Not a bad software if you are lazy person, but you can do same thing with the windows task manager with 2 lines of instructions, like: activate on this date and copy "data folder here" to destination disk, done.

Another good alternative to compare with that has worked well for me is Bamboo File Sync and Backup by Haxar Limited, previously offered here on GOTD back on March 8, 2011, and is now free for personal use:

I don't yet have a Windows 10 machine to test it on, but it was updated to work on Windows 8.1 where, for me, it has worked well over a LAN. It is also supposed to work for remotely networked & removable drives, etc.; and seems to include features to cover most situations including handling massive numbers of files/folders, small memory footprint, batch/scheduled/triggered execution, etc.
This might give today's AlgoLogic a few ideas to incorporate into their product.

@ XP-Man "On viewing the backup folder saw that could it had just copied the files across, no compression."
Well, that is exactly what I prefer, in my case. BUT I couldn't get it work....
I did what they said, and put all four elements into a separate folder, yet AutoDataBackupServiceSetup.msi would not run.
A message said that access was "denied" to run the Setup.exe file. But if I ever have a problem with Setup for any other GOTD programme, I copy it to a new folder -- and it usually works.
I went back to my ACDSee programm, which unzips the file that downloaded, and found that (somewhat unusually) I could run setup directly from there -- BUT it would not "pick up" the .msi file on the way. It said, "Verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."
So now what do I do???
I am using 32-bit Win7 on a Lenovo T420. But I was also hoping to try it on a 64-bit Win10 machine. Now I don't know if I will have the same problem there.... Or, most importantly, HOW to solve it....

Tranmontane.
So appalled by the quality of today's download that my comment initially was too abrupt.
Should have said that the option to be compressed or not to be compressed should be included, but only in a standard format.
It is pointless trying to compress modern video files, but to store database files without being compressed is equally pointless as they compress so well.

Tranmontane,
You might like Karens replicator - freeware, Backups are being stored uncompressed.

Though last updated 2011 (because of Karen's early death), it does a fast job without any problems on my old laptop 32 bit, Windows 7 ultimate.

My brand new but often-crashes DELL laptop has a built in app (Dell Back up and Restore). Should i trade it with this one? I generally avoid backup software as i think it takes extra resources always. I manually backup each month. Please educate me, boys!

Go to the task manager and instruct what to do and when, no computer resources used. The backups will be scheduled once and that is it.

Installed and registered without any problems, opened up to somewhat bland interface.
Did a quick test and was very disappointed by the program; for instance when attempting to change the scheduled time a calendar was presented?
Changed it manually and saved my backup and on viewing the backup folder saw that could it had just copied the files across, no compression.
In my opinion this program has no redeeming features and would be expensive as freeware.

Installed on a win7 64 bit system, an error appeared during installation, BUT... it seems to run fine. This is a basic backup utility... a no frills service, read... a REAL basic system. You could probably do this yourself without the program IF you only have a few files or folders to backup.
There are better programs that do a way better job, but you cannot beat the price of this one if you don't expect much, at least...
Will I keep it? Probably not. But someone must like this, so don;t just take my opinion ... decide for yourself.

Downloaded and sorry to say that I completely concur with your assessement. My cynical side says, "Well at least it might get someone doing backups". Realisticly though, somehow I think todays offering would need more glitz ... more pizzazz ... to accomplish what the last 35 years of the PC has failed to convince the majority to do.
This is a hard sell ...... :(

"There are better programs that do a way better job, but you cannot beat the price of this one if you don't expect much, at least.." Actually . . . many of those better ones do beat the price of this one. . .
Because they're free.
I wish today's developer well but a $30 back-up program needs to be a lot more than merely basic when "free for personal use" software of the calibre of Ascomp's deservedly popular Synchredible is out there:
http://www.synchredible.com/
Thanks, then, GAOTD, and thanks, too, to AlgoLogic, for today's promotional opportunity. Unfortunately though, that $30 sticker price, whether incurred on a re-install cost or outright purchase, makes downloading Auto Data Backup Manager 2.0 all a bit pointless. Competition in this sector from both freeware (or free-for-personal-use-only) is such that AlgoLogic would be wise to re-think its commercial strategy.
