'Dimo MXF Converter gives you a perfect solution to convert Canon, Sony, Panasonic, JVC, Blackmagic, RED, Ikegami MXF files to more compatible and editable formats without losing original quality.'
'MXF stands for Material Exchange Format. It is an open file format, similar to OMF, which allows for the interchange of audiovisual material with associated data and metadata.'
'MXF files were designed to streamline workflows between different platforms, such as cameras, digital editing equipment, and servers. The file format adopts a subset of the Advanced Authoring Format (AAF), which was designed to help standardize the interchange of video between multiple vendors and platforms.'

fran, Most camera makers (an archaic breed themselves) include software which allows you to save images and videos in more standardized formats. But maybe for the 3 or 4 people on the planet who still mess with MXF, this could be useful.

fran,
"MXF stands for Material Exchange Format."
The important take-away is that MXF is just a container format, like AVI, MOV etc. Audio & video streams can be copied into or out of MXF containers without re-encoding, for situations where you need MXF or something else for compatibility, e.g. not all video related software will work with MXF files. Ffmpeg, which is the code at the core of many of these converters, has handled MXF since 2009, so the capability to import these files into a converter isn't really rare -- in this case, by focusing on the MXF format, Dimo Studio can sell a lower priced, albeit more limited app compared to their flagship product.
So Dimo MXF Converter is best suited to those who have this sort of video from their camera, & want to convert it to another size &/or bit rate, same as you'd use most any video converter. If OTOH you don't necessarily want to convert the video, but just turn it into something whatever software will work with, you're better off using something that will copy the audio & video intact, so you don't suffer the quality loss that always comes with re-encoding.
