None of my videos is accepted for conversion because they are not HD ! I don't need so specific a program and I shall uninstall accordingly.

Hey guys, these programs are given FREELY, no-ones pressuring you to take them...
if you don't like 'em don't use 'em.... simples!

Mr mr,

I'm sure everyone gets your point ... but these things are given away, literally twice a week...
most are the same re-branded junk that any free converter can do...so that's like more than a hundred a year...
if you have been coming to this site for any decent length of time, you'd notice that unique, innovative and actual helpful programs are showing up less and less often...lately, most of the time it's converters, file recovery junk or rental ware garbage...I mean...can someone explain why people need these things...my TV plays just about anything from a usb drive without converting it...if not ...streaming services are everywhere...
and if you're converting it to watch on a smart phone...well...that is just stupid...
won't even list the free stuff out there...
as well as the fact the wonderful Moderators...rarely show my comments anyway.

Well...
Not much point in downloading ANYTHING from Dimo - I just checked the software i downloaded (Dimo Monstune 4.0) from GAOTD on March 31st 2018 (not even a month ago) and the license has already been banned. This has been an ongoing situation with Dimo with their GAOTD "giveaways" ...you get the code and shortly after, you go to use the software and find that the code has been banned. The code only seems to work for about a month - then it gets banned (or - in their words - BANNED)never even used the software one time. Other people have reported the same thing.
Why do you keep doing this Dimo ?? Please respond..

"World's NO.1 Fast HD Video Converter" it says. Hardly. I tried to convert a video using this software and another video converter I usually use and it was VERY slow, especially since it does not support hardware acceleration.
Also on it's website it lists the price as $29.95, not $49.95.
I had previously gotten a giveaway of 2 of their other products, Videomate and Monstune. After a few months when trying to use them a message popped up saying 'Serial banned!!' and they no longer worked. Don't know why.
All that being said, it's free (while it works) of course.

What a shame this program !!!

Tried to import a 720p video file and

'Can NOT import the following file(s)'.

'NOTE: HD Converter can ONLY import HD file(s)'.

¿Who would pay for a program so limited and especific?

I deleted it quickly. I don't want it in my PC.

zafufu, weird 720p is classed as HD video and 1080p is FHD and 2160p is UHD.... are you sure the alleged 720p video truly has a vertical resolution of 720 pixels many downloaded videos claiming to be 720 do not always exactly fit the dimensions of the 720p specification. You can always use the always free handbrake or xmedia recode and you won't be constrained to unreasonalbe input format demands.

The ReadMe says; "Follow the link below to request a free key. Click the green "Get it Now" button. The license key will be displayed on the same page."

There is no green "Get it Now" button.

When you use the slogan "World's NO.1 Fast HD Video Converter" then you had better match the claim.

This product is about as far away from that as you can possibly get.

Firstly I attempted to load up a variety of 720p MP4 files, none of which it would allow to be imported, citing that it can only import HD formats, so epic fail to start with.

When I did manage to find a file that it could import, the range of settings available for each format was severely limited and you are left to choose a very limited amount from drop down menus.

Then we come to the speed, which is far closer to the tortoise than the hare.

So then onto the downloader, where I tried a few Youtube videos, none of which would show any output and more would simply show error.

I didn't bother testing the Media Server because at this point the program is so poor that it doesn't inspire any more time wasting.

If I was the dev I would be acutely embarrassed right now.

Does "wirelessly" mean it will stream to a chromecast device? if so will be very useful

Reply   |   Comment by Steve  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

Steve, NO they mean they bundle a dumb web server module to share html indexes of folders that can be just raw media files that if you have wi-fi can be served over your wi-fi but it CANNOT CAST ANY MEDIA TO ANY RENDERER via any recognised *casting system. You have to have a media player on the "recieving end" that can make the http request and make sense of a dumb web servers output which most SMART TV web browsers cannot so is practically useless. You are better off setting up a free instance of servio and creating a comprehensive DLNA media server to stream your media content over your LAN.

Steve,

Quoted from their own website (using link in info box above):

"Wirelessly Share Videos for Flawless Playback Experience

After conversion, you can get the latest videos to your PC and share them onto portable gadgets in the same network for smooth playback using the free media server plugin. You may choose to scan the resulted QR code on your iPhone, iPad, Samsung, Nexus, Sony and many other digital devices. Or simply input the url to the address bar of web browser to enhance your video experience on big TVs."

I have not yet personally tried it myself, though.

Which version of Windows? Usually when you get a warning it's a false positive.

Reply   |   Comment by shegeek72  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

David Wellman, you obviously are into marketing speak... giveawayoftheday.com DO NOT PROMISE THAT all programs offered as part of the project are SAFE, just that they are FREE OF ANY KNOWN MALWARE... the safety of any individual program is down to the contributing developers intentions and programming competence and wisdom which giveawayoftheday.com have zero control over. Also some programs are inherrently UNSAFE like driver updaters and software updaters and registry and filesystem cleaners and system optimisers, even if they are programmed correctly to name but a few. Video converters can cause harm to a system if they register their codecs with the system and alter the pre-exisitng codec encoding/decoding priorities or register older versions than what were already registered on the system reducing stability and performance choices that may have been made prior to installing said software. To name but a few ways programs offered CAN BE UNSAFE.

Also some giveaways are barely tested products with bugs because we may be used as a ready pool of unpaid alpha/beta testers too and that is not a role for the inexperienced computer user as often such programs ARE UNSAFE by definition and can require system recovery using system restore or a backup system to regain a stable system!

riccipottan, I don't know about the beginning, but I've been here for years. But those who can't make them work, think it's always some virus infection. All you need is one spurious report for any reason and the panic button gets pressed. If you want something instructive folks, actually go to your A-V provider's website next time you get a virus report and check out their entry for that virus, if they even have one for you to inspect. Then you can marvel at all of the blank entries with no info. about what it is, what it does, why it's bad, etc., etc.... Most hits are either from spurious reports from users or from heuristics. Heuristics are good idea: they don't hit on virus reports, they are the next line of defense, they watch for suspicious behaviour but generate TONS of false positives. But one persons suspicious behaviour is not anothers. It's like your forgetting your keys and breaking into your own house. To an observer, you look like a thief. GOTD uses a wrapper that prevents the key from being hacked so it can only be used on the day it's given away. But anything that prevents any program, including your AV, from borrowing into it will ALWAYS set off heuristics. "It's not your house, you're a burgler!"

Can't be helped. But, if you can't find an explanation of what a hit is, it's probably a false positive. In any case, it's just a pain sometimes, because, if you're appropriately cautious, there's much software you'll never be able to use because it will always give off a hit. And all GOTDs will because of their anti-hack wrapper. No good answer. But don't believe rumors either.
