Ashampoo Backup 2023 was available as a giveaway on July 21, 2023!
If you've ever stared at a black screen because your Windows refused to boot, you'll appreciate the value of regular backups. And it can be so easy! Only backups will protect you against impending data loss, as caused by ransomware, corrupt operating system or disks.
Ashampoo Backup 2023 is the fool-proof backup software to save your files. The program backs up and restores entire partitions and disks in just a few clicks. Benefit from automated backups and fuss-free file recovery through the built-in rescue system!

This backup program has a few issues to be considered:
1) Individual files within a specified hard drive can NOT be backed up. Only the entire drive is possible.
2) The time to create a large backup is about 5 times longer than an imaging type backup program.
3) The size of the backup on disk is about 4 times larger than an imaging type backup program.
4) Uninstalling Backup 2023 proved to be difficult. Revo Uninstaller failed when tried.

I'm not happy with this software. It has the option to create a rescue media (USB, CD, DVD, etc), but it can only recover from previously created backup.
No option to create a backup from the rescue media. Most of the competitor's software has such option.
Not useful to me.

How to do incremental file backups?

Ashampoo Backup 2023 works, but in trying too hard to make it idiot proof, Ashampoo left out many functions &/or features that really should be there. I could see recommending Ashampoo Backup 2023 to say, completely tech-adverse parents living too far away for you to easily setup scheduled backups using another brand of software, but otherwise there are too many alternatives that are more capable, and of course you can always skip backing up entirely -- Windows 10 & 11 can reinstall / restore themselves from the boot menu, so you mainly need to make sure stuff like personal photos & docs are reliably stored somewhere else, e.g., the cloud. If you do use any backup app, including Windows own [it's still there from Win7], make sure the bootable USB sticks you create with the software actually work -- Many will not.
Bear in mind that later this year Microsoft is changing the way that Windows boots [how it starts when the device is turned on or restarted] to discourage certain types of malware. They've already warned that once that change goes into effect, backups and bootable USB sticks made before the change will no longer work, ever.

mike, Sorry to be late in replying (and mb off topic), but could you provide a link to the announcement about Microsoft changing the way Windows boots. I could not find it with a few quick web searches.

Does this backup everything as a "zip" file...or does it back up individual files? I would prefer a "mirror image" of all the files being backed up. Thanks.

Is there an option to create a bootable rescue USB drive?

Bai ti Ganio,
I have been using this backup software for years and have found it to be the best I have tried. Yes, you are able to easily create a bootable disc or flash drive to restore a backup file.
