When I tried to install the product I get the message that windows cannot create the destination file. Also when I requested an activation code I never received the code.

Jud Cotterman, I downloaded the file yesterday but forgot to install it last night. Figured I'd try this morning, clicked on the get free code, and was sent a code no problem. And it was accepted in the Home Designer installer no problem either. I tried this about an hour ago, without getting the activation code till then.

The same installation file works perfectly in Windows 7 -64bit, but it gives the "Could not load file or assembly 'CyRoof.dll' or one of its dependencies..." when running in Windows 8.1 64 bit.

I have tried to download this several times tonight, and get the message...
Unable to open https://nam02.safelinks.....and a bunch of symbols...
I "liked" this page, and "shared" this site on my facebook, but can not figure out how to download...
Guess I'm not supposed to get this...oh well...
I have downloaded several other programs in the past, with no problems....guess some other time.....

Downloaded in 5 minutes @ 4Mb/s approx without issues. Unzipped the 2 files into an empty temp folder and double clicked the exe installer file. Followed the text instructions and received the registration key via email halfway through the installation process. Added the registration key to complete the installation process. The program installed without issue on Windows 10 64bit Ver. 1903 Build 18362.418 and Home Design 5 ran fine, although startup and closing popups for further AShampoo products are evident..a minor annoyance. Will get my wife who is a graphic designer to test the program properly later.

Slow download and no problem installing. The program itself is slow, ugly looking, and not very user friendly.

Ashampoo does it again...thanks you for the offer.

I had Version 3 and decided to try this one. It has the kinks ironed out and has some great additions.

Yes, it took quite a while to download but it extracted without issues and installed without issues. I set up an account with Ashampoo which seems to streamline the registration process.

Thanks for another great offer!

I have installed twice with no problem other than the UI is in German which I do not read! Both times installing "English" was then selected (default) language prior to starting the install.

Razu, You go to their page and it asks you for your email address. Then it gives you a place to click and see your registration #.

Although I didn't have much trouble downloading, I cannot install. I have tried multiple times. I downloaded it to a "Downloads" folder, extracted the 2 files, and ran the executable. I got a splash screen when the installation began, then it disappeared. I though it must be installing behind the scenes, but then I realized it had just quit on me. I looked in Task Manager and there were no related processes. So I tried again, then I tried again after re-dowloading, thinking that maybe my download got hosed. No luck. I was going to re-download and install again until I figured I'd then be fulfilling the popular definition of insanity.

BTW, I also checked my security suite logs (Bit Defender) to see if the installer tripped something there. Nothing.

Any advice is welcome.

Any advice for post Nr. 1 ?

Reply   |   Comment by Dan  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Dan,
I would start over. Delete original download and then delete the program completely using Revo Uninstaller or any other program that will delete the install completely. Then download the program again to a new saved location and re-install to a different drive if possible or a least to a different location. Dave

autotran, thank you!
I deactivated antivirus, uninstalled and deleted with Revo Uninstaller. Downloaded again, reinstalled, same result. I gave up and will uninstall. I use win8.1 64 Bit system.

I didn't have the same degree of download slowness that others experienced. It's a 1.1GB file. Here in Ohio I averaged approximately 4MB per second with no issues.

I will install it a bit later and comment on the installation and functionality

A few things:
(1) What is the licensing on this version?
(2) Will updates be available, or is this a standard GOTD offering that is pretty much "stand-alone"?
(3) The program's home page says the price is $21.00 ("slashed" from $49.99), so the $49.99 price shown in GOTD is misleading.

Something strange with the download ... When trying to download the progress bar shows 0.2/1.1Gb and the remaining time constantly jumps between 13 and 23 minutes, progress bar doesn't move. Have made a number of attempts to download but same happens every time, even clearing cookies and browser casch makes no differance.

Very very slow download - aproximately 300kB/sec on my 50Mb/sec line.

Huge, but installed and registered fine in Win 10 x64. Thanks!

AnAceBuyer,
Same here, downloaded in less than 10 minutes (50MB/sec Verizon FIOS line) and then installed in less than 4 minutes on my 1TB SSD C: drive. I was on AOL when I downloaded and I saved the zip file to my HGST 3TB D: drive. Opened it and everything seemed to work fine. I haven't really tried it yet.

Apparently it is going to take over 1 hour to download the app, and that is on a 100Mb/sec link.
And that is using Edge - seems like it is not responding when using other browsers.

If it is indeed over 1GB, then some warning on the download link page would have been appreciated - especially for those with slower links such as those using BT lines

jamies,

FYI, just below the System Requirements the file size is always mentioned for every giveaway.

Update to the earlier post:
yes - about an hour to download the 1.1GB zip file, that then expanded to mostly a 1.1GB setup.exe, and the install of the app took about another 20 minutes (on a fast hard drive) to take up at least another 1.45GB as its main folder structure (plus whatever went into the windows folders and control structures.)
So: allow at least 90 minutes, and 4GB for the download and install
OK - you can lose the 2.2GB of download and unpacked install files - as those files will be useless after today!

Still not an install that should be undertaken on a small system (less than 64GB of storage) or with a slow download.

Noted the NOT for commercial use in the licence -
and from the wizard - the first page for a 'Design" asks for "Customer No" and "Planner" name etc.

App seems to function without any initial glitches in the processing.
Maybe I'll try creating a home layout later
Perhaps I'll get the roof .dll file glitch then.

The reported E:\DOWNLOADS seems to me to indicate a glitch with the web transit - so just redo the download - well what's a hour or 2 and 1GB of data going to cost you

jamies, Use mozilla firefox.
One up to date speedy internet browser !
Edge is rubbish.
The interface is like the old 'Interner explorer.' from Microsoft.
Best regards Rik
