I've been using this since I got it in a giveaway over a year ago (My thought is it was early 2012 that I got it) and find it extremely useful. Prior to seeing this giveaway of the day I had never used a clipboard manager, thought had imagined the idea of a clipboard history being very useful.

I use this virtually every single day; sometimes with something as simple as a caption and a link where I copy both from one page to post on another page on facebook, sometimes it's when I'm editing more complex code for a web page / blog and am moving multiple sections around.

I did purchase a 5 user copy of this software back a few months ago. I tried a couple free clipboard packages and none ran as smoothly for me across multiple applications. I only had the giveaway license installed on one computer, thus purchased the 5 user for my other computer and laptop.

I ran into a fairly minor issue with ClipDiary when copy / pasting in Google Docs and in certain situations the proper text was not copy / pasted. I communicated with the developer about this and there have been updates to clipdiary since and I've not run into the issue again. I do use Google Docs at least for word processing every single day and probably copy and past virtually every day, so I would likely notice if there was an ongoing issue.

I've found the history / search function to be exceptionally useful also, and often use it to look back for a little snipit of text or note that I know I copied.

Overall, I have to say that this was my favorite Giveaway of the Day out of all of them that I've checked out in the past 2 years or so and I at least read the description of them every day.

Hope you find Clipdiary as useful as I do.

Jamie

p.s. one really useful trick, when I write something longer like this on a web page, sometimes something goes wrong when you submit the form and you lose what you wrote, sometime I want to use something like this I wrote again later. I just do a quick ctrl A and ctrl C to copy this and I have it saved and easily accessible at any time.

nice...it makes coping to clipboard a "no-brainer"...only problem was difficulty in activating. I had to run in admin (for both Win7 and 8) and restart pc before trial message went away

I had this for years and loved it!!! I lost it when my old pc died and the older version didn't work with my new Windows 8. This has been something I have hated about Win 8. I have been actually upset ever since, when I needed to use Clipdiary and didn't have it! This is a terrific ap! And I love it's simplicity. I've been using Arsclip as an alternative, but some of it's added functions made it seem more difficult to use & it was always opening the list when I didn't mean for it to. I am thrilled to have Clipdiary back! Thank you so much for making it work with Win8! I just wish I NEVER had to lose it again, ever! This is one of my 4 favorite aps of all time!

#7 ric - great review, thank you.
Ashraf, take notes - this is what a review should contain. And no self-serving links. And ric actually tested it.

I downloaded this last time it was offered and it worked great for me. I lost it when our computers were replaced, so I am glad to see it back again. There may be other programs out t here that are more sophisticated, but I don't necessarily need all the bells and whistles (and I don't have time to test them all), so I am happy to see this one offered again. Thanks a bunch.

to #9 and other people who work under User account.

I have investigated this situation just now. Really if you want to use program from User account - registration does not work property. But there is a solution

1. Install and activate program under User account using administrative privileges.
2. Don't run(better) or close program
3. Now you should login into Administrator account and disable User Account Control (UAC). You can this
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/turn-user-account-control-on-or-off or any other instruction from Google, move the slider to the "Never notify"
4. Restart you PC
5. Login into User account
6. Run Activate.exe again
7. Close and restart Clipdiary, select Help->About Clipdiary - you should see that program is registered now.
8. Repeat 5-7 for all required User accounts
9. Login into Administrator account and restore old value for User Account Control (UAC) setting. You can this
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/turn-user-account-control-on-or-off or any other instruction from Google.
10. Enjoy and become a clipdiary fan on Facebook :)

I have the freeware Clipboard Help+Spell. It's very good, but there might be something better. Can anybody compare it with Clipdiary 3.51?

What are the very best clipboard programs in people' opinions?

Installed fine on XP-PRO-SP3. Had ver 3.4 before which I uninstalled before installing this version, enjoyed using it - a good program to have and use.
BTW, would be great if instruction whether to uninstall a previous version of a program is needed or not before intalling a new version of a Give Away program.

The program itself seems to do what it promises, but some corners may need a little polishing as mentioned above.

This is the first time that I have problems with the registering system as it still seems to be trial-ware with 29 days left, after following the installation-procedure described.
So uninstall may be the next step here, and I can't push it on to my followers as a gift.

Another good one I forgot to mention in my previous comment is also
a FREE & PORTABLE tool called "CopyQ".

This is a very advanced clipboard management app, allowing you to organize clipboard items into different tabs with the ability to edit them (sort, delete and remove items) with ease.

However, what makes this app so special, is the power, given to users, to define CUSTOM COMMANDS for executing actions, such as open a link in the default web browser or ignore certain items into the clipboard history.

The comment from #3 LostOnTheLine raises the most seminal issue I've seen addressed on these GotD pages in a long time. GotD and many, many, developers believe that the only valid account from which to run a PC is an administrator's account. I see this as madness.

I wrote to the developer of Clipdiary the last time about the necessity for administrative execution rights, and, with appropriate snipping, this was his almost correct* reply:

"You have registered Clipdiary under administration account because you
did run Activation program under administration account... am I right?
"If you thinking that Activaton.exe works wrong you should write about
this issue to giveawayoftheday.com not to software vendor. Because I
am not related to this program. [activation]
"You can use this key in order to register Clipdiary from GOATD
"Please, don't distribute it in the internet.
"-snip-"

*He is almost correct because *some* programs from GotD do register for Standard Users (e.g. the similar Spartan). I say it behoves GotD to ensure that ALL programs, registered with administrative rights, RUN under any account.

Mr Developer, could you please post here giving us assurance that you will provide a support address where we can get a Standard User registration key?
Many thanks.

Does the job pretty well... I love its ability to recover the copied text, images and files at a later date or after system reboot.

Can also convert any text to plain text by stripping away its formatting.

So THUMBS UP but for 20$ you must do more man, taking into account that there are many FREEWARE out there which can do the same or even more for FREE (and some of them are also PORTABLE)!

Here a few examples of them besides the ones listed by Ashraf's "assistant" in his article mentioned above...

* (Portable) ClipMon
Terrific FREE clipboard program with a stunning set of features and a magnificient user interface for monitoring and managing all of your items stored in your PC's clipboard.
Unlike this GAOTD, it even allows you to EDIT the content of your clipboard by opening a selected image in one of your external editing graphic programs, as well as send the current or previous clipboard content to a preset mail recipient or custom directory.
And yes, it can also automatically syncronize your copied & pasted data from your PC's clipboard to another one via cloud services (DropBox for instance), another feature missed by this GAOTD Worth 20 bucks.

Here a short explanation on how to do that:
http://www.pa-soft.com/webhelp_clipmon/index.html?handy_tips.htm

Download:
http://www.pa-soft.com/clipmon.html

* Save.Me
Superb FREE and very easy to use PORTABLE clipboard tool which can save and preserve absolutely everything you may copy&paste (text, images, videos, URLs, files, folders, emails etc...) for easy access at a later date.
Just enter a word, an image name or a text snippet, and then this app is able to find the item you were searching for almost immediately. But if you don't remember the exact name of the item to be retrieved, no problem: just click on the “Default” view and voilà every logged clipboard item will be shown in chronological order.
It can tell you if a particular item was an image with a meaningful name or just a block of text, showing you the exact date when it was saved to the clipboard and even the name of the application responsible for that. It also sports a nice "preview window", designed to show you all the text, the entire image or even a web page should the clipboard item be an URL address.
And since everything is saved into the HD of your machine, all your records will be accessible even across reboots, turning this FREE clipboard even into a sort of "information organizer" for research purposes.

* Click.to
Crazy FREE app I recently came accross which makes your copy & paste experience a breeze!!
With this magic FREE tool text, images, videos, and other selected documents can be sent to other programs literally with a single click, even by handling them automatically!!
Actually this tool is much more than a simple clipboard, since it can add text to an e-mail, publish pictures on Facebook or search for a foreign word in Wikipedia literally with a single mouse click.
Just read here to see what it can do for you for FREE ==> Simply AMAZING!!

http://www.clicktoapp.com/en/what-is-click-to

* Clipboard Master
http://www.jumpingbytes.com/en/clipboard-master/features.html

And if you want to HEAR the clipboard texts spoken aloud, then try a magic FREE tool called "Clipboard Pimper".

Enjoy!!!

So 20 BUCKS ???? ==> LOL <== !!!!! ^_^

Thanks to Softvoile + GOTD.
Easily downloaded, installed and activated.

Tested it.
Result: Very Good.

• Straightforward user interface - does not confuse.
• Double click will paste into current window.
• Allows pasting without formatting, if you want that.
• Supports Unicode. Can handle foreign languages.
• Allows rapid search within the clip diary.(see bottom of window)
• Has incremental search feature to auto search after entering certain number of characters.
• Can export to a text file in a folder of your choice.
• Can export all clips to 1 text file or do a batch export of each clip to its own separate file.
• Can do multiple item paste.
• Clip diary can go to several pages.
• You can navigate easily from page to page (see bottom of window)
• You can resize the window (obvious but many software nowadays have fixed unchangeable window size)
• You can choose from 17 languages user interface.
• You can choose to have a sound to play after you have copied something into clip diary.
• You can choose from 8 different sounds.
• It can copy a large amount. Default is 20,000 clips per database. It seems you can increase the number if you want to.

This software is straight froward, well featured and has no ugly surprises.

As Ashraf said, you cannot re-order the clips in the clip diary. But for my requirements, that is not critical.

Pre-the wonderful copy and paste command transferring text from one area to another could be a nightmare. I remember once trying to extract the text from a C language help file, it took weeks to do something that would be done in minutes today.
It's ages since I’ve used a clipboard manager but the ability to search the contents attracted me to today's offering and the ability to view images without having to paste them somewhere a real bonus.
I'm certainly going to keep today's offering because of his image viewing capabilities alone.

Yeah i too have v.3.4 that was given away i think last year, and i have many freeware's for clipping text and i found it to be really useful. It can even paste an image selected by using the Alt+Prsrcn, windows default key for capturing images, with C.D it remains in the history and can be pasted in Win Paint Brush or Irfan View many times over.
However the only drawback is the clipped text stored in the database and can be "accessed by using the (user defined) Hot assigned" , that wouldn't bother anyone if one gets the clip in txt or doc file. Besides that its a solid program and i still use 3.4. Now i think i'll download this.

Only problem, you can't register it for a non-administrator account. It's fine if you like running your computer from an administrator level all the time, but if you value your security or have other users on the machine it's worthless, still says "Evaluation Version: 29 Days Left" unless I run it as an administrator.
Yes, I extracted the folder before running it, Yes I have run the Activation program under every administrator account (There's 3 of them) But it will not run without Admin Credentials.

I've used this since the last time it was given away here Version 3.4 and have always found it incredibly useful. It is much better than windows own Clipboard. I'm really pleased to see the latest version is being given here today.
I would thoroughly recommend everybody to get this whilst they can, believe me you won't regret it!

Pros
*Records all copied or cut data (text, images, files, etc.) as clips and lets you paste individual clips at a later date
*Supports both plain-text and rich-text clips and lets you optionally paste rich-text clips as plain-text
*Works with hotkeys

Cons
*Doesn't really have any significant features that would make you want to get Clipdiary over the dozens of other clipboard managers. In fact, lacks some features found in rival programs.
