Room War 13Mb
Room War was the winner of The Game Creators Alienware Competition. You only need to play for a few seconds to see why it won!
The game takes place inside a brilliantly modelled 3D bedroom. The graphic details in this room and brilliant gameplay go way beyond what you expect from a freeware game and are really amazing. For example, you might fly round an orange carton past the ‘Ikea’ style unit to the guitar to the sofa complete with trousers thrown over the back!
The idea behind Room War is extremely simple, but very effective. You fly around the room, protecting your multi-display Alienware computer from the other evil aliens flying around, while chasing and firing at them and avoiding getting fired on by them. The only thing missing from the game is that you don’t get damage inflicted when you fly into something, so you don’t have to be too careful in your flying skills in avoiding neutral objects! Explosions and suchlike could be larger graphically, but this really doesn’t detract from gameplay!
To protect your computer system you need to lock onto the alien ships with the right mouse button and shoot them with the left while pursuing them. You must do all this while pulling off impressive maneuvers and dodging obstacles in the room such as a guitar, a Hi-Fi system, a TV and many other well designed and well-placed objects and of course dodging multi-fire from enemy ships! Actually you don’t get fired on too much at least on the easy game difficulty setting! Use the up arrow key to fly forward!
There are 2 green alien ships. These are on your side and if you get killed you will respawn into one of these.
The physics are also very good in the handling of the ship and the smooth movements you can make. The action takes place from a cockpit view with an overlaid heads-up display . You get a free extra life for each level completed and more and more enemy ships appear in each new level.
Besides the superb and well designed graphics, the gameplay itself is awesome. You will notice this if you get in a situation like I did when you are trying to lock on to a spaceship and you fly under the guitar and suddenly need to pull up at a 90 degree angle to avoid hitting the back of the couch. This game rocks!
I highly recommend this game to anyone looking for some real fun and excitement! You seriously won’t be disappointed!
It is listed in the Giveawayoftheday freeware pages. I would guess it needs a moderately decent PC to run the game smoothly.
