I've seen and installed this program in the past. It's a piece of software that gives you basic hardware info about your computer. From the GUI, you can easily conclude that it was made for people with poor eyesight, hence why the font size and full windowed UI. Back then, I considered this to be a work in progress beta software.

After installing it just now, my opinion hasn't changed. For example, when clicking the "Operating System" icon, nothing happens, it's just a black screen. Other things that don't work or list anything but a dash mark are 4 out of 6 CPU specs, CPU Cache Memory and Other Features are blank. In the RAM section, you have an odd looking (archaic) box that doesn't look like the rest of the GUI. I'd say it looks similar to an Excel spreadsheet. Controllers & Resources area looks the same, all scrolling Excel spreadsheet-style windows.

There are a lot of other choices at the bottom of the left pane for benchmarking your CPU and other things. I'd say it's an okay program and I would rate it at a 5 or a 6 out of a perfect 10. Is it worth keeping? I can only answer for myself and that is NO! There are lots of other programs, some listed below by other responders, that far outweigh HARDiNFO 8 PRO.... and they're all freeware.

Lastly, the author of this program really did some nice work on the layout and color choices but over the many years, it hasn't improved at all. It's still buggy and you need to make the spreadsheet windows look like the rest of the GUI. It does have a lot of promise. Perhaps you need more ideas from others that work in this program, as well. Look to see what is obviously not working, fix the GUI so it is uniform throughout and perhaps add more to the program that yields more usable data because what you have now is limited and that does not impress the tech mined individuals.

A lot of negative feedback, which is OK because people should test it and provide honest feedback. However, there are quite a few more upvotes that don't appear to reflect the number of negative comments.

Waiting for the license and is not coming to my email. Checked my main and spam folder. Nothing. Tried to resubmit my email and I get a 404 not found splash page once I click submit again. So far, not too impressed. Hoping it comes soon so I can check the program out.

Tried reinstalling 3 times. Hence just wasting my time.....

Tobiasson, if you go to the HOME PAGE link here, and scroll down you'll see the comparisons.

To me, the differences are minor if all you want to do is 'see' what you have. Pro has support, export of data, commercial use, etc.

Went to their website to look at the company. Not much there to indicate quality of product. For $79? Why does anyone need this for that price? I recommend that one use the free CPU-Z for CPU, motherboard, memory details and the standard windows information found at: control panel - system information - system summary. Maybe this requires a little work, but not much for a savings of $79.

    That's my opinion.

There are some 'quirks' with the program. I'm on a Dell XPS8940 W11 Home system.

First, the FULL SCREEN only is annoying. I am on a 32 inch display. Luckily I use Dell's Display Manager and was able to use that to create a Window view. Unfortunately, although it did work for a majority of the options some did not display well.

Overall, the display problem seem to be the boxes that break up the options selected appear to be fixed sizes. Also, some data when too long to fit in said boxes and had no scroll bars.

Ran the CPU test. Was told to stop all programs, even those in the background... I just ran it and didn't use the PC. Said it could take 7 minutes, maybe took 2. INT results were ZERO... Online compare, all much older CPU's (mine is an 11th Gen Intel i7) and it got a number, 149 that was 3x higher than the closed other CPU... almost useless.

In many cases, no data was shown.

Display Benchmark, didn't get the card RAM correct, 3GB vs 6GB.

Under SYSTEM, Operating System, OS Info tab, no Information? However I can't tell if everything is there or not? Both Revo Uninstaller and the Control Panel Programs and Features agree on 99 programs, I don't feel like counting that list.

CPU page doesn't pick up the Temps, other programs can? Speed is wrong, both current and max. are the same, not the case.

Display Monitor, I've got two, on part of the CPU and a Discrete Video card, and it can't find that card it seems.

Have a Logitech Wireless Keyboard and Mouse. Mouse info is wrong, not made by MS.

Printer is an HP All-In-One, can't find the FAX...

Network Adapter, select the wired connection to my Router, NO DATA shown.

A lot more 'missing/questionable' data here...

I'll 'play' with it for awhile, but I'll delete it soon. Nice idea, but needs some fixes. Would be nice to have this all in one place.

IrvSp, you are correct in your observations, I have similar misinformation after running this software, like I have 32GB SRAM and it shows 8GB and my monitor is 4K but it shows 1060 progressive at 60 HZ, but the monitor is running at 128 HZ refresh rate and so on. I stopped after that and uninstalled it.

Reply   |   Comment by Martin  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+15)

Martin, I didn't list all the 'problems' I found. There are more, nothing makes me think this program is complete or tested completely, especially for W11.

I do think it would have been nice to have everything in one place though.

By the way, the TOOLS on the top menu has Windows Information as a choice. Basically the same info laid out differently. Wonder if it reads that as well for info.

I do like the 'picture'' of a screen capability though...

It does have some nice features, but not enough for me to keep it.

Oh, I have 16GB of RAM and it picked that up correctly.

Most of the info supplied on screen is useless, you can get that info directly from your OS if you look deeper in the settings and the task manager. Do not fall for the benchmark, they are done under streaked testing conditions when everything else is disabled, you can not do that on a home computer and connecting to Internet for benchmarking, is a farse, your results will always be inferior to the standards compared with.

Reply   |   Comment by Ben  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+16)

Ben, you are right on the money for the benchmarking, you can not be connected online with hundreds of tasks running in the background in your local computer and to expect true benchmarking, you are disadvantage big time to get true results.

Reply   |   Comment by Martin  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+8)

Ben, Hi, you don't need to connect to internet in order to benchmark your PC. You can use that feature only if you want to compare your benchmark results with other users.

Reply   |   Comment by Ultimate Systems  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

Ultimate Systems, I did ran few benchmarks locally and than compare them with the same or similar setup online, all of them where different each and every time when compared with the online info. Not a reliable comparison to use this software for speed testing also, like CPU on the task manager shows 58% CPU usage but when I run a HD video, the CPU shows 100% usage and therefore can not comparable it with anything online.

After a somewhat "sophisticated" registration process, the program installs and runs fine. You get a lot of system info, but not more than for example the free Speccy or HWMonitor. Nice GUI cosmetic, but too big (full screen, not resizable). Many tools are simple switches to standard Windows infos. I' m missing (or didn't find) some realtime (graphical) monitoring tools (temps, voltages...). The program takes 50 MB on disk, while Speccy takes only 15 MB and HWinfo only 5 MB. I' ll keep it for a few weeks for further evaluation, but will probably desinstall later.

The program shows everything that sticks in your PC/laptop. Very clear. The (free) program works very expressively.
