Every day we offer FREE licensed software you’d have to buy otherwise.
COVERT Pro 3.0.33.28 was available as a giveaway on January 9, 2018!
COVERT Pro - an innovative solution to ensure total privacy while working at the computer. It protects against spyware and has instant messenger with encryption. When working in secure platform, all user’s actions in all applications (browsers, email clients, office software, messengers, etc.) are safely hidden. Capturing data from keyboard input and monitor screen is blocked. Using special features of COVERT Pro (Network monitor, Driver monitor, System processes, System services) allows you to detect and remove all hidden applications. COVERT Pro allows you to block the microphone.
To protect against spyware, COVERT Pro uses the masking method. It is the most reliable method against spyware — masking action of user. It means creation of secure platform, inside which user can run any applications, while remaining invisible to the spies.
Built-in secure messenger allows you to communicate confidentially:
This version of COVERT Pro has user interface in seven languages: English, German, Italian, Czech, Russian, Ukrainian and Polish.
COVERT Pro increases the security level of your PC and provides confidential work and correspondence. Compatible with antivirus.
Windows; Minimum screen resolution of 800×600; Pentium processor or higher; 128 Mb RAM; 90 Mb of free disk space
17.5 MB
$42.00
COVERT Pro USB has the same functionality as the COVERT Pro, but installs on a flash drive and can protect user’s work on any Windows PC. You can connect this USB flash drive to unlimited number of PCs. COVERT Pro USB allows you to send and receive encrypted messages everywhere. After inserting this USB flash drive in any PC and choosing “secure messenger” feature, you will get all the messages that have been sent to you by other messenger’s users.
Downloaded and installed program. Showed that it was registered. This am when checking it, showed unregistered. No idea why but it is frustrating

Glenn, I wouldn't worry if I were you! Just read all the negative comments on this "dangerous" -- or at least slightly suspect -- programme, and you will probably quickly decide to try to uninstall it. Although of course that is up to you.
But if you do want to do so, you are unlikely to find Revo much help. However, I was able to uninstall it almost a day later, using Wise Programme Uninstaller (free -- see my comment below).
I have no commercial interest in Wise, just bloody glad I could find SOME programme to uninstall this problematic give-away.
So, it's a keeper. The Wise one, I mean.

Tranmontane,
Unfortunately, in my case, Wise Uninstaller did not find/recognize this pesky program on my other computer either. So, I had to hunt down manually all the entries left by it (=Covert) in my registry.

Is this program compatible with SPYSHELTER?
Save | Cancel
So the main 'platform' is basically just a virtual machine, is that right? It's virtual, and you program the apps (1-12), and those are the programs that are allowed access through the virtual platform. Is that right?
Any opinions on how well this program works in that respect? (Is it very 'virtual-y' (Secure))?

Give this program whitelist capabilities. It is stopping one of my favorite download program from running because it didn't recognize it, so I have to uninstall yours, Thanks for letting me try it so I could see any issues it created. Other than that conflict, I liked it.

D B,
It was necessary to add your program to the Covert Pro allowed database. So all the security programs work.
Save | Cancel
I do not like this program, and here it is why:
1-it has non ituitive, messy interface,
2-the program hides itself from being found by windows Programs and Features or third party uninstallers ( REVO in my case),
3-unlike 99.99999% programs, it doesn't have an uninstall file within its program folder,
4-you need to use the setup file to uninstall the program, which is rather unwieldy, especially if you happen like most of us do, to delete the GOTD's setup file,
5-on top of all that, it will not uninstall cleanly: one has to hunt down all the junk it leaves on your computer, which I find quite frustrating.
Add to this the fact that I happened to find a suspicious entry in some audio function in the registry, where it has no reason to be, except-maybe to sneakily hide itself.
For these reasons I am going to stay away from this program in the future.

Excellent give away! Love the ability to see network monitor, processes, services, dlls and drivers with details and some rating indicator (database, etc.).
The Covert application wrapper and the encrypted messenger have their value.
Built-in help (F1) and youtube videos available.

If this is installed on a flash drive, then am I correct in believing that nothing will install on the computer hard drive? Thus if one forgets how to uninstall it, would I be correct in guessing this could this then be removed from the flash drive by reformatting it?
Save | Cancel
HisSon,
Haven't had a chance to monitor the installation of COVERT Pro yet, but odds are that like most software, the stuff it adds is not confined to the program's folder -- there would be no need or reason to have a separate portable version, COVERT Pro USB, if that were the case. You could achieve the same thing installing normally, then just deleting the program's folder from your hard drive.
Save | Cancel
HisSon,
The program can be installed either on a computer or on a flash drive. To uninstall the program, just run the installer and click the Uninstall button.

Covert Pro, if you can install this on a usb drive why Covert pro usb twice as expensive ?

Loaded fine and updated pervious version. A really nice program for internet privacy. Not hard to uninstall. You will not find Convert Pro listed in your add/remove program. SAVE your setup application. When you run it again, you will see a box to uninstall the program. Click it and uninstall. I saved my setup application in the file location in a new folder named "Delete using setup". I do not have a reason to uninstall it...It works great!...But I always want a way to uninstall any program.

OK, 23 comments on the installation experience, but how well does this program work ? And what type of invisible/camouflaged/peeping Tom registry tid bits does this program leave behind. Often the very programs advertised to protect you are the ones you need to look out for...........

Installed OK. Now what? The online site sates "you need to install it on your computer and run the file Protection.exe". Huh? Where do I find Protection.exe? Thanks

Phillip Lipton - unfortunately, that is normal here - 80 to 90% of the comments are about installation problems!

The file Protection.exe is located in the program folder.
By default, the program is installed

I do not know about your level of safety, but I will not send messages to an unknown server on an unknown location with proprietary communication software and channel. It sounds exiting, but there are lots of red flags, like: "It is impossible to hack the server if you do not know where it is." and "Your address is serial number of Covert Pro" and "Using special features of COVERT Pro" and so on. Bragging and telling that they impersonate my computer address with theirs can be double dangerous thing.
Furthermore, they manipulate your network setups and this software inserts lots of hidden registry keys, therefore be your own judge when installing it.
Save | Cancel
Tester,
Those 12 keys are the ones you can see, I found 126 hidden keys after uninstalling it with the geek pro uninstaller.
Setter is absolutely right, this software can be very dangerous for some people who think all is fine.
There is no such thing 100% safe browsing, there are many weak points when surfing the net and this software can not protect you from it.

There is no explanation about how to use it, its not intuitive.........so what does it do on its own? or do I need to scroll through the cryptic lists of hieroglyphs to figure it out....you haven't provided the rosetta stone to figure it out...........also, in this modern age, people want automated processes. the days of black screen geeks is over.in the future with robots and artificial intelligence, we leave the decision making up to the programmers, and how useful a software is depends on how good the automated programming is.............I turned the program on; and it doesn't speak to me. should I remove it? haven't a clue!!

Covert Pro, Bit late now, isn't it? We have to get halfway through the day to find out how to operate it?
I, too, found it unnecessarily complicated, totally non-intuitive -- and just a mess, in my view. I never understood what it was going to do, the last time I had this programme, and although I thought the developer might have "improved" the interface, and the lack of intuitiveness, they haven't!
You can't readily tell what you have to do, nor what it will do, so I won't waste any more time on it. Except that it seems, as Revo Uninstaller cannot find it, nor can I apparently use Revo's "Hunter mode", with a constantly-repeating error message telling me to close the relevant files -- which won't close -- I'll just have to reboot my laptop in order to REMOVE the whole programme.
And that is certainly NOT user-friendly....

Installed just fine (sort of) on my Win 8.1 X64 computers, BUT:
1. It does NOT produce a desktop shortcut icon, even though I selected that option during the installation.
2. The opening screen (once you go to Programs (X86) and create a desktop shortcut) is NOT resizeable! That's a "tsk-tsk" in my book. 99% of Windows apps are all resizeable, but not this one? Shame on you!
Save | Cancel
kkanalz,
1. If it is specified at installation to install a shortcut on the desktop, the program always installs it.
2. The main menu of the program can be increased to the required size - it is resizeable.

kkanalz,
Hi, see if You like this free tiny app, I used it on desktop on quite a few 'none-resizable' windows in the past and it worked in most cases, not sure how actual Programs such as today's Giveaway (once resized) might function, You'll find it here: http://www.digitallis.co.uk/pc/ResizeEnable/index.html

Bern,
THANKS a lot, Bern.
WORKS!
Save | Cancel
Bern, I had the same problem... and every time I hit "uninstall" (because there is nothing discoverable in Windows -- only in DOS!) it says, "Close the files from the program folder, and repeat the removal" -- and even though nothing appears to be open -- it WILL NOT uninstall itself.
I recall now that the last time this was offered I had all sorts of problems with it -- and finally just gave up and DID uninstall it -- eventually. This programme MAY be "good" -- for some. But in my personal experience, it is nothing but bad news.... Sorry.
Save | Cancel
Bern, Sounds like good advice. Means you have to keep a copy of the installer program so I need to remember to keep these GAOTD files. I usually delete them as most are useless after 24hrs. I find it odd that it is not listed in REVO or windows uninstaller as an installed program. I didn't know you could install a program with registry entries without it showing up. Although see that REVO will hunt it out in hunter mode and probably destroy it; not that I did so as I want to keep it for now.
Save | Cancel
Bern,
I noticed the uninstall option as I tried this offering out. So I must save this file in case I ever feel the need to remove the program? Why not include an uninstall routine like any normal program would?
For me I will save myself the time and effort and uninstall it right now. I appreciate the offer but I think this program could use a bit more polish and preparation to improve itself and become easier for the average user. If one needs to spend time watching videos just to understand the basics of the program, then it needs help.

D Murphy, I tried Revo's Hunter mode, but for some reason it did not work. However, a few hours later, I came across the free Wise Program Uninstaller -- so I used that. It worked!
It got rid of everything except the ikon on the desktop -- and that was quickly deleted, after establishing that it now did indeed lead nowhere!

Been using this for a long time, since I have an earlier version from a ga site. It is extremely easy to run and apply. It is also low on processor and memory resources, in itself. Obviously, what applications you choose to run from within it will affect resource depletion.
I do sometimes have a pang of uncertainty about its utility. You can, for instance, twiddle out of it, open a task manager, and fiddle around with processes from "outside", so to speak.
Just a note, too: several times recently whilst browsing within Covert, I have picked up coinhive mining-ware, which my main av sophos has fortunately intercepted.
Thanks to gotd and the developers at Covert for today's offering.

The second digit is the device type.
The third - build.
Fourth - version number.

Covert Pro, exactly so the 38 build number is higher, meaning Marcus' version is newer than the one you have offered today.
Save | Cancel
Marcus,
Actually, your sub-version is higher than the GOTD version as yours is 3.0.38.x, while theirs is 3.0.33.x (i.e. version 3.0 sub-version 38 vs sub-version 33). The last part of the version number is not needed in this case.

Giveaway of the Day,
This information is quite useful but should it not have been included in the offering details? As such info should always be included and not require users to ask.
This is not intended to be a snide comment, but rather as a suggestion for future offerings as this is a commonly asked question with many GOTD offerings.

After downloading Covert Pro I tried to set the installation to be on a plug-in USB (actually already attached) but it does not seem to let me do this and asks me to install to a hard drive. I thought that the USB version was available as part of the GOTD...isn't that the case ????
Save | Cancel
ericn2,
The best way to do that is to buy the portable version to support the developer. There are however situations when you have to install software to removable storage, e.g. my win10 tablets only have 32GB available, & Windows uses a big chunk of that, & I solve that problem by creating a VHD [Virtual Hard Disk] on the inserted microSD card -- once mounted Windows sees that VHD drive like a regular, non-removable hard drive.

Does it hide users ip address? That is, eliminate the need for a VPN?
Save | Cancel
Rawbl,
From a program that puts all emphasis on privacy, security and confidentiality, one would expect a VPN service included. But it doesn't mention it, so we have to assume it’s not included.
Besides, good VPN services (as opposed to inferior free ones) are on subscription, and you don’t get them with a single payment. So it would be asking too much.

Rawbl, no. I always use mine alongside a vpn (windscribe in my case).

TK,
"...protect your activity from spyware running on your machine by providing a layer of isolation..."
"Whether it works or not, most everyone is not qualified or equiped to tell..."
A quick Google didn't find much on COVERT Pro other than a couple users confirmed it blocked Zemana keylogger. I think you're correct TK, that to determine any weaknesses you'd have to go beyond that, using methods &/or malware most people don't have access to. I would think you'd get better isolation using a VM, but being pragmatic, those who don't follow best or safest practices & have their systems compromised *because of that*, would probably wind up with an infected VM as well. For those folks *I think* COVERT Pro might be better, even if it only blocked some malware or PUPs.

WOW a little bit overwhelming when you first start this app ... but I soon got the hang of it and have decided that this has some potential, I didn't find any baddies on my machine, but I would have been surprised if I did. Overall a very useful security app.
the only con so far is its a bit too much green ... if you install and run this you will see what I mean, I suggest a method to change colours in the next release might be a good thing to add.
All in all a great app and thanks for the freebie !!
