As its name suggests, this software is specially for removing iTunes DRM and converting iTunes M4V videos such as iTunes movies, TV shows, Extras. Yet it can do much more than that. You can use it to convert any other common videos like your home films or videos shot by yourself as well. Besides, it has the powerful features which are not available from other competitors. For example, you can edit your videos like add a watermark, audio effect, trim/cut videos and you can preview the videos during editing without exporting. All in all, this is an almighty software that can meet any requirements of your daily video converting.

sara, here's a suggestion in the giveaway zip you downloaded... you did download from here didn't you and not the trial download from their website? There is a file specially named readme.txt for a special reason... you are EXPECTED to read it before installing the acompanying setup.exe and certainly before posting comments about missing codes!

rsingh,
Duh! Well, I didn't have time to download it and try it out, and thought I would get an opinion from somebody who used the program.

What's the point in having a discussion forum if people are unwilling to answer a question as basic as to the quality of the program in question?

This is probably obvious but this program requires iTunes to function.

TK,
if you read the lines of text at the top of the page you will see that it says"Remove DRM from iTunes M4V Movie Purchases & Rentals."
I guess it should have been in bold 24 point type.
Shame on them for hiding it in with the regular text at the same font and point size along with the other info.
So if you do not use itunes or have any videos that are M4V then why would you want to download this?

Bob, if you read as written it is just linking the name iTunes as the originator of M4V DRM protected video files, nothing more. It is absolutely not saying you have to use iTunes to use the program to remove the DRM.

You could have obtained the M4V files from file sharing websites or programs or neigbours thinking you could remove the DRM from them with this program from that description, which you could not. You'd need iTunes an apple id and DRM protected M4V you had bought from apple using that same account to get this to use iTunes DRM decoder to produce a video stream that this could then either transcode to an mp4 or re-encode it to a differnt codec.

They say specifically on their site that this requires iTunes 12.9 or earler I think we should have been entitiled to that specific system requirement here too!

From https://www.drmare.com/m4v-converter-for-win/tech-spec.html

"System&Hardware Requirements

Windows XP, Vista, Win 7, Win 8, Windows 10

Ootje, yes it can be used a generic ffmpeg gui based video converter but as the description says:

"As its name suggests, this software is specially for removing iTunes DRM and converting iTunes M4V videos such as iTunes movies, TV shows, Extras."

No one would buy an GUI for an OLD XP compatible build of FFMPEG rather than a current version 4.x build of FFMPEG program and codecs. I note they have no attribution to the open source products they use or the acompanying licenses... but why would anyone expect a developer building software to circumvent a different software companies copyright DRM also respect the copyrights of those open source products they build their product around... and yet they exepct others to respect their copyright licensing!

Where's the registration key? I can install it, but it appears to be the trial version.

It's video. I guess you don't use iTunes so this one might not be for you.

Jerry, I don't need iTunes. But this is in the text; TV shows.

Jerry, As far as I know, Apple has stopped using DRM for a long time.

Alex Legrand, Apple uses DRM to protect its movies.

Alex Legrand, I believe they are meaning Apple TV video files.

Jerry, If you have read all the comments you can see that the program can do more than just convert m4v.

TK, .....Apple TV video files......I have never seen or been able to download such movies. Either it is mp4, mkv, or m2ts. With video codec; H264, audio codec; mp3, ac3 and / or dts.

Reply   |   Comment by Alex Legrand  –  2 months ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-4)

Alex Legrand, of courese you would not have been able to download such Apple TV video files as they are DRM encrypted using apples propietary technology and only accessible by the authorised apple device tied to the subscribers account... no other device can view them so no one would share them unless the DRM was removed first by the original subscriber then shared as decrypted MP4 file. This program is inteneded to allow the legit subscriber to remove the DRM so unathorised devices can play the same media and those unprotected files can then be illlegally shared via the services you talk of using.
