I Have No Tomatoes 8.4Mb
Here is a 3D arcade platform game that on first appearance resembles Pacman, though the gameplay itself is quite different, being much more reminiscent of Bomberman!
You, as a yellow tomato, have to run around each maze and smash or blow up as many tomatoes as you can. The variously colored tomatoes (red, green or blue) follow a set path, each being different. The tomatoes including yourself have short legs they walk on, oh, and big eyes. But each time you smash a tomato directly or a tomato smashes into you, you re-spawn which takes time. When you smash or bomb a tomato though, it turns into a gem, which when collected gives you different ‘weapons’ and points, that will help you smash more tomatoes and up your points total. Smashing more tomatoes using weapons gives you more gems and hence more weapons to get! The incentive for using weapons is that it avoids the hassle and time it takes to re-spawn (if you get out of the way yourself in time!), as well as being able by careful timing and placement to smash several or more tomatoes in one hit! You also get several or more gems to collect in this way. More gems will also get you one of nine special attacks you can choose to use. These specials include lightning bolts, napalm strikes, superhero potatoes, tomato traps and other strange and wonderful goodies. There is a time limit for each screen and you must smash or trap a certain number of tomatoes to proceed to the next level.
You have to choose between using weapons or smashing tomatoes directly, and sometimes getting hit in any case by other tomatoes. It all amounts to a great deal of fun!
There are teleports on some screens to help you move quickly. Controls are simple. Arrow keys to move, Spacebar to bomb/release traps. Right Alt key to use special attacks - or you can set your own choice of movement and action keys.
It’s a ten minute game, in that there are ten one minute levels to complete. But it sure gives a great ten minutes gameplay! If you can manage to smash five tomatoes in one bomb attack, the clock stops ticking.
There’s also a two player co-op mode and you can manually alter the config file if you want, to run the game windowed. It’s quite likely in two player mode that one player or the other will accidentally bomb their friend by mistake occasionally! Or for fun, if you wish!
The game is available for Windows, Mac and Linux. Very nice 3D isometric graphics, and music, and you can replace music files. Very entertaining and addictive gameplay!
