I had the previous version offered a while ago on GAOTD. In preparation for installing this newer version I uninstalled the previous version through the software during installation.

Install went well flawlessly and all the features of the previous version are still available in this newer version.

The only problem I have is that there is no way to enter the license key. All features are present and working but there is no menu item for registration. The "About" lists all program information giving no clue as to whether the software is registered or is not registered.

Has anyone else encountered this?

I installed it but I do not see the following: 'Unlock full version' in the bottom left corner and register the software using the registration info below.

There is nothing in the bottom left corner for me to click on and therefore no way to enter the registration code.

Downloaded and installed with no issues. Activation code went in OK.
Issue 1: It installed on my C drive with no option to change the location. Since I use a small SSD as a boot drive I don't install anything on the primary drive.
Issue 2: After testing the delete of a file and a folder it created a folder name "DoYourData....". The only way I could make that folder name disappear was to remove the thumb drive and reinsert it. If I had used an internal hard drive how would I have removed that folder? I do have hidden file parameters on as part of my backup job... "attrib -h -r -s H:*.* /s /d"

VicS,

I downloaded, installed, and activated the program on my cloud drive which I have mapped as a folder on my C: drive. It didn't seem to have any issues whatsoever running. In fact, I utilized the Application Uninstaller function of the program to actually uninstall itself which it did except for leaving the folder as described. However, I then deleted the folder and emptied the recycle bin and it was gone. Hope this helps.

Activation is not working. After entering (cut and paste) the registration code, the "activate button" is greyed out. No way to activate.

Paul, Maybe you inadvertently used the Mac code rather than the Windows code (or vice versa) like I did.

Buckley, Thank you for reminding me about the code.
It turned out the problem was the last character was wrong when I did the copy and past of the code from the readme file. I changed the last character from K to 7, then activation went fine.

I have purchased/used this program in the past and it is very good. It appears to have a different interface, but is an outstanding giveaway.
Installed with no problem.

I assume that this programme is not applicable for Solid State Drives?

Paul S,
It supports data erasure on SSD.

DoYourData, So will it make a difference to my SSD, as I was previously told that SSDs don't need cleaning and erasing like this? Please can you confirm?

Traditional erasing overwrites the data on a conventional hard disk, making multiple passes because the write heads wobble a tiny bit. That of course doesn't apply to an SSD since there are no write heads, but they still can be cleared or erased. Erasing or clearing data is a safeguard before selling or giving or throwing away a used conventional, SSD, or USB drive or memory card.

SSDs tend to use over-provisioning, which practically speaking means that you cannot access every block of storage to make sure it's cleared. An SSD can however send a voltage spike to each block of storage resetting it to its initial [out of the box] state. Some manufacturers offer their own tools for download, & you can use 3rd party tools like DoYourData Super Eraser. The problem is that because not every block is easily accessible, you can't verify it worked -- when tested several years ago on different brands & models of SSD, it did not always work. That doesn't mean another user could access that remaining data, but an electronic tech might. Many companies use a disk shredding service to physically destroy discarded drives. Note that some tools require the SSD to be disconnected from the PC/laptop & then reattached, &/or booting to a USB stick.
