Minor correction. My previous remarks about fixed windows should have read:

- All wood framed windows seem to have an opening mechanism. I can't find a simple fixed wood framed window without one.

Because there are a few unspecified fixed windows, but none in the wood framed section, which is the type I need.

And about the spam. Every time you activate an Ashampoo app you need to log in to your "account" there and uncheck every box in the subscriptions (or whatever it's called) section there. You'll only get a confirmation mail that you've unsubscribed and after that no more spam. Every time you activate some new software the boxes are re-checked again so you'll have to uncheck them again as part of the 'activation process'.

I have installed three Ashampoo apps from GOTD and have done that every time and have never received additional mails.

I have a real issue with AShampoo. They force me to have a 'profile' and subscribe me to newsletters, from which I can only 'unsubscribe' by signing in with a password I have to wait to receive. I went through all this with their last offer, and now, once again, I'm signed up for garbage. I've tried to delete my 'profile' but can't find a way. This is the last offer from them that I'll download, and I'm uninstalling this one now.

Installed and runs ok on Windows XP SP3 Have used many of Ashampoo products before and have not had any problems with any of them except their firewall (don't know if they stiff offer that or not) I agree with the issue about hotmail. They used to allow hotmail addresses and then all of the sudden they didn't. I even was able to get in and have them send my login ifo and it showed my hotmail address but no longer was able to use it. Fortuate they had an option of transfering my info to another account so I ended up using Gmail. But agree they should fix this issue.

**BEWARE ! ** Forced email AND SUBSCRIPTION signup, including FIVE clicks later of hidden subscription selections (not automatic subscription cancellation), scroll down boxes to get to unsubscribe from all, and "yes, I'm sure" options. I do not appreciate forced signups, nor sending me back to email twice to get codes, nor a big DOUBLE long list of product links in welcome email that's meant for a WEB PAGE!! This is harassment just to try a product and is registration spam!

The whole idea of "opting-in" in (duh), is to "OPT"... and NOT to be solicited, forced, or co-erced into signing up just to try a product. Oh, and major toolbar junk spam in installing the dam program as well. Who wants to go through that kind of hell just to try out a program? Now I don't care who the hell a new company is to consider their products, when even ONE thing is forced on me. DELETE!

Major posting note here to be forewarned to others as well. I only wished I was able to warn everyone earlier. I'm also biting my tongue on the name of this software even sounding foreign. You just don't do this to people, nor treat your front end prospects so badly. That makes yourself look bad, and whatever you represent. You want "repeat" customers, to give a lure and treat them like gold, not send them through the ringer, kind of business. Whatever.

Also, closing all hints of the program, still left the folder of all this unzipped software was in, to be unmoveable, stuck to my Desktop.

Installed and activated fine on XP SP2 and was able to play with it a bit with no problem. The only thing I've used that's even close to this would be Visio, pre-MS. I'll have more of a learning curve than normal so appreciate the help file being local.

I agree with #30 TK on the email harvesting. Their first email says the two-step process is to ensure no one registers software in my name. Makes no sense since they don't even ask for my name, plus it wouldn't benefit anyone to do that (but hey, if there's anyone around who'd like to register me for the newest Dreamweaver, feel free). Also, they don't allow all domains for email, yet when registering for my own use to get a key, any domain should be just fine since I wouldn't give an invalid address if I wanted to get the emailed key. I use spamgourmet, not for throwaways, but to allow mail from a specific sender only. Ashampoo refused the several different spamgourmet domains I tried, even the one that almost always works. IMHO that means they're actively trying to ensure my address works for a third party. Anyway it's just a minor nuisance since I used a throwaway on my own domain. All that work and they got nothing.

Vista Business SP2 install and activate clean, I thought. But after closing and restarting, I got activation nag screen. Does that mean I'm not activated? I can't tell by looking in help/Info (About in most other apps) option.

#6 The GOD version is the same as the link you provided, but when you activate that one it appears to be a 30-day trial

The newest version is the "3D CAD 2" version advertised at the top of this page.

One feature I would like to see is option to always display text names on the toolbar.

When using Imperial measure I would like to see option of Feet & Inches as well as inches only

When using imperial measure I would like to see option to use fractional inches rather than decimal inches

It is only good for 1 room at a time, so you can't do whole house. But then again maybe you can. Looking at Example2, it has some sort of interior wall "objects" defining an interior "closet" (?).

There is a simple help file, too simple. I've had a heck of a time trying to create a model of my living room. I "accidentally" managed to place a door, but that is it so far. I don't know what the "secret" is. Seems to be some form of drag and drop, sometimes.

I dragged a "bookshelf" on OK, but I couldn't resize it. The dimensions appear to be interdependent, I change length, width "scales" to match. I reset width, length changes. My shelf does not match the proportions of theirs.

I've been trying to place a window with no luck.

So I tried one of their examples. Looks very nice, but I still had no luck trying to modify it by adding a window.

Clicking on an object highlights it in red and displays it's dimensions. It would be nice if the object name was also displayed so that I could locate it when working on another diagram.

Example1 is a nice kitchen, funny thing, the basket (I think) appears to be placed punching through the floor, as do the legs of the nearby chairs (grin).

I've tried using the dimensions visible option, but it does not appear to work, or I do not understand what it is trying to do.

Oops, in the installation, the "Objects" subfolders are named in german!

You can apply many colors to objects, but they way they are displayed in the selection list make it hard to see the color.

Bottom line, it produces very nice diagrams. The diagrams can easily be rotated in any direction. I just wish I could figure out how to make my own diagrams! I like the end result, but without some additional help figuring out the program I'll be deleting it soon. (Especially if the activation hasn't taken).

I'm having the same problem #24 had --- I get the "Raumplaner" error message, although in English, when I try to enter the activation code they emailed me. Have now downloaded, uninstalled and downloaded again with the same result (I did notice that they sent me the same activation code both times). This is on my laptop which, #28, IS running XP. I also downloaded on my desktop which is running Vista (yucch) and there it worked just fine.

Managed a reasonable copy of our living room, but frustrating and very time consuming. A few points for beginners. Choose a shape for the room to set walls! To remove items you use Edit/Cut. To resize items, use two decimal places, AND tick distortion box or items will disappear or do very odd tricks. This needs setting measurements and clicking OK each time, so doesn't resize live as you adjust the measurements. There's no option to anchor items eg to walls or the floor or on top of another item in one go for most objects. I found accurately placing objects very frustrating. There's an X/Y/Z move option, but it isn't live, You set the distance eg X -0.05 and as you click OK it moves. Yes you can repeat this, but by the time you've set both other axis to zero and so on, it's tedious and VERY time consuming. I had to combine three shapes to replicate a fireplace. Something of a nuisance! And you might find some of the furniture shapes restrictive. Tick the fix object box once you have something in the right place, so you don't accidentally move it and spend ages getting it back where it was!

Having said all that, it is possible with practice to get good use out of this program, but at the expense of a LOT of time getting things reasonably where you want them!

The program installed fine on Win 7 x64 and registered without problems. Code was almost immediate. When I was directed to AShampoo's site to register for the key, I choose to NOT join the AShampoo community. My registration key email was immediately followed by SPAM emails from 5 different coupon and deals sites. Coincidence?

Anyone else get a pop-up message about a new version being available the first time you open the program? Based on an AShampoo comment above, downloading from their site and using the GiveAwayOfTheDay link for a code code will not get you the full version. Does upgrading void the deal?

Installed, registered, runs without issue on Win7Ult/64 bit.

Ashampoo--1. standard dimensions in USA is by feet. (One foot = 12 inches)

2. The wall function is irritating. If I initially set dimension to be 8 feet tall (96 inches) then walls should default to that height. Wall should be installed with a simple start, stop and snap to function. I'll keep looking for it but why there is more than one icon for creating a wall is beyond me. Walls don't snap to the exterior walls of the house. ((Note--only been playing for 30 mins but still some things should be intuitively easy?)

3. I find the program almost unusable as there is no grid laid out as if on graph paper. I don't want to position interior walls by eyeball or placing my ruler up on the screen. Is there a menu drop down to get this that I haven't found yet?

the program is simple meaning not too much in it. the cad upgrade is interresting, but couldnt find any circular walls. the object libraries are limited and could use more. this remonds me of a chat program called active worlds, where all objects are used to build 3-d environments, but the object libraries there are huge. the problem comes with objects that are circular. i would much prefer to right click on an object and change it color, drag and drop for position, change texture by right click, many funtions that would speed this up should be on right click menu. For instance, i did a wall, and wanted stone, i couldnt find stone, but i found marble. if i could right click and select change material and color, then a menu, and then done. For the objects, the libraries need much improvement. for odd shapes like trusses and circular walls i see nothing, nothing for lighting or lamps. i should be able to highlight an edge and pull on it to enalrge the object. there too much movement in the three d, you should be able to build as well in three d, but the screen moves around. a third eye view from above would work.and right and left arrow keys to turn it. zoom in and out is fine too. could talk alot on it, but definitely could use some programming to make it much easier.

The last couple of downloads have resulted in corrupted files from the main site, no matter how many times I repeated the effot. And, in both cases, using the mirror gave me a clean download.

If I'm not the only one having that problem, perhaps someone at GOTD should look into the main download site.

I tried to recreate my living room but ran into several problems because of lacking features.

- In Textures>Materials I couldn't find such an obvious thing as a regular brick wall (with variations). Only Tiles and Granite. Only after some time I discovered you could also use the materials in the 'Materials' section to cover walls and objects. But the red bricks (MW Clinker) in the Masonry section are ridiculously large. Only 6 layers of bricks cover a height of 2.8m. When I use MW Clinker Mixed it takes 20 layers to cover the same height, which is still on the large side because in reality the number of layers is more than double that (46 - I counted). There doesn't seem to be a way to change the scale of these bricks.

- I can't find a way to create just an opening in a wall that has no door in it.
- All windows seem to have an opening mechanism. I can't find a simple fixed window without one.
- All wallpapers are with flower motif.

It would be nice if you could take a photograph of your wallpaper or other wall or floor coverings and import them with a simple way to adjust which part of the image should be repeated to get the correct repeating pattern (for wallpaper or masonry for instance).

When using the app in English there are a few places where suddenly German is still used. As in the positioning menu of walls and the names of the doors at the bottom of the list "Haustür 1004", which BTW also seems to be there twice.

And Door>Position>Wall distance doesn't work correctly. When I move a door by mouse the value decreases when I move it towards a wall (L2) of an L-type 2 shaped room. When I decrease the value with the buttons it moves in the opposite direction. BUG!

And why does it change the viewing angle when I right-click and select Show all? I want it to zoom/centre the room to show all without changing the viewing angle.

--------------

Using Win 7 Home Premium x64 this installed and activated fine even using ThinApp to make it portable.

This looks to be a very nice app with an interface very similar to Google Sketchup. It is very full featured and will fill the needs of most users. While you could do the same thing with a pencil and some graph paper, this will let you explore many different 'what-if' scenarios. Two thumbs up from me and a definite keeper.
