Dear GOTD users,

Ashampoo company is sorry for the registration problems you have encountered.

But there is also some good news: the registration page is still active so you can get your key and enjoy all benefits of the registered version.

Sincerely
GOTD team

Update to #13: several hours on, tried again. This time the page I am redirected to is completely different and I am able to get the required license key. As is usual with Ashampoo products, installed quickly and easily (W7Pro).

Also using Chrome to try to get a license key, with no luck, and I tried using two different e-mail addresses...

A few months ago, I gave Music a try on their "free trial" offer on WIN7 64. And it was indeed a no-strings free trial. I liked it so well that I bought it. No regrets. I use it to get music onto my Galaxy. My only complaint is that I am unable to create an MP3 file from the sound track from a video. Probably I'm just inept. Anyway, I have a variety of Ashampoo's programs and I like them all. Thanks for the offer on GOTD.

Ashampoo products are top notch, there is no question; however, I prefer MediaMonkey-Free for this type of application. IMHO.

Ashampoo provides quality software and uses aggressive marketing. The advertising opt-out mentioned above is good advice. I'm interested in Music Studio, but wondered about the update feature for file names. I want to rename a bunch of MP3 files with generic names and no ID3 tags. The were created by recording streaming music on my computer. Certain programs like Shazam and Soundhound can recognize just the sound (waveform) and identify songs. Will this or any other program you've tried recognize songs and rename the files automatically? I'm too lazy to do it manually.

Any request for activation takes me to a page that says "Since we are upgrading our servers the Ashampoo websites are temporarily not available." Not the greatest timing.

What a crock!!!!!
I installed it and go to the web site for the free product key, and oh I get this message.
"Since we are upgrading our servers the Ashampoo websites are temporarily not available.

Due to this we offer you a fantastic 50% discount on selected Ashampoo top products!"

Nice try, I will not bite.

Can't get License key. Have tried with Chrome and Firefox. When I click on 'Get Free Activation Key' both send me to a long list of 'top sellers' which I can purchase at knockdown prices, but nothing else. I don't even have IE installed, so can't try that. Have had several Ashampoo products previously, and happy with all of them, but alas cannot even try this one.

Won't retrieve License Key. I'm using the Chrome Browser. I'm not interested in launching IE to see if it will work with that browser. If the program won't register through the browser of my choice then I'm not interested in the program.

Installed and registered easily with my Windows 7 laptop. Creative music programs ROCK! lol. Cool that it's both FUN and FUNctional! Yay! Would think anybody who is into tunes will at least want to try this. I have found Ashampoo programs I've gotten from GOTD (and that I've purchased from Ashampoo as well) to be very reliable over the past several years. Thanks GOTD and Ashampoo!
One question for this and all developers and GOTD. Is there any way that in the Readme files or with the offer, it could be stated whether this is a program we need to go "uncheck" or otherwise stop "automatic updating", so that we don't have to fret about losing our full access unless we want to, with the program doing so itself? Each program differs in that realm, it seems, so it can be confusing for those of us who aren't fulltime software pros. I've lost more than one program I loved that way in the past. Which made me so sad I wound up Not paying to upgrade, where I might have done so otherwise, because it hurt my feelings lol.
I noticed a pop up statement after installing that said "searching for update" or something to that effect. Aargh? There's a button that talks about updating in the upper right, but isn't specific whether it's automatic or not, and I'm afraid to press it (in case it searches for an update) to find out.

Hi - Dual-boot here - (Win 10 TP Build 10041 & Win8.1.2) Installed and wrote a disk in each (I don't mind the background, just a matter of taste Karl - do not get me wrong - I read Karl's comments, as well as, everyone elses & Karl is from all I've seen "well informed & knowledgeable" about all the programs I've seen him comment on - I may not always agree, but I always read - as for the voting - vote your conscience & forget about all the other nay-sayers. I found this program to be one I will be using again & again & if I find something I can report or suggest I will. The ONLY tools I wish this program contained for the price is a CD Ripper & a DVD Ripper & with them for $10 Can more I would buy the retail version. Have a great day guys - c u in the funny papers ;)

Good point Paul next time I'll do my best to be second.
Just so happened it was over 3am when I commented and I happened to use the wrong comment box.
I only noticed it when it was too late and posted. Actually I tried re-posting but it didn't let me.
It said something like " it appears that you are trying to post the same thing" . So I just gave up and went to bed.

I've used many of Ashampoo's software. All their products are keepers. I can't see why Music Studio one would be any different. I don't care for them sending emails, using sales pitch to get me to buy other products. On the other hand, using their software for free and getting the emails to buy, isn't a bad trade. I'll be keeping Ashampoo Music Studio.

It amazes me, on a daily basis, how so many 'votes' for giveaway programs can come in before anyone can really have had time to evaluate the programs.

It also amazes me how 'karl' seems to be able to review EVERY SINGLE PROGRAM which appears on this site. He has only ONE particular set-up. There are many individual system configurations. What works on one particular set-up may not work on another - too many variables make it impossible for any one program to operate correctly on every possible hardware combination.
Personally, I could not care whether or not a company's program displays a name and address or not. What matters to me is whether or not the program works for me - not for 'karl', and that it is free of any form of 'malware'.

GOTD provides the daily program, therefore there must be a way to contact the company issuing the program - if not, how can GOTD provide it?

It is also not possible for any one person to have an interest in every single program, no matter the subject, provided by GOTD. No one person can have a need/use for every single program, yet 'karl' provides an opinion on every single one. I am sorry, but he cannot be an 'expert user' of every single type of program, and cannot possibly determine if every single program performs as advertised.

This latest offer of the AShampoo Music Studio 5.0.7. program is, as far as I am concerned, an excellent choice. It does what I want, and does so in a simple manner.

The programs provided by GOTD are there to be used or otherwise. If you have a need/use for a program, try it. If it does not perform as you might wish, delete it and look for something else. Don't negatively review a program just because you personally don't like it, or need it.

Keep up the good work, GOTD, as you help many people on a daily basis.

The daily reviews from Karl are a very useful service to the GAOD community. I do appreciate the time he devotes to this every day, even when he is not personally interested in the software. And many people do as well, as you can see from the score. And the information about name and address is interesting and can be useful, especially when privacy and security are involved. A few people criticize him every now and then, like you do, and would probably like him to stop. But the community as a whole does support him and hope he will continue his much appreciated work.

I think the Yes/No voting is almost entirely based on whether or not people like the choice for that day's giveaway and has little to do with the quality, functionality, etc of the programme itself. People who don't like, need, or want the day's programme vote no and those who like the choice vote yes. Obviously, there are exceptions to that generalisation, but I believe it's why the vote results and the comments are usually so far apart in their opinion of the day's software.

Hi, Karl provides a decent, honest and welcome Service here, so 3 cheers for that!! He is our 'Software testing Connoisseur' and in this sense resembles indeed a wine tester having his taste buds and nose highly tuned, but naturally 'spitting' these samples out ('uninstalled via reboot'..) - otherwise he would be one big 'alkie maister':), not up to the job, not a fine Software Steward that he is. In my opinion Stewards are as important as Experts in any field! Occasionally he might want to keep or buy what he 'tastes' like any of us here. Occasionally also he might get something incorrectly (to err is human!?) but usually puts his hands up when that's the case and arguments proof him wrong. Highly commendable, not many step down from high horses.. I like and value Karl's opinions and vast computer knowledge. To test Giveaways almost daily, or bother to dig up older materials and present many, many Software cases - is time consuming, but otherwise (for us) educating and interesting. Keep it going Mate!

"It amazes me, on a daily basis, how so many ‘votes’ for giveaway programs can come in before anyone can really have had time to evaluate the programs."

- What amazes me is how some people think a program has never been available and used before it was offered here on GAOTD.

Sounds like to me that you are jealous of his fame. I had a problem with him once (and stood up to him in a professional manner-he was too hard on a company), but other than that, he's been very helpful. I can tell you that every piece of software that I have tried on my computer from this site has worked. I don't think your argument holds any merit about something being fishy with Karl's reviews. I think your whole comment is about you being jealous of his fame here. I don't this is a fame anyone should be envious of as it obviously takes a lot of hard work to get there. Take time yourself, make a review everyday, and let yourself rise to the top. You might want to start with an apology to Karl.

@Ashampoo + GOTD

Windows XP is still in use on many computers at least offline. (E.g. we are using our old XP computer offline for private aims and with a lot of hardware - good or any drivers are no longer available - and with (professional) software we can't afford to buy again very costly needlessly. Our Win 8.1 laptop contacts internet and has no content worth of spying. You could ask: why aren't we using a virtual computer? Our variant really is safer, isn't it! And we let work one computer alone and are working independantly on the other one. Multitasking is o.k. but if one software needs all ressources for running fastest.)

Therefore could you please mention further on wether a program is still apt for XP?!! And for those readers using XP offline it is important to know whether you can transfer the licence somehow at giveaway day to their XP computers. For portable versions no problem anyhow but for others like this one?

And how do anybody finds the above information worthful for using today's program. This is again Windows XP vs the latest OS. Come on get on with the old ones. Try to "ADAPT". Any latest OS only needs the amount of RAM to run smoothly. So upgrade it to the maximum. In my case I own Acer Travelmate 4335, this one came with only 1 GB RAM and I simply upgraded it with 4 GB. HDD space is sufficient for ones normal work .HDD - 160 GB. "ADAPT"

@ FrancisBorne

As there is no official reply yet, I'll try to answer you.

Firstly, you are right that there are still many users of XP, I even use it online.
Therefore, developers should state whether their software supports XP.

As the present software does not mention XP, we should assume that it doesn't support it. You can, however, get a previous version, e.g. 4.0.7 supporting XP for free, without apparent restrictions in its use. See e.g. here:
http://ashampoo-music-studio-2013.en.softonic.com/
or here, if you are German:

Many thanks for all useful advice from all nice people!

There is another argument "Save our planet":
If you use equipment it will wear out, e.g. harddisks sooner or later will die. I don't like to throw away good hardware not apt for Win 8.1 including better manufactured older harddisks - our planet is already filled with trash. New hardware is cheaper and often of minor quality. Do you remember when harddisks were gurantied for five years? But if I'm using old hardware the new one will wear out in later years. And if my oldest computer e.g. converts a video I don't care in the least whether it needs more time as I'm doing something else in the meantime. You only have to use an editing software where you can preselect the cutting events.

And a second argument:
I'm using a multiboot system with Win XP and a lot of special Linux variants (more than 20), e.g. a complete music OS running in RAM with utmost low latency which is important for MIDI as there shouldn't be a remarkable delay between hitting a key and hearing the sound. And I love it having all sorts of instruments available on my computer, even church organs with a lot of registers and even antique ones like Silberman's (by soundfonts). And there is another Linux variant simulating a whole Wurlitzer organ (changeable to other soundfonts) and looking like it. Because of Win 8 novelties UEFI/secure boot (which already is insecure) till now only a few Linux variants are running on latest machines and my favorites aren't.

Ashampoo Software I'm using regularly since years is Ashampoo Burning Studio and it's working perfectly. Sorry that I couldn't find time to try todays GOTD. But I supposed that my XP tolerance suggestion would be of interest for more people.

I had to eat the bullet - it cost me over $30,000 to change to Vista, When Vista died - Win7 came out & almost ALL of my XP computers with just a couple of dollars of upgrades are now working and Win7 is supported until 2020 - Bite The Bullet! (Win7 or new machines - your choice)

Installed and registered the Ashampoo way without problems on a Win 8.1.3 Pro 64 bit system. This time the installer from Ashampoo, no wrapper.

A German company, well known due to their professional marketing, with all legal information, required by the European law.
A previous version Ashampoo Music Studio 4.1.2 was GOTD on July 9, 2014. Here are the old reviews:
http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/ashampoo-music-studio-4-1-2/

A well structured interface opens with a terrible background. Do they think of a party room? This is really a swiss knife of music. From the common manipulations about creating covers to the mix tape "party mix". Here we are with the stylish interface. Due to the clear program structure it is easy to handle. The "analyze files" looks for files with missing or incomplete tags.

In my short test, it does what it claims. I didn't expect another result.

Don't know whether I should keep it. I'll decide later after.

Karl, I really appreciate your enlightening contributions to this forum. However, it seems that you are a bit too soft on your Ashampoo compatriots for their "strong marketing policy" compared to your total loss of objectivity once, when the software company was: Turkish. Please help in keeping this forum scientific, objective and equitable that is void of any personal biases. Thanks again for all your very useful reviews.
