Anyone wanting this but does not want to have to disable their security software to install the themidia wrapped freeware installer can freely download the same freeware installer in its bare state at
http://cdn.bytescout.com/BarCodeGenerator.exe
This URL is freely published on their freeware downloads page.
Not sure why the vendoror GAOTD insisted in wrapping the installer to protect it since it's not a giveaway specific build so nothing to protect... except the probably false positive on Virustotal that the setup.exe/gcd wrapper obscures:

APEX Malicious
The only impolite (not malicious) thing this and their other freeware installers do that I can see is always install the bytescout SDK web installer as the file "BytescoutInstaller.exe" in all their programs program files sub folder and an extra shortcut to the SDK web installer they sell in the start menu folder titled "ByteScout products for software developers" which is were they hope to make their money.
There is a history.txt file in the instalation folder but no links to it so if you are interested in the history of the program you'll find it there.

It did just what I needed it to do.

It still says it's the Freeware version, even after exiting and restarting!

It would be nice if the "Title Bar" would no longer state "Freeware" after entering the Registration key. Main issue, which may or may not be user error (I don't think so), is when trying to use the generated bar code the size is way too large for a typical bar code label and becomes illegible when resized to fit a label.

Having a third party program create barcodes is very limited. What happens if you want to print barcodes from Excel, Word or from your invoicing program?
I would recommend (for Windows, anyway) a barcode truetype font. This allows you to print barcodes from any Windows application that can print.
Admittedly, printing QR codes is better than printing normal barcodes (more data can be stored in a QR code) but for many scenarios, a standard barcode is more than adequate.

Chris, it says it "works with popular doc editors". Is that not the case?

If you know the number, the last number on a UPC code is a checksum generated by a formula. A generator should figure it out for you.

After registering it still says it's the Freeware version, including after exiting and restarting?

JohnL, I would not be concerned with that. The previous version did the same thing but entering the license allowed for multiple users and removed Ads,banners etc....

JohnL, there should be no operational difference between the business license and the freeware licensed version it's just a demo program for the ByteScout SDK. Register it or not makes no functional differnce since giveaway T&C is strictly personal use anyway...
