   As tonight’s game is going to involve giving out prizes, I though it important that we have a good turn out. It seems pointless running a competition if only a few players turn up for it, so I've set a minimum of six players for the competition to run.

   If we fail to get the numbers I will still run the server, but no competition will be held and I will 'probably not' attend myself; as something’s just cropped up for this Sunday - a day trip with the kids on Sunday afternoon

   The server name will be Giveawayoftheday - Unreal Tournament
   and the password will be cholon (all lower case).

   I’ll post more details as and when needed. If you have problems joining the server tonight please immediately post a note HERE stating the problem. I will periodically check the thread to see if anyone is having problems. You could also buzz me via Steam; though you’ll need to join the Giveawayoftheday Steam group first to be able to do that.

   If you are going to attend the game tonight please post your name in this thread rather than the usual Giveawayoftheday Steam group thread which is HERE - you can check out the competition details by following that link.

   to those that have already confirmed they are attending, a big thank you. If in the event of a no competition decision, I’ll probably put the games up at another event. This one was conceived at the last moment due to the Steam free weekend which was only advertised a few days go.

   sorry wrabbit, found the HDD, but the UT3 is unpatched, and I don't fancy ~3 GB dl to patch it so its compatible with the server. Maybe after my bandwidth cap rolls over though.

   btw I already have UT2003 and 2004, so even if I could participate, I wouldn't need the prize.

   Hey thanks for replying Chronopie No problem. Maybe another time. :) I was hoping with the free weekend, we'd get some new players joining. I thought it wuld be nice to introduce players not familiar with the game by giving then copies of the older games. Apart from the graphics upgrade and a few other things, the earlier games are just as good as UT3.

   After seeing the deal Steam has (I only saw it a few hours ago) it may have been just as easy for me to buy a deal and gift it out though, as three of the prizes need to be packaged and posted, which would cost about the same as the deal, which also includes a copy of UT3. I may just purchase it for another competition later, lol.

   Okay, the game should have started five minutes ago and I relaizedthat I last ran a server using my other computer that's offline, so i'm frantically downloading the server files now. according to the little indicator, it's going to take another 30 or so minutes to download the 1.33Gb file, so if you've come here to find out why the server isn't appearing in the server lists, you now know why.

   As no one has come forward to say they are interested in the competition, I'm declaring it null and void for now. I'll either run another competition with lots more notice or just give the games away to my local charity shop. :) It was alittle short notice, but I didn't know about the free weekend until a few days ago. 'Cest la vie'

   Thanks for the info Whiterabbit,I was a wee bit late getting to pc tonight,spent a while checking for server,gave up and checked in here to see if anything was up.Shame about tonights game(I actually made it this week),always another time.

   It's mainly my fault for not makng sure all was right before hand. Plus it was very short notice due to the Steam announcement being so late. They only announced the free weekend on Thursday morning/Wednesday evning ); also it was nerly 2 months ago since I last set up a UT3 server and had completely forgotten that the server files were on my secondary computer, which I said in my message to you (on your steam community page) was offline at the moment. It took me longer than expected to set up a dedicated server because I had to re download the patches, titan files and the server files for my hard copy of the game as it was un patched on this computer. When I'd managed that I had to disconnect my router but forgot to reboot my modem, which I usually always have to do, so coulld only get a LAN server to work initially. By the time I did get a server up and running the few who had turned in were too tired to play (including me.

   Next time I will definitely make sure the server is running a few hours ahead of time

   Sorry for any inconvinience to anyone else who may have happened to search for the serve. :(

   Pity things didn't work out last night as there may have been a couple of surprise copies of unreal tournamnet 3 to give away as well as th other prizes that were announced; (due to it being so cheap at the moment).

   Sorry Wabbit, I intended to be there. I had even download UT3 in preparation. Unfortunately, I decided to try and get my headset working to no avail so I decided to reinstall my sound card. BIG mistake. By 1:00AM Eastern I gave up. I managed to at least get my sound card working today but I'm kind of wary about the headset. Guess I just have to buckle down and do it.

    OMG Zombie has set up a forum specifically for the Steam group. i'll be posting most of my announcements over there, though this thread will remain open.
