Searching a 4gb SD Card. When I click "Skip Raw Search", the program crashes or just shuts down. Everytime. Anybody?

IMHO the program is doing its job.

I created a doc file, and then I corrupted it intentionally (with a hex editor). Then I tried to open the corrupted file with MS Word. As expected- it was not able to open the file.

Recovered the corrupted file with the today giveaway, and yes- MS Word was able to open the file without any problems. The text in the document was in Cyrillic alphabet- also no issues at all.

Keeper to me- thanks GOTD & MunSoft.

. . . to be able to recover "MS-compatible" documents created with other office-suite programs, such as Kingsoft, [Apache] OpenOffice, Calibre, and others. Although I/we have older versions of MS Office available on some of our family's PCs (2000, XP & 2003), it's just too expensive to keep purchasing SW from Microsoft *{just and opinion: it would be "nice" if Microsoft would offer discounts to customers that own previous versions, perhaps on a scale based on how many previous versions were purchased???!!!}* when free and/or far less expensive office suites are available that are more than adequate for virtually all tasks AND are compatible with Microsoft's office programs. Thus, I/we rarely use the MS programs. Note: when the need arises for a Microsoft version, the alternate office program is used and then the conversion is made using one of the older MS Office's programs (the conversion is checked and any formatting quirks are corrected). On rare occasions, a document gets lost or corrupted and a recovery program would provide insurance should no backup or copy be available (out of habit, we generally make back-up sets on external media--thus far avoiding any major problems or losses).

What does "Purchase a personal license" mean? If we get a license to use the software with this giveaway of the day, then what added value are we paying for when we purchase a "personal" license?

#4 , the file repair software you linked to has been flagged by chrome as malicious.

Initially I thought this was purely a recovery program for deleted files that was limited to Microsoft office file types.
On reading more information it would appear its claim to fame is to actually recover corrupted files, as explained on their web page.

If you had installed the January 15, 2014 MunSoft Data Recovery Suite 2.0, this is included. It is the same working version, which made and makes a good impression.

If you don't have it already, then this can be a real help with damaged office documents.


To the version 2.0. If this is a working version, there is no need to update this version as long as the file structure in Windows&Office does not change. A longer existing version 2.0 makes IMHO a better impression, than version 15.382RC31V2.
