Just opened up some of the saved tabs I had active on this vendors server and cannot get access to the website any more.... is it down for good? All is it down style services show the site as down from many locations around the world so it's not just me.

TK, and today when I visited the site is back up but uses a SELF-SIGNED SSL certificate so modern browsers like chrome and firefox block access outright as such certificates are not secure unless you install it in your own certificate store and IF you are stupid enough to do that then no other certificate can be trusted with an untrustworthy certificate installed. (So don't do it) Any legitimate commercial enterprise website wishing to use a secure internet connection has plenty of options without resorting to a dangerous self-signed certificate.

The only geographic information I have been able to glean about this offerings vendor is their website is located in the Ukraine and that's it! All other information is either not disclosed or is hidden behind anonymising services intended to protect personal domain registrations NOT corporate domain registrations. There is an email server on the webserver IP number but it does not route to any normal email boxes like postmaster, sales, support. suggesting it has probably never been configured especially since the SMTP response headers report the domain "example.com" where it should say the server owners corporate domain for the mail server. Not sure why this vendor needs to be so secretive about who and where they are, maybe it's a lone developer without corporate identity and about to enter a witness protection scheme so they have to be so secretive. Does anyone know what "SWEBS" stands for or means? Does GAOTD or sharit.com the payment processor this offerings vendor uses even know who they are co-operating with?

The Menu header in the inital sample page offered in the trial editor and the registerd and activated editor is a little misleading by including a Login entry when there is NO Login module or facility to drag and drop module to admin a login scenario on any server. To use Login functionality will require extensive knowledge of server config files to use legacy login to a members area or considerable back end scripting knowledge to generate a database driven member access system like that in wordpress. Neither of those types of person are the target audience for this product.

And even when activating the pro account there is absolutely no commercial or legal information about this vendor at all, the domain is only registered for a year as is the Domain Validation SSL certificate. They don't even use Organisation Valdating SSL certificate let alone an EV SSL certificate. It would be VERY unwise to purchass anything from this vendor with zero identity information. IF you must pay use a payment method you can raise a dispute with like Paypal. DO not use credit or debit cards or bank or wire transfers.

I could never use this type of product for anything serious since the entire future of the website is completly dependant upon this web application remaining accessible forever and in the real world companies do not last forever ... they'd need to provide the backend scripts so I could create my own local copy of the web application on my own in-house server.

Also I see on their website on their pricing plans there is no mention of plan duration or what the limitation is on non-corporate plans.... it cannot be the user numbers because that is limited to 3 users on the corporate plan not "Not Limited Functionality".

Also because they have to maintain the server for customer access there is a ongoing cost to providing this software as a service which means either these are lifetime plans and the service will eventually go under unless they have a continual flow of paying customers becuse as soon as purchasses drop below the charge of the servers and sallaries it will be wound up and the service will cease. Or they will get the required continuous stream of purchasses and the user numbers will increase beyond the current server capacity and the service will become difficult and unresponsive to use. Or it is a subscription based service which is the only sensible pricing model for a web application hosted by the vendor.

All that aside I'd like to see added blog and comments section blocks added as well as a locally installable edition similar to InstantWP portable wordpress dev environment for sales samples one can carry around on a laptop for a sales person to be able to show customers even when there is no available internet conenctivity.

Does the full product allow us to save the page as a project not export that we can reload to continue editing later on or keep multiple sites projects in the account so one can work on several sites content and then put them asside to continue work the next day or weeks later as changes need to be made or does one have to recreate the website in order to export a new change to the site.... Found a bug in the demo editor no idea if it exists in the full editor... if one selects the gear icon on the right of any block and selects the source icon to look at the source or see if one can make a copy of it for later use... i.e. "pirate" their generated block source code Peter ;-)
If when viewing the source code of the block one presses the left hand top icons to switch preview screen size icons from desktop to phone or tablet the display frame resizes andpooft the source and controls vanish as well as any content in the editor and there is no way to get back to editing the existing projects content and the only way to reset the editior is to F5 refresh the page and lose any unsaved changes.

And another important question does the service provider include a non-disclosure agreement as some corporate entities might want the created site to only be used within their corporate LAN and never published on the internet as it may contain company secrets or commercially sensitive information that must not be divulged to any unathorised 3rd party. There are no terms of service, privacy policy or details about the company at all! And the domain name whois data is WhoisGuard protected so their corporate entity is top secret for some reason!

Pretty nice giveaway, thanks. I suspect improvements will come such as a "how to" help file and FAQ. BTW was the draftler homepage created with draftler? How did you do that parallax effect? Is that code in one of the header blocks? If so, perhaps the blocks can be titled with more info, such as "corporate header 1 with parallax" etc. Also it seems to autosave my work but I see no indication of the save operation. I'd like a button to save the page, or at least something that shows "page updated, page saved" or a button that gets grayed out when the page is saved. Anyway, a great start here, I'll spread the word.

How do you use this program to update your existing website?

I see no "import ___ web files" or "edit files at web address ___" features.

Oh well.

Interesting concept.

Not fully fleshed out as we cannot even access a profile page, there is only the login, the activation popup (only appears once to fill in the code) and the logout.

No hint of a help file while working on a project.

I will have to test further.

It says this is a 4K file. Is it really that small, or is this just the downloader that installs the program from another server ?

Reply   |   Comment by BobbyA  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-19)

BobbyA, yes. It's just a .txt file that gives you information about the online software.

rww, yeah but no one reads that stuff, they just want the software.

Joel, well but then it's nobody else fault for being left in the dark except the one looking into the mirror. There is no excuse for being lazy. There may be new users to GOTD, that don't quite know how things work, that's a different story, so i'd assume that is the case here.

Reply   |   Comment by senzai6293  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+6)

senzai6293, Yeah! Great insight, except for being wrong...
I've been on GAOTD for many years, just for some reason missed that it was a hosted app.

Reply   |   Comment by BobbyA  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-2)

BobbyA, no it's not a 4K file it's a 473 byte zip file containing a 669 byte readme.txt file with the URLs required to participate in the mysterious vendors giveaway.

Reply   |   Comment by TK  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

senzai6293, if this was a first time giveaway user then why would he expect to have a setup file IN the zip since he'd not have grown used to that ... I suspect it was just a lazy user that does everthing he can to avoid reading existing supplied text and just wants personalised attention from us all.

Joel, hmm why do you think it did not like your chosen username? bad characters or spaces or a potentially exisitng username collision that the script did not trap?

I didn't have any of the problems mentioned in other comments. Download was a text file inside of a compressed zipped folder which I extracted to a new folder and read. It contained simple instructions which I followed and I easily registered and gave the drag and drop editor a try. I did not find it all that impressive thus far. I must admit I gave it only a preliminary going over. They do not host the sites you build. I do not see any functionality beyond what you would get with a free account with WordPress which host your site free and only charges minimal amounts of money for plugins.

What makes this better than WordPress, blogger, Wix, Weebly and others?

Shane Cory Potter, well, it's a block-based drafter, you either live with what they offer you or you'll have to spend BIG time changing the export to what you would like. All you mentioned are much more customizable and not that restrictive, if you are fine with the layouts they give you, Draftler may be what you are looking for but not for me personally.

Reply   |   Comment by senzai6293  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+4)

senzai6293, I am not at all likely to use Draftler Premium. From what I can see it's way to limited and lacks functionality.

Looks like this is a lifetime license. I was very disappointed by DRAFTLER.
Maybe its name indicated it: this is an online platform to create simple drafts.
It is not flexible at all and works as pre-designed blocks.
As far as I know, there is no option to add text boxes, or columns, images, etc. We have to use their layout.
When clicking on the links, it gets me nowhere. I have to go to the left-handed pop-up panel and scroll to find the second page I built and work on it.
It is also very easy to lose the work done on the template, which is frustrating because< as far as I can tell, there is no back button to undo changes.
I would not buy this. It's too simple and not really usable. Sorry :(

s, completely agree, it's too simple and restrictive at the same time. I wanted to create a video slideshow but guess what, you can't even put a simple video. I chuckled at the lack of possibilities and then i asked myself, who on this earth would actually pay $49 for this. Just nope.

PREMIUM PLAN: "Premium Functionality"
CORPORATE PLAN: "Not Limited Functionality"

I can find nothing on the site that explains the difference.

Reply   |   Comment by JMSB  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+24)

JMSB,
I became aware of this program about a week ago. I had the same question. I sent them an email about it on Oct. 13. Still no answer. Not a good sign, is it?

Reply   |   Comment by JK  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+18)

JMSB, Premium is for a single user only.
The Corporate plan allows for up to three different logins/users to create/edit using the one account.
So it 'says' on their website.

Reply   |   Comment by Thor  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+9)

Thor,

Um. No. It does not say.

The user limitation is specified on both sides.

A line item of Premium Functionality vs Not Limited Functionality in a list such as this suggests there are other features that are not included in the premium plan that are not listed on either side.

Reply   |   Comment by JMSB  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

JMSB, You're absolutely right.
There is no distinction between "Premium Functionality" vs "Not Limited Functionality" mentioned at all.

I assumed it's due to poor English (what sort of English is "Not Limited Functionality"?) or perhaps, in the case of the Corporate plan allowing for three users, all users have the same functionality as each other?

It would be best if someone from DRAFTLER would address this.

Reply   |   Comment by Thor  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+5)

JMSB, yeah, it's kinda confusing, from just reading it, it looks like Corporate has something more that Premium doesn't have but i'm not in a position to pay for Corporate only to see a difference, it will probably remain a mystery, since i don't expect getting a official and definitive answer on this during the giveaway period..

I registered for this service, but many options missing:
- no CSS editor in project
- no visual editor for background color of block
- no global options for project (fonts, container width, fluid or not etc.)
- footer links color edit only per links...
This service made for only beginners, but need many works after export.

Mykee, if you want more, you can export and edit after. For basic websites is sufficient this app.

Tried it in both chrome and Firefox. When you add a new project, it just shows an animation of two curly brackets and nothing further happens. There is also no place I can find to enter the license key.

I will pass on today's giveaway

Reply   |   Comment by Greg  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+23)

I just underline Greg´s question. It should be clear if this is a time-limited or "lifetime" offer. And if time-limited, for which time. In GOTD description, this influences my decision if to install some sw or not.
Another note (general one) - sometime there are interesting price offers for "normal" version connected with the giveaway. It would be great to have these offers valid for a longer time, just to have a week or two for real-life testing of the sw before decision...
