Dupinout Duplicate Finder is a small yet powerful duplicate finder for Windows. It lets you find duplicate documents, photos, music, videos, archives and more. Using the automated scan algorithms, the search results are accurate and faster. Once your scan is finished, you'll be able to mark/unmark files automatically using the selection assistant and then take an action of your choice (Permanently delete/ Move to Recycle Bin/ Move to Folder/ Rename Files/ Replace with Shortcuts).
Dupinout Duplicate Finder comes with other handy tools, namely “Folder Compare” and “File Organizer”. With Folder Compare, you can compare two folders and get a list of the same, different and additional files. With File Organizer, you can keep your files organized in an orderly folder structure.

Suggestion- to use different colors (or, perhaps, a limited highlight line) when clicking on an item (for instance, when you want to see the Preview).
The program groups the duplicates and identifies those groups by coloring the lines with light-blue (or purple, for intance): let's call that a 'duplicate-group-highlight'.
When you click on one of the pics (in order to check the Preview), that line becomes highlighted; let's call that a 'preview-highlight'. Although it's a little bit of different color, the highlight goes for the entire length of the line. Thus, it's difficult to tell to which group that line pertains: to the group above, or to the one below. I continuously need to click on a different, further line, so that the 'preview-highlight' disappears, in order to identify the group when I was working at that moment.
Basically, it would be easier if - once the 'preview-highlight' is done for a line - I was also able to know if that particular line has (or not) a 'duplicate-group-highlight'.

Installing and using was really easy. Tested by searching duplicates in my pictures folder (129 GB, more than 58000 photos). Toke only a pair of minutes and gave accurate results. Preview windows is very practical for verifications. The only thing I' m missing here is a search by similarity option, which is useful to find modifications of photos. But unfortunately this should slow down the program, and speed is a key feature here. I tried already a few other duplicate finders and DupInOut is the most effective I found. A keeper for me. Thanks to the authors and to Giveawayoftheday !

Actually the “Activation Instructions.pdf” included in the file indicates to click the About link but it's really the Activate link to enter the license key.

Not sure if it was something I did but the instructions in the PDF say to click About then enter the supplied code. When I clicked about it did not present the license entry field but seemed to create an Activation selection to the left of settings. When I clicked it I was able to enter the license key and the software was tagged as "Activated". Like I said I'm not sure if I created this senario somehow.
I ran the program against my data drive and received a lot of entries. Many entries are because I have the same files in my Statements & Bills folders as in my Tax reporting folders. On the next run I'll exclude the Tax reporting folders. The cleanup process worked fine so this is definitely a keeper.

On earlier versions, once scan is completed it was impossible to organise the list of duplicates into size order so that large dupes could be eliminated.
Has this now been rectified in the new version?
I dont wish to download and lose the non time-restricted version I have as I see this one dies after 3 yrs.

If I understood you correctly, you’re asking whether it is possible to re-sort the duplicates by their size.
Yes, you can do that. Just click on the "File Size" column-head.
I would suggest you to uninstall your previous Giveaway version and update to this newer one. It contains many new features and improvements. Please have a look at the version history: https://www.dupinout.com/changelog/

Terry I., I didn't see the 3 year limitation on the license. Where did it say that? All I saw was the 60 group limit on a regular free trial, which is removed when you add the GOTD license.

Thanks for the helpful information regarding the new version of DupInOut Duplicate Finder. Frankly, I'd feel guilty using the program for the generous three three years given without purchasing a license. But that's just me, I guess.
