would be better for recursive folders too.)

BTW - this program works wonderfully! Does everything it says and I'm deleting all the other programs I have out there since this one does it ALL! Thanks!

Awesome software yet again, GAOTD! Don't mind all these complainers and ungratefully miserable peoples' comments. They're just happy to find some attention for their misery!

Us appreciative folks love what you are doing and doing quite well, Thank You!!! Hope they don't spoil it for everyone - the developers may get tired of the crappy feedback.

To the question that they keep installing and uninstalling and they keep getting the same registration name and key, first you have to type in the exact name the way it is given, next you have to make sure you are putting letters for zeros in the beginning and numbers in the end. I hope you can get it to work for you now, I have played with this since I downloaded this morning and it is great software. I just wanted to thank Giveaway of the Day for all their free software, they don't have to but they dooooooooooo. Thanks again.

Kick Ass interface, smooth program & swift programmers! Just like a fiesty badger its ferociously furry lol... actually fabulous piece software this is for your pics... Just one lone problem and it does not allow for adding folders only lone files or sub files (not) folders anyway a small setback, this software is still a welcome, nice addition to our tools.. pleasure to use thanks.

P.S. for those of you that cannot seem to find what you need, iam astonished if you have internet access and a few bucks to spare you can find anything for the pc you could ever need, PEACE OUT! and btw if you cannot well then you havent been on the internet long enough now have you... ~c(___)~

...ATH+++

#35 So what? here's what.... WinMe is a dead operating system (i.e. beyond service life.) Should programmers be writing DOS compatible or CP/M compatible software as well to satisfy everyone who's still running archaic operating systems? I don't think there's much of a profit demographic involed in doing that... do you? ( sly grin)

IrfanView might have better read support for image formats, but then you need to install tens of plugins to each and every one. Also IrfanView only supports to save to 19 image formats, while ImageBadger supports to save to 46.
