I've recommended the free version of Game Booster to several friends who have had problems running particular games and they have always come back and told me the program worked well.
I've not had to use it so far, though may have to soon when Battlefield 3 is released (unless I can afford to update my computer before its release)
I'll have to check Game Prelauncher not heard of it until now. Thanks for the heads up BuBBy.
Edit:
I see your point about all of the extraneous features on the GUI. All it’s trying to do is impress.
I remember a story (from over 30 years ago) that one of my trainers recounted when I was training to be a terminal equipment technician while in the army.
“A guy was using an AVO meter (measures Amps, Voltage and Ohms {resistance} hence AVO meter), and was making out to someone who knew nothing of such things how ‘technical the thing was (though anyone acquainted with electrical paraphernalia will know it’s one of the most basic tools an electromechanical engineer would own (apart from one of those insulated screwdrivers with a light inside to warn of a current flow). The guy was trying to blind the person with technicalities when all he was showing was a blown fuse. You could have seen that it was blown without the equipment because most fuses found within electrical hardware are glass tubes with the fuse wire clearly visible”.
I’ve not used Game Booster for quite some time because I’ve not needed to. It’s had a few upgrades since I last used it and cannot remember it being so over the top. It was a simple piece of software the last time I booted it up without all the bells and whistles
