I hope all UK community members are enjoying their bank holiday day off…. :). Here’s a couple of games that’ll keep you occupied for the rest of the day. Both are derived from some classic titles (i.e. DOOM and Mario Bros), though the first of the two bears little resemblance to the original as it’s a meld of the original and Diablo. Mario forever is developed by a fan base and is constantly being updated to add new content. Fall of Mars isn’t stricktly a full version game yet, but it was good enough for me to include in this project, if only to make you aware of its existence. :)

Doom Fall of Mars (4.75Mb)
Devildog posted a link to this game several months ago, but the link was dead. I completely forgot about the game until browsing through the games forums looking for something.
If you liked the original doom and Diablo you’ll love this different take on the game. It’s a combination of the ideas from DOOM and Diablo.. Instead of a first person perspective, which you got with DOOM, it’s been converted to a Diablo like interface.; that is you play from an isometric viewpoint, much like Alien Encounter, RIP and other games of that ilk.. It’s well made, well supported and there’s more updates coming soon. It’s still in the beta form, but I thought it definitely worth including in the freeware project. It was first released about this time last year. The game isn’t a full version, but I still thought it worth including. I don’t know when the final game will be completed because it’s a single developer and mot a team creating the game.
Here is an updated version of Doom: Fall of Mars. This is a complete re-work of the conceptual demo and features much more content. Yet more is still to come!
Doom: Fall of Mars is an RPG set in the classic world of Doom. You will fight many demons through the UAC facilities on the moons of Mars to the depths of Hell.

Mario forever v4.4 (23.2Mb)
This game is being updated regularly, and each time it gets one, new levels are added. There is a link (which I’ve not posted) found in the game details over at Gamershell that links to softonic, which purports to give you extra levels, though what I saw was broody young children trying to look cool (not sure about the site myself as I didn’t explore it further after clicking on an extra levels link and getting pictures of young people)
Mario Forever is really a classic Mario Games remake. Once again you strap on your wrench and hardhat and guide the chubby plumber through many skillfully made levels. The diversity of the levels is very impressive. You will have to get through levels ranging from underwater caverns to levels filled with hot lava.
