   Hi everybody!

   I know you are busy discussing important things here, still I wanna buzz a little. :)

   We are 5 today! And though GOTD was returning 504 error first 2 hours of today's promotion, it is now back. Safe and sound.

   We had a sort of celebration plan, successfully implemented in 2 blog posts. Don's miss a chance to pick up a couple of new interesting facts about Giveaway of the Day. ;)

   We would also like to congratulate all of you on our fifth anniversary. Our faithful visitors and ingenious reviewers, our patient moderators and bright Forum leaders! Thanks for your devotion!

   And of course, we congratulate everyone having their cake with candles to blow out today. All the best to you and your families.

   ps: Ashampoo Photo Commander 8 is still on. I saw BuBBy and rezidue had given helpful hints to avoid special toolbar's installation and stop getting info letters from Ashampoo. Make sure you check it.

   HAPPY BIRTHDAY GOTD!! I hope that this is just the beginning and there are many many more years to come! I still say that this was one of the best sights I have EVER found on the web and both staff and members are among the best as well!

   WOW - I nearly missed my bit of the birthday cake :)

   I expected a birthday party in December - didn't know that the great day is already today.

   Some time ago, as no spammers were keeping me busy, I scanned through the beginning of the forums, the first of the surviving entries is:

   The questions of the first users were not much different from today's questions - but the first users were full of ideas, where to get software, and what would be preferred.

   I remember my astonishment when I found GOTD shortly after the start. I didn't believe that it could be legal, no strings attached, and googled about it. It took some time before I dared to install my first giveaway. (Sadly, I have forgotten what it was.)
   Several months later, after having lurked everyday, I decided to register to the forums. My English was much worse than today ;) and I was too shy to ask a question.

   Let's have party now!

   Thank you very much to the Giveaway Project Team for the good idea and their hard and solid work for this success story.

   A very big happy birthday from me.

   Since discovering the giveaway site way back in November 2006 I've been a regular visitor, only missing days when I've been very ill, in hospital or on vacation (and being the saddo that I am I've even checked while on vacation when we've had the opportunity to visit an internet cafe or when I’ve taken my laptop with me (the last two vacations to the US had broadband provided in the hotel rooms)

   I've enjoyed the time I’ve spent here. i used to make the giveaway site (and the game site when it was every day) my first port of call while having my breakfast every morning. It was great wondering what programs and games would be given away. I used to download everything in the first several months simply because it was free, but then started be a little more discerning.

   Thanks to the giveaway project I've discovered applications I never realized I needed (lol) and some that I definitely didn't need, but found them to be fun (for example Wire Changer which I eventually purchased). Those that I've found really useful I've usually purchased (such as Avira and Process Lasso {still can't decide which of those is best}) and have thoroughly enjoyed my stay in the forums.

   I've made some good friends thanks to the giveaway project, some of which I talk to regularly via Team speak or Skype and I've even had one giveaway member around for dinner a few times and have been out for a meal with them.

   So again, a very big thank you to my favourite web site and free programs provider.
