Never got the email to register it in my spam or inbox. Extremely disappointing as I have waited so long for a giveaway like this, and love all of Franzis' software I already use. I usually have good experiences here at GOTD but every now and then I miss out like this despite following every last instruction!

Haven't received the email with the registration after several attempts (and checking both agreement boxes); there's only 1 more hour before the offer expires; I hope it's not another lost opportunity to get software because the signup scripts don't work.

The only link which worked for the download was the one 'bubble' indicating the price. All the others send you to blurbs on the other software you don't want nor asked for.

All I get when I click the "Internet" button is, " Firefox is already running, but not responding. The old Firefox process must be closed to open a new window." Two buttons in the box give me the option to "Close Firefox" or "Cancel". I can't get to the registration page!

Wow, I have downloaded and installed dozens of different software programs from GAOTD without a glitch.... until now. After jumping through way too many hoops I copy and paste the User ID and Registration Codes from the email into the software only to get repeat error messages.

Hats Off to Franzis Verlag for creating a superb program! Unlike other similar programs that just remove the background, there is so much more you can do in this program--both, before and after marking the foreground and background

-- You can resize the selected foreground image.
-- You can make the background blurred (I loved this effect!)
-- Of course, you can totally remove the background and make it transparent.
--Plus, there are lots of effects -- like you could make the foreground semi-transparent

And there are so many more things you can do with this program. For example, the you can adjust the color or the contrast of the image, which then makes it easier to select the foreground item.

I've just played with it for a few minutes, but I'm sure I will find a lot more things that this program can do, as I continue using it for some more time!

I'm very happy to have this program -- it's exactly what I need! I've always been satisfied with Franzis programs in the past. Thanks so much!
P.S. Registration was a breeze!

Having given this a quick go, and not having delved into the more advanced features, the results I got were quite promising. Obviously if you're working with something like Photoshop, where such capabilities are built in, you may not find it as useful, but for those of us using less capable photo editing software this is definitely one worth checking out.

I don't want to give out my personal info for a free program. I will give an email address, but everything else is unnecessary and not needed for a GOTD program. So no thank you.

Carol Baudat, You can register just with an email address; the other information is not mandatory!

Reply   |   Comment by PaulF  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+14)

PaulF, There are 2 checkboxes that are required before you can proceed. One is approval for them to store personal data and the other is to receive advertising. You cannot proceed without checking the boxes, which appear to be optional, but aren't.

PaulF, recently when I've tried with email, it doesn't send me the link. And YES I check my spam folder everytime.

When looking at their home page, they have examples of before/after photos - if you move that slider
on the first page (woman in some yoga pose), how come there are more hair strands
visible on "after" photo then on the "before" photo?
Even her right hand wrist is bigger on after photo... Is it the app that's adding random parts to the final image?

How is this compared to Inpaint or PhotoScissors which I use for the most?

Reply   |   Comment by Kjell  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

Kjell, I have used Cutout from previous giveaway (also version 5 from two years ago!) and I am not at all impressed with Cutout. Those two that you mention are simpler (less peripheral functionality) but are far superior in the core function of of removing background/cutting out images are areas. I found Cutout very finicky and the resuts singularly unimpressive.
Although I really like the TeoreX applications a great deal, I also want to give a shout-out to (cross-fingers) M-soft, because PowerPoint's cutting-out function is by far the best, in my experiemce, both simpler/quicker, and great resulst. It is in fact, my go-to place for snipping out images (then select and save as gif or jpg.
Apart from its annoyingly complicated toolbox, Franzis Cutout has a dreadful interface for peopl who ether prefer pale GUII or or vision-impaired, with its gloomy black ambience and dropped-out spindly sans typography. Not the mention the dimming of elements mentioned in another comment.
One further grumble: I absolutely hate it when a vendor forces an unexpected call on another application on a user, in this case, clicking the Help button opens the pdf reader without any warning/confirmation prompt. Grr. When will vendors/developers learn that users hate this kind of thing?

Where do I access the license information/details for this download?

Reply   |   Comment by EBeaR  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-3)

EBeaR, in order to get the program they want all your info and NOT just an email...but here is the info they gave.

Installation

Unzip the package you`ve downloaded to a separate folder and run Setup_Win.exe or
Setup_Mac.app which is included in the package to start the software installation.

Run the installer, click "Internet" button and get re-directed to the online page.
Fill in your email first and then your password for Franzis account if you already have one
or you'll be required to create one. Click the blue button "Request registration code".

After this, you'll receive your USER-ID and personal registration code to your registered email address.

EBeaR,

As usual, click on the readme file and follow the instructions. It takes a couple of minutes but it's easy enough.

Carol Baudat, Hi. I did read the readme file. I ran the installer and clicked "internet" but it did nothing. I can't get past this in order to proceed. Any advice? Going directly to the Franzis website is of no use as it's in a foreign language.

Trying this out, one thing stands out as an immediate request: please stop darkening the program when I switch to another program. I'm running this alongside your tutorial, and when I switch to the browser, I can't see what it is explaining! "cool, but silly"

Reply   |   Comment by AR  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+29)

OK, so I've tried it, it is really good! had a head picture with hair strands, defined the two "inside/outside" borders, pushed a button and voila! just the face and good hair selection.
Keeper, might even upgrade!

This program is certainly worth a try if you are looking for such but the price is surely not worth ,the program is not as easy to use as they try to explain and not always delivers the expected results it also has its fair share of problems ( not stable ) , this is an old version i have been using for sometime , with plenty luck the newer version could be better , inside /outside matting takes some getting used to .

I actually bought Cutout 5 Pro back in 2016 and found it quite useful. Looking at the comparison chart the Standard version doesn't seem to be missing anything all that important, so IMHO well worth the download. However they are up to version 8 now, so this is further back than they usually go...
