Tx for this but I get only 5 min conversion!? Is it like this for other users- only 5 min and you need to buy licence for longer videos? Or have I missed something?

Harney, You need to register the giveaway license key to make it a full version. You may set your name as the License name. And the license key is the license code.

Downloaded and installed without issues. But no HEVC 10 bit encoding option in the HD mode (come on, this is 2020, most high-end phones support 10 bit videos)? Not a keeper for me. I will stick to Handbrake. Thanks.

mukhi, There is HEVC encoding option in HD mode.

Harney,
That's only the old 8 bit option. No 10 bit.

Found an apparent bug in the user interface operation. Where I add a file twice and configure one instance to say AVI and specify an output dimension of 640x480 and on the second instance in the list I choose say ASF and select 640x480 here too, when I reselect the first instance it's output video size has reverted to "Auto" which means same size as input video and I can put it back to 640x480 and when I select the second video it switches profile correctly BUT again reverts to "Auto" output size. The only way I can get it to stick at the chosen output dimensions is to deselct the other video and only work on one video at a time, otherwise the selected codecs for each video in the list just reverts to the default output setting instead of the selected output setting.
Save | Cancel
TK, You may click Save as to save your customized output video format and parameters.
Save | Cancel
Harney, why would I want to do that? I was trying to specify per file entry customisations with different output profiles foe each file. The program recognises the different profiles but does not retain the customisations for each file. I should not have to create customised saved profiles for each file in the list when the customisations are only needed for those specific files. It should maintain temporary custom profiles in memory for that session for each file in the list and discard them at the end of the session or when the items are removed from the list.

Yet another paid video converter... when you have free ones on the market that either offer more like Format Factory or even deliver better results than this one like VidCoder which is an Open source app. Shana Encoder or even Handbrake which is yet another converter which are miles better than any paid video converters on the market. Especially since a lot of the software/technology used to convert videos are in fact open source (free) as well.
Every single feature that they mention here are included in the ones I said. Plus they are completely free.

While this does apear to have a built in youtube downloader it looks like it's been forgotten by the developers, any youtube video URL I paste in after a min or so it reports invalid URL so they are not keeping up with youtubes unathorised content downloader countermeasures.

TK, To download youtube videos and music files, Allavsoft is highly recommended. It can download videos, music, subtitles etc from youtube, vimeo, facebook, spotify, medici tv, udemy etc 100+ websites.
It is easy to use: Simply copy and paste the video or music url to Allavsoft and click Download button.
It also has the Record option if the download option does not work.

Harney, I was commenting on THIS giveaways program not asking for a youtube downloader... I have many youtube downloaders.
The purpose in commenting on non-working features is to bring them to the devlopers attention and remind them that everything needs to work when selling a product. Another thing I was unable to find that I think is really necesary since to do any complex editing one would need to make multiple re-encode, trim, crop, watermark, effects passes is to have at least one lossless output profile so we don't have to use a lossy codec like x264 or x265 for each pass. huffyuv is one butr FFMPEG.EXE supports a few lossless codecs as you will find if you read through the list FFMPEG.EXE -codecs | more and look at the audio and video codecs with "L" in their feature flags. Currently one just has to accept progressive quality loss with each trim and merge pass! Or use a real Video Editor of course.

Have been waiting for a video converter to show up on here for a while, normally they're like busses and you wait for ages and three come along at once.
I'm quite impressed with this one, it goes beyond the simple conversions offered by many of the others. I especially like the ability to crop the video frame, which is ideal if you've been using a screen recorder and it recorded beyond the intended border. Being able to mirror and flip is handy, and the effects are a welcome addition. The video I cropped as a test also went through faster than I'd expected on a lowly dual core celeron laptop.
Definitely one I'll be hanging onto.

The box that enables GPU acceleration is dark grey and cannot be check-marked??
Save | Cancel
Pat.L, Do you have a proper video card installed? The box is selectable in the software for me, and I have a GTX 1070 in my system.
Personally I don't use GPU acceleration when I convert videos. Yes, it's much faster with the GPU, but from my experience there are drawbacks, and CPU provides better results. With GPU acceleration the quality isn't quite as good (but it's close) and the resulting file size is crazy huge compared to CPU.
Save | Cancel
Pat.L, Same here. I wonder if it's due to the GPU in question, mine is integrated into the Ryzen 5 CPU so maybe it's looking for separate graphic cards.
Save | Cancel
Pat.L, you have to have an old NVidia GPU chip and driver that supports CUDA... It does not support modern NVENC only cards or Intel or AMD etc.

I have several video editors. The reason I have all of them is, each one has it's pro's and con's to them. iDealshare VideoGo is at the top of my list. It's the fastest for editing and converting videos. It has a lot of custom settings to use for one video or a batch of them. No big learning curve, with a clean user friendly inter-face. If you do any video editing at all, download this one. Thanks to GOTD and idealshare for the offering!

Jim C, ever tried VSDC video editor? even the free edition reveals what a toy "editor" this is! So many things you just could never do with this are freely accessible in VSDC like a timeline where you can apply effects over a timeline on selected frames use colour keying and have multiple videos on screen at once like is done on TV where presenters are presenting from home using smartphones and two or three presenters can be placed side by side and synced up. Could create a virtual choir video using just VSDC and dozens of individually shot videos with their own sound tracks... can you do that with this? Of course not it's not, it's not a serious Video editor! Even the version of FFMPEG.EXE it uses is ancient.... not sure why lot's of comments go on about needing additional installed codecs since it uses ffplay_dll.dll and the FFMPEG DLLs when rendering videos not external LAVfilters or the like. It is NOT a video editor but an FFMPEG video converter GUI with rudimentary editing tabbed wizards which then are compiled into ffmpeg.exe command line parameters when you finally ask it to convert the input videos. Basically FFMPEG.EXE does ALL the editing and conversion the program is just a GUI to help generate the FFMPEG.EXE command line and monitor the child threads progress.

Ajayi, in all probability it is computer virus and malware free but there is NO automated method available in the computing world to prove to 100% certainty that ANY program is void of any possible malcode or viral code. Remember Windows itself includes known vulnerabilities to Microsoft and NSA that could be considered as malicious code since they enable back door access and if they become known by people with malicious intent and suitable social engineering is combined with crafted malcode our windows machines become theirs. It's all a balance of probabilities and risk evaluation. But as far as all indicators go there is not any known malicious code in todays program.

I like really like this giveaway!
I got an earlier giveaway - and since than it is my most used converter for TV recordings hat I want to keep for my movie collection and soon learned to love this tool.
For sure there are some faster, some more elaborated etc. alternatives...
BUT this one gives me a relative easy possibility to control almost any parameters that I like to juggle with.
1.) Indeed it is (mainly) "just" a front-end for the (free!) ffmpeg.exe , but with MUCH more convenience than the mere command-line tool.
2.) NOR - I don´t´know whether it handles 4K/UHD (I just have a Full HD TV and do not need computer hardware for UHD either...)
3.) The program´s ability to save own profiles are sufficient for me and profiles are easy to load (e.g. I did only save 4 Profiles which just adopt and I fine tune if needed for a conversion task !)
THE MOST IMPORTANT FFMPEG PARAMETERS and their MEANING:
- Video "SIZE"
... matters(...!) for the output size: HD (1280x720) might be enough for some videos...
- "ConstantRateFactor" (0-51)
... says how fine (grained) the quality will be; MY experience is: often "23" is sufficient quality (and is sufficient fast in conversion!) you will see more and more artefacts if using higher values. For visual really good results try "18", for good and even better results experiment with "21" -"19".
keep in mind: the lower the value the bigger the resulting file will become!
- "Preset" (ultrafast,superfast,veryfast,faster,fast,medium,slow,slowest)
...the ACCURACY of the images is NOT influenced by this, but it results in better compression (as known by e.g. with packers, like zip or 7zip etc.)" - at the cost of time...: but the film will get smaller. (I found and suggest "Veryfast", which gives the best ratio for Size/time!)
- "Tune" (Auto,Film,Animation,Grain,Stilimage,Psnr,Ssim,Fastdecode,zerolatency)
... are referring to the input material; "Auto" is regular a good choice (but sometimes...: watch input material..!)
- "Rate" (Auto,60,50,30,29,7...)
... My advice; in most cases leave it at "Auto" - there is not(or almost no) gain in size while reducing the rate.
BTW: I found, the old giveaway key just worked for all updates since Version 6 up to this current version
Even so (or the more..) Thank you very much for this giveaway!

FWIW & in case it helps...
ffmpeg includes quite a few encoders [some depend on how it's compiled] -- some like x264 & x265 are good, while others like the mpg2 encoder, not so much -- and the parameters used depend on the encoder. It's not as big a problem nowadays, but the encoder settings used effect not just the quality of the encoded video, and speed performing encoding, but the compatibility with various players. Encoding for Blu-ray & DVD are probably the most critical in that respect, followed by the built-in player that comes with most Android devices, e.g. phones. That last is a big reason why the presets in apps like iDealshare VideoGo are so valuable.
That said, while the x264 encoder can do an excellent job encoding FHD [ie 1080p] AVC/H.264 video, it's Very CPU intensive, meaning generally pretty slow. Using Intel, Nvidia, or AMD GPU hardware encoding speeds things up dramatically if/when you use a specialized app, like A's Video Converter [for AMD], but you lose some quality. ffmpeg & apps using it can optionally allow some limited GPU assist, but there are other encoders that use both the CPU & GPU that are faster, yet higher quality than pure GPU encoding, e.g. the AVC encoder used by Nero.

Installs easily, with minimum off fuss and no complicated way to get the registration info.
This an application that has pieces cobbled together from other offerings.
There multi core support but no mention of GPU acceleration, which is evident in the slow conversion process.
Basically it offers nothing that has not been seen before and misses out on key aspects that for me, makes it not worth considering and in a very very crowded market sector, including free offerings that do more, $49.99 is way overpriced.
Save | Cancel
PhilS, There's a check box for GPU acceleration, as shown in the 2nd sample screen
Save | Cancel
Pat L., It only supports the old sample cuda x264 NVidia GPU acceleration not the more modern NVENC or Intel or other GPU maker accelerations.
Save | Cancel
Pat L., There is no option on mt machine, which indicates that the support is limited to certain GPU's, where such software should support all 3 of the main players.

Can this program convert H.265/HEVC codec?
Save | Cancel
Vangelis,
YES... BUT you must have a en-/de-coder installed.
If it does NOT work for your, my personal experience is: good to install LAV-Filter (no need to juggle with their settings: leave everything like LAV-Filters suggests...
Save | Cancel
Vangelis, Yes, it can convert h.265/hevc code to other codes.
It also helps to convert other codec to H.265/HEVC
Save | Cancel
Vangelis,
At least if you install a HEC .265 codec (e.g. LAV-filters)
Save | Cancel
wolf, No additional codecs are required! For in GUI rendering it uses ffplay_dll.dll and the FFMPEG codecs to render video in the wizards because it is not compiled with the GPLv3 codecs enabled they bundle in a seperate xvid codec dll for that type of codec but if you run the installed FFMEPG.EXE -codecs | more
you will see ALL the discussed encoding and decoding is enabled even though it is a 2015 version of the codebase. LAVfilters is NOT loaded by this program or FFMPEG.EXE when launched when reprocessing an x265 mkv video and cropping out the black bars and re-encoding it in x265 mp4 with different bitrate AAC audio rather than original AC3 codec.
Save | Cancel
Vangelis, in the output codec selection GUI type in the search HEVC and it will show you two sets of HEVC profiles, choose HD one if you want to handle HD to UHD and 4K recoding.
All profiles settings can be tuned in the advanced tab of the "Setting..." buttons window. including specifying non-standard video output sizes.
No external codec installation is required or will make any difference to the operation of this program as it uses FFMPEG and internal DLLs and does not look at the sysems DirectShow or Video For Windows filters/codecs since it does ALL encoding and decoding via FFMPEG binaries.
