So does this slow my 10MB/sec download, 1MB/sec (100Mbps down/10Mbps up) network speeds? If so, that's in essence, a downgrade in service. I could see maybe 2% slower, but no more, may as well not be paying for the upgraded service.

I do know that some servers are faster than others, w/out calling out servers across North America, there are some that offers Linux Mint & the download speed of the 1.8GB ISO takes less than 3 minutes, others may take up to 15. So if this VPN deal is dependent on server speeds, we're at the mercy of these, rather the ISP plan we pay for.

That's unacceptable & not worth a month's bother to me, because I know for a fact that server speed depends on many factors, including on the server infrastructure itself. Not to include network congestion.

Some may benefit from a VPN in certain circumstances, while the majority of us has nothing to hide & just wants the fastest speeds possible at all costs. For privacy, and to leave zero trace of activities on a computer's drives, just boot from most any recent Linux install media, which doubles as a test drive of the OS. Since it's running in memory only, nothing is left on the computer, there may be empty ISP log files, yet nothing on the computer to prove anything. Or one can do the same at a public (or a relative/friend) network if privacy is needed from one's own ISP.

Another thing I don't like about free trials, no one wants to give as much as a 24 hour pass w/out a credit/debit card to see if it's for the person or not. I strongly suspect if one frequently visits speedtest.net while on the VPN service & runs it once per hour, one will see that we're not getting the speed we pay for. By traveling through multiple servers, no way.

The old rule applies here, the shortest distance from Point A (out computer) to Point B (where we want to go), is the straightest path possible. Going through multiple nations to get to a site less than 100 miles away is not going to get us there faster.

Oh, and the downloading of large ISO files, the speed difference will surely show. Kiss those 2GB ISO's in less than three minutes goodbye.

Cat Tilley, VPN is different everywhere, they just released a new version of the software where you can choose the correct protocol for you, For example comcast throttle UDP traffic during peak time (which is most of the day actually for them) if you used OpenVPN over UDP it will be slow, in other networks that doesn't throttle UDP it's for sure much faster than TCP (btw SSH is a TCP based protocol) so you should test different connections and choose the best geo location for your case, things not as easy as (oh it's slow).

Maybe the reason for the one month license is the fact that so many VPN systems fail for an inability to keep viable proxies available. I tried using a couple of different "services" and each time I wanted to use one of the VPN networks I spent a great deal of time going down proxy lists to determine which proxies were still operational. Add that time to the slow server delays mentioned in another comment on this webpage and it is easy to see how people not really needing to hide their IP address get discouraged with VPN.

A VPN connection is generally slow because of all the added security, protocols and encryption carried out on end-to-end basis. This is done for the security of your data.
Having said that, if you are experiencing speed slower than usual, then you can take some steps to improve the situation.
Before you take any step, we recommend you to check your internet speed without PureVPN, then check it with PureVPN connected. This will clearify whether your Internet connection speed is down or not.
