Mine seems to have wiped all my entries. I wonder if it was obtained through GOTD and has reverted to a trial version, or some such - anyone else having problems or have any suggestions?
Problem with Evernote

Depends which version you are using. If it is the old one (2.2) which is what I still have, having purchased it before GOTD gave it away, I would doubt very much that it had reverted to a trial. However, mine does a daily backup into a place I designated during the setup (one of my external drives), so I would imagine yours does too. Something like your problem did happen to me once, and all I did was restore the backup and I was up and running again. If you have got V 3.0 I can't help but I know others have got that version.

Thanks for your reply, Nola. I'm still looking for the back-up file - where did you find yours?

If Nola could post the name of the back up file, or if its a user designated name the file extension; you could then do a search for any file extensions that evernote creates.
Alternatively you could create a new backup and see what the file extension is then do a search for the original back up. It may be that when you create your back up it will tell you where the default location is. :)

Brilliant, Rabb!! I'll give it a try...
One hesitation - If it's set for the new backup to overwrite the previous one, do you think System Restore will save me?

Depending on your version of Evernote ,it should be either an .enb file extension (version 2) or an .enex extension(version 3)
Normally Evernotes' notebook files are stored in the hidden AppData folder
(Vista/7)
C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Local\Evernote\Evernote\Databases3or the hidden Application Data folder in XP - if I remember correctly
Local Settings\Application Data\Evernote
As WhiteRabbit suggested do a search for either *.enb or *enex and use the import feature.
Another way to restore would be to log into your Evernote's account and sync your files -if you use the Evernote online storage, which I don't :)

Sorry Face, I was sleeping while you were online (being no doubt, on the other side of the world from you). As soon as I start my laptop Evernote 2.2 backs up the database to the 1TB external drive that I store everything on. Today's file is EverNote_Backup_20100209_084416.enb. To restore, I went into Evernote/File/Backup/Restore and followed the instructions. Took all of 25 seconds.
As to your question on maybe the new backup will backup what you have now, Evernote keeps 5 consecutive backups, when you find them choose one from before your database crashed, going by the date as above.
If you don't remember where you set up your backups, then follow Whiterabbit's search suggestion.
The one time I tried to do a Sync on Evernote was when I ended up having to do a restore, now that I come to think about it. So I personally don't touch the Sync option. I just make sure I only use Evernote on my main laptop.
I stress that this is the earlier version of Evernote.
