copmom, for dislocated shoulders 'got it put back in place' == 'reduced' and if there isn't anything more pressing, comes up as a 'handle asap'in my wilderness first aid checklist.
never used this technique before, but it's straightforward and simple. [amazingly painful, but it hurts sooo much less after. don't ask about before.]
I had to call somebody local strong enough to pull it back in, but I wasn't going to try and wait for a 'professional' to do the same thing [for money, and then tell me to go to the hospital for an X-ray. anyway. duh?] or try to ride over to a hospital with my arm stuck behind and above my head.
didn't get a ride [flat tire] until monday night, but all the doc can do once the shoulder's been reduced is offer a shoulder immobilizer and X-ray for chipped bones.
the latter came out no problem, and the former works well for about a week. then the R-O-M work starts. ow.
