pauljnjean, it cannot capture ALL the sound being played by the computer just the ONE spawned DESKTOP program. It cannot capture audio from the computers input devices either. It is hardly a professional audio recoding and editing tool for windows computers seeing as it only captures the output from ONE program at a time. It's a novel solution for creating a single programs tutorial sound track, track that can be mixed with a voice over track using something more adaptable like Audacity... and then added to a screen capture video as it avoids recording other system/program notification sounds like new mail or restart needed etc. Except it's novel as the exact same program with slightly different skin as available from another similar provider. We've had them both here before!

Unless you want your "Documents" folder polluted with audio captures you should go into Prefernces | Output and change the default output location to something more appropriate for example "C:\users\USERNAME\Music\My Recordings\ and unless we are assured that future updates are included in this short license we should disable automatic Update check in Preferences | General

under Vista and XP the supplied SETUP.EXE is not a valid win32 application it was built for windows NT 6.1 or above wich is windows 7 or above. Using innoextractor I was able to extract the setup.exe contents to a separate folder and execute it just fine under Windows Vista and registered it using provided license. It is an improvement over the previous giveaway 2.5.0.25 as now the program does not require Admin rights to run, therefore spawned programs will no longer be running in unsafe elevated admin mode. If AudFree want to retain XP and Vista compatibility they need to rebuild the installer and make sure it's linked for NT 5.1 or above which is XP and not NT 6.1 which is Windows 7.

It will not work for any Microsoft store universal apps as this can only launch desktop applications it works by spawning the program whose output is to be captured by hooking into the sound subsystem offered to the program.
