I had version 3.49 of this from a previous giveaway and installed the 4.04 installer from their website and it picked up the PRO license from the 3.49 giveaway so do not be surprised if you install over the top of a previous giveaway and find you cannot apply the new license key.... it apparently does not need it :)
Still missing the settings to set the chosen output video containers settings like chroma sub sampling and bit rate or two pass or even choose what codec is used for the various video containers.. or choose the Audio codec and settings.
Chose 1366x768 AVI output no soundtrack and the AVI file reports a bitrate of 10Mbits per second in windows explorer with AVC/H.264 FFMPEG codec... Xmedia Recode reports it at 1032kbps. WEBM container uses VP8 codec and just over half the file size of the H.264 AVI version of the same slideshow MP4 and MOV both also use AVC/H264 with same bitrates as the AVI slideshow. Seeing as they use FFMPEG they could use VP9 and HEVC or any number of possible codecs and containers but they've settled for these two codecs and that's it.

Installed on W10. Make sure to continued with the update to ver 4.04 when prompted and use the serial number found in the text file to register. You may have to turn off your AV for the install to work. Once installed go to setting to setup your preferences and you also have the option to disable "Check for updaes automatically".
I was able to create a slideshow from about 40 files made up of jpgs and png files including background music with out any effort. I kept the size to 1600X900 and save it as an mp4 with a file size of 325Mgs.
I was quite surprised how well it worked, it's one of those handy and fun progams to have on your PC.
My thanks to the programmers for the lifetime license and also thanks GOTD. It's a keeper for me.

I've just finished "playing" with Ice Cream Slideshow Maker Pro v4.04 (immediately upgraded after install) for about an hour. My overall impression is that I think it's greatest strengths are probably it's greatest weaknesses. Let me explain. My "go-to" slideshow apps are PTE AV Studio 10 (current) and Photodex Producer v9 (previously) which are both relatively expensive to buy, ultra complex in their myriad of capabilities and have steep learning curves to use effectively and efficiently - these are the types of programs that professionals (not me) would use to create presentations that are sold for premium dollars.
Ice Cream Slideshow Maker Pro does NOT fit into that category. It DOES, however, present you with a means of EASILY, with practially NO learning curve, producing an attractive, attention getting, slideshow that you can be proud of, all done within a few minutes and output/uploaded easily to social media platforms, as webm files to place within HTML 5 code and as standalone MP4, MOV or AVI for your PC or "Smart" TV.
Here are some pluses and minuses:
- The ability to use audio files (MP3, WAV or WMA) LONGER than your show and then Fade it out at the end i.e. last slide) regardless of the audio length is a definite plus. Missing is the ability to "sync" your show (slide & transition times) to the music automatically. You're also limited to a single audio track with no varying volume control during playback. (Multiple audio tracks are used for voice overs, sound effects, etc., during playback)
- Another pls - The ability to add text to your tile and individual slides. The **BIG** negative here is that you can NOT change the font size or rotate the text. Also, the text positions are predefined to nine (9) locations on the slide, 3 left 3 center and 3 right, and cannot be changed or adjusted.
- A few more negatives: cannot add blank slides (for example to have just text - need to create a blank image externally then import into program), cannot add video clips, cannot scale, crop or adjust photos, no "zoom" in/out or rotate slide capability during display - only zoom in/out transitions, cannot rotate or "animate" slides, no keyframes plus many, many more options that are available in the more sophisticated programs like PTE or ProShow.
Regardless of the negatives, the bottom line here is, by virture **OF** the missing features, if you're looking for a simple, VERY easy to use slideshow maker that can produce some attractive and attention getting slideshows with VERY little effort, give it try. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at your results.

Eric Force, you can use mutiple music tracks not just one, did you try it?

Hi buckoooo, thanks for your correction. Yes, you are correct, additional audio tracks CAN be added and would be concatenated. (i.e. joined together as a single, longer track) This would be handy if your show lasted longer than the length of a single track. Thanks again for your clarification. I was not clear in my original post as I SHOULD have stated you can not "layer" audio tracks. All the best!

We have had slideshow creators previously (Thundersoft Slideshow Factory for e.g.) that have allowed video clips to be added as well as photo's. Todays product homepage seems to suggest only static images accepted. Is this the case?
Save | Cancel
Kevin Allcock, yes, no video clips, just images. See my "review" that I'm up loading now.

Eric Force, Thanks, very helpful review that puts it all in perspective.

Adjusting the photo time or adjusting the audio offset, manually, is a pain when you're trying to find a mp3(s) to match the time of the slideshow. I have tried another program which did it automatically, but was too expensive to buy. Icecream slideshow would be perfect if it could do the adjusting automatically as well.

wynford, I agree with you and most higher end apps have that feature. (i.e. sync slides to music) Today's offering, however, DOES provide (sort of) a work around IF you do NOT need the entire length of the audio file to be heard. As long as your audio file plays LONGER than your actual slideshow, you can just select a FADE OUT value of a few seconds (3 - 5 secs suggested) and your audio will gently fade out as the last image is displayed. Most people (in my experience) would not realize that they had not heard the entire audio selection as their attention would be focused on the VISUAL aspects of your show.

Installed easily and immediately, prior to registering, informed me of an update to version 4.04. Downloaded and installed the update and then registered with code found in the README file. I added a folder of images from my motion-detecting camera and created a video file. I played with a few of the settings and created the video file successfully. All in all a keeper for me due to ease of use and acceptable results.

Rick,
You were right. Seems to work.
Install the upgraded version right over the old version (without prior removal) and then go to settings on the bottom right to reach the activate button. Here just paste in the code (don't worry about the hyphens).
Thanks for the tip.

Rick, worked for me too! Thanks for the info!

Rick, After installing update, is it still the PRO version (which would mean they allow updates? But for how long?)?

And to have the audio match the length of the video so that there's no pause

Nice app... but I can't figure out how to change 'My Slideshow' as shown in the preview window to something I want for a title. If that can't be changed, it's going to be deleted.

wynford, and to have the video match the length of the audio
Save | Cancel
wynford, If you click on "My slideshow" it takes you to a window "Edit text for Starter Slide" where you can change the text (or at least I can). Alternatively you can click on the "eye" symbol to hide starter and then "Add Color" to create your own starter (or trailer or whatever).

Tyke, yeah I figured that out after I posted the message... now if only they could make the audio match the video without a blank part at the end of the video

wynford, There is also a short video on you tube; search ice cream slide show video it is 11 minutes long

I tried just once and it works really fine.
Thanks a lot Icecream apps and GAOTD

Like IceCream Video Editor, this software is unable to adapt the interface to à 175% of Windows Screen setting. Setting on a 10" tablet with high-resolution.
The app is displayed outside the screen and if i try to force it on the display, everything is blended in a horrible interface !
I explain that to Icecream team for the video editor, and nothing change with new versions. Same problem here. Unusable !

No high resolution Ken Burns Effect = no go.

Harry Mangurian, on their web site it is stated that you can "Create slideshows with up to 3840x2160 resolution."

Mario, That's not what Harry was talking about. A high resolution Ken Burns Effect takes a bigger static image than the output frame size and pans around the static picture to give the illusion of camera movement.

Mick, make sure your cursor is at the very left position of the field where you paste the serial number into.

Burkard Lipgens, I'm assuming, my friend, that you didn't read my immediate follow up, which stated:
"I forgot to add that this is when trying to install the program, NOT when trying to insert the Registration key."
The 'problem', as I see it, is with the 'wrapper' that GOTD insists on 'surrounding' their giveaways with.
Save | Cancel
Mick, that occours when you have corruption of the https connection the wrapper makes to GAOTD server to check giveaway validity and retrieve the correct key needed to decrypt the setup.gcd packaged installer. Try using a wired network connection or a different internet connection altogether.
