I've got over 3,500 epubs on my Windows PC, and I can't get Epubor Reader to open any for reading. It wants to open them for editing--which I do not want to do. What's up?

Epub reader only, so books in other formats would need to be converted first. Renders images in the book OK but there are a limited number of fonts available for the text. Found going to full screen and back to windowed froze the program.
As others have said Calibre offers far more, there's also Bluefire and Thorium Readers as alternatives.

There must be some advantage to it. What can it be?

greg, try SumaturaPDF. Been using it for several years and so far it has read everything I've tossed its way. It's older but stable, free and open source. It's for all Windows, but will run on Linux/wine and has a small footprint. You can read more about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sumatra_PDF

Calibre is totally free and includes much more functions for e-books.

Boris,
Too limited a sample, I'm sure, but on a recent test conversion of a rather mainstream Epub book to PDF (because I didn't think the intended recipient had a solution for reading Epub), Calibre and at least one other such program failed miserably. Just an indecipherable mess of an output, even after tinkering with the settings quite a bit. There was one program I tried that did a lot better, but it's on another, seldom-used computer, so I'll need to retrace my steps to rediscover which one that was. Don't think it was from Epubor, but I could be wrong.
