BootRacer is a light-weight, easy to use and convenient tool for monitoring the Windows PC boot time and controlling over startup programs. The main approach of BootRacer is an ability to exclude a user password timeout time from the calculated total.

How does BootRacer save my time and my life?

  • BootRacer calculates the clear Windows boot-up time (without password timeout).
  • It monitors your PC's boot time and notifies you about any speed degradation.
  • BootRacer measures Total Time used by startup programs at every boot.
  • You will know which programs slow down Windows boot-up.
  • You can easily disable slow down programs from Windows startup.

To those users complaining of slow PCs, I want to add my 2¢ here. I use a program called Registrar Registry Manager, which is free for home use. I always use it after un-installing anything! It invariably finds many useless, orphaned registry entries left behind after a standard uninstall. And it doesn't eat them up until/unless I tell it to. Great program!

I'm not sure what to think. After installation, my laptop went nuts -- all images and texts flashed on and off incessantly, so I wasn't even able to enter the registration code. I thought maybe this was a virus. I tried to uninstall the program using Control Panel, but even that wasn't working. So I clicked on the main power button to restart, hoping to open up in Safe Mode, then uninstall this. But, a few seconds later, everything went back to normal -- no jumping images, no hopping texts, easy pasting, easy everything. Any opinions out there? Do you think this program gave me some kind of virus? (Yes, I pay for AVAST full coverage.) Thanks for any help or opinions! I still have the program.
P.S. I use Win 11. Although it doesn't say so here, it does list 11 as being safe to install on, on the developers' page.

Sounds like a bug, not a virus, especially if it didn't persist after reboot. I never experienced something like that in any version of it I've installed. I've used it happily for many years, and I highly doubt there is any compromising element to the install such as malware.

Jeffrey, thanks very much for your input. I'm tending to feel that you're right (I never did restart the laptop, btw), since everything is working just fine, and my AV hasn't picked anything up. But, oh boy -- it sure did give me a scare while it was happening!

I can only imagine XD
No problem, I'm just glad you decided to keep the app. It's really useful and it would be a shame if you abandoned it over this unusual incident that we don't know the proper cause of.

I installed this last time it was offered. I thhought it was great.

Shortly afterwards I started getting "black screens" and "Windows explorer" kept shutting down.

I tried variousactions including istalling a backup OS from the time I started having problems and nothing would fix it.

I don't know if it was a product failure or if there was an incompatibility with something like "DoNotSpy 10" but the only fix was to remove it and, on removal, my PC returned to normal.

I am not saying don't use the product or that it is no good just that, if you get black screens and find windows explorer keeps shutting down, after installing it, this product could very well be the cause.

Did I make an error? I downloaded and installed the software here, but from what I can tell after installing and running it, I do not have the premium version.
I have a gruelingly slow PC and hoped to correct it.
How can I get the full version or what m

In my comment above, my text got cut off somehow. The end was supposed to say "What might I be misunderstanding or doing wrong?

Nebulous, Many years ago I suffered a gruelingly slow P.C. and nothing could fix it other than reinstalling Windows.

Registry repairers in my experience are hopeless.

If you install and uninstal lots of programs to test this can be the cause. The answer to that is use CCleaner to check the registry on uninstall and even search your C:\ drive for remnants.

You need to check your startup programs in the task manager and turn off anything you're not using or unistall them.

Most important of all get Paragon or Aomei backup software and back up your OS regularly especially if you decide to re-install windows. then if you have a slow down you can reinstall an earlier version.

(My experience is also, not only is Windows Restore totally incapable of restoring it destroys your stystem during its failure to restore).

I have the latest free version. To bad the reg key in the download will not work with free version, at least I could not get it to work. Too much pain to uninstall free version with all it's startup control settings & then reinstall pro & reset all startup controls. So I will be staying with the free version. First time this didn't work but thanks anyway!

Looks like the key is designed to work exclusively in the revision that comes from the included installer. You can install it on top of the existing install even of the same version, no uninstall required. That's what I did and it worked just fine.

Don, you really just have to install Revo Uninstaller, and then delete all the registry entries you get.

Every time I've had an issue like this using Revo Uninstaller has fixed those problems when trying to install new versions of programs.

I have a previous version. Is it necessary to remove it before installing this version?

BTW, it is very helpful in controlling boot-up time.

I've been using this reliably for years. Great utility with actually useful metrics and features. UI could use some work but all important customization features are present.
Lifetime license giveaway for this is really nice. I've only seen 1-year giveaways for this in the past. Thanks!

Some things I forgot to mention:
Make sure you enable Startup Control so you can take advantage of its most powerful & useful functionality.
Windows 11 support, themes, and scaling options are included.
You can totally get by with the Free version. The Pro version here provides mostly nice-to-have features.

Jeffrey,
I know you said it was a lifetime license giveaway but it does say "Licence details:
Lifetime, no updates" so I don't know if you meant that with a lifetime license you would get lifetime updates too? But it looks like when I try to update with this updated version it does not let me do it.

So I guess it is a lifetime license but with no updates. I know I've had a giveaway for this program in the past but I think it was longer than a year as well, most likely a lifetime license with no updates too. Maybe I am wrong though

Correct - lifetime but no updates. That's the standard for giveaways; in all the years I've been collecting these, I don't think I've ever encountered a single lifetime giveaway that did allow for updates. (Well technically the only ones that do allow updates are web-based SaaS subscription giveaways.)
