Followed the directions, installed and registered with no problems (as soon as I realized the serial number email was in my spam folder - a very rare occurance). Program does a unique job of making my photos look painted, very nice in that regard. What's not nice is how long it takes to do any disk access. Takes long enough for me to wonder what's happening, launch Windows Task Manager to see what's going on, see the CPU activity climb from under 10% to 20% and on up over 50% before the program's file selector gave me some contents to choose from. And that's not on a folder with thousands of files. Maybe it has to scan the entire disk, or from the starting path down through every folder and sub folder? No other program I've used has ever taken this long, or used up so much of my computer, to simply let me choose a file. If jixipix would fix this, they might have a good program. It makes me wary of trying any of the other programs. I'm on Windows 10/64, 16 GB ram, SSD for programs, lots of free HDD space where pics are stored. Nothing else was active at the time (though several tabs were open in Chrome and a spreadsheet in Libre Office and my file manager. Nothing that causes other programs to stumble so badly.

I tried it at 8 pm and the registration process on fastsprings.com worked. They sent an email with the subject: Your Order: Aquarella [JIX200807-1967-64 ...] Thank you for your order!

Your order is currently processing. You will receive additional information via a separate email. but I didn't receive an email. So I decided to wait until morning, but I didn't get any mail from fastsprings.com. so I tried to re-enter the data into the form from fastsprings.com and it just said this: "GOTD5EDDT is not a valid coupon." :-(

Is this Aquarella version 1.38 a Greek version of Sketch Drawer Pro from SoftOrbits?
Which software is better?

Worthless, I followed the read me file exactly. Tried several times and it always returned a 15 digit number. But the registration requires a 16 digit number.

Went through the hoops. Did not receive final email with the registration code. Not worth my time to try and discuss, if I have to spend so much time just registering. You can keep this one.

Followed the directions and program installed perfectly. Just one question:

The enclosed readme file says "Strictly non-commercial usage", yet when I installed, the licensing agreement says:

"SOFTWARE PRODUCT COPYRIGHT
a) SOFTWARE PRODUCT is for personal, commercial use, non-profit organization, educational purpose. You are allowed to use the output of any JixiPix SOFTWARE PRODUCT for any purpose as long as the bulk of the output is images or data created by you (70% or above). Any output that falls below the threshold will be considered created by JixiPix Software and cannot be sold, transferred, or used in another work (either SOFTWARE PRODUCT or personal use). "

If I want to use this for commercial use, am I covered? Or would I have to uninstall this version and buy it?

Had to receive 3 emails to complete registration. First one with a link to the website which did not work. Then after commenting here, received a second email saying my order was "processing" and I would receive another email. Only in the 3rd email was the registration serial number that finally did activate the program. The program looks great but the process of registration was ridiculous and time consuming, leaving a bitter taste.

P SILVA, I downloaded the software, installed it, and did the 3-step registration and ordering process to get the registration key - in total it took 6 minutes, of which 4 was the actual downloading time. I took longer to write this comment! What on earth is it that is so difficult for so many?

Followed the instructions to the letter. Completed the order with (unfortunately)personal information and received the email. There was no license key in the email, just a link back to FastSpring website. There was nothing but an 18 digit order number that the program would not accept. It will not allow typing in the register area. When cutting and pasting the order number, it eliminates the letters and only takes the 15 digit numbers and then says it is invalid and needs a 16 digit serial number. Have gone round and round with this several times. When using the link in the email a second time, it takes you to the website but says "coupon=giveawayoftheday.com" is not a valid coupon and wants to charge 19.99. This is turning into a great waste of time and cannot register the product.

Followed the instructions to the letter. Got all the way through the order and there was no "serial number" just an 18 character (3 letter and 15 numbers) order number. Copied that but the program will not accept it. When cutting and pasting, the program eliminates the letters and then says the numbers are not sufficient. It needs a 16 digit number. Have tried several times to no avail. Cannot register the product even after supplying unnecessary personal information to this company.

Aris Sinatsakis,

Yeah, here's and idea: FOLLOW THE LINK. Then fill in a massive amount of personal information, then wait for 2 emails to arrive. One is an order confirmation and one is the serial number you need to register.

The JixiPix company wants to know all Your personal data with telephone number etc, but they don't give any their contact details. You can't find on the JixiPix web site, any contact informations (phones, adresses etc).
This is not fair. This is suspicious.

As others have said, the registration process is somewhat convoluted (hint: "terminate the order" means complete it, don't cancel it. And...the JIX number given after completion is NOT the serial number - it is sent in a separate email.)

Having said that, seems to be nice, light, fast software. Converts images to watercolor faster than Photoshop CC 2020, in my couple of experiments.

Something for the developers - there needs to be a File > Close option (if there is, I can't find it). I see that you can drag a new image on top of another, but does that automatically close the first image?

Minor issues. Thanks for the giveaway!

Once it's installed the results are pretty good, some effects are better than others but overall a decent result and worth having around if you do a lot of photo editing etc.

The only problem is I now feel like a dolphin after jumping through so many hoops just to get it installed!

Why so many downvotes for such a super piece of software?

If you're having trouble with the install, it's probably because you're intellectually challenged, NOT because the process doesn't work (it does - perfectly).
Please don't downvote a product just because you're too dumb to figure out how to install it.

Tony Bennett, you'll be aware it's not your responsibility, or mine, or anyone else who is a prospective user of this software and prospective Aquarelle customer, to "sort out" a mess as amateurish as today's. Incidentally, what you received by email was a LICENSE CODE. I know it will come as big a surprise to you as it did to me, but today's software doesn't use license codes but. . . 'serial numbers'. And wants you to devote a good portion of your life to awaiting the arrival of same. from someone. Somewhere.

Reply   |   Comment by Peter Wilkinson  –  3 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

Tony Bennett, What you recieved by email was a COUPON CODE.

Simply go to the Jixipix site, put Aquarella in your shopping basket then enter the coupon code during the checkout process for a 100% discount.

It's all explained in the Readme file.

Okay, so I traced the installation and it seems well behaved, only installing reasonable looking stuff in the correct places.
It also didn't get unhappy when I threw a 50MP image into it.
Paper Style 7 seems a good point to start, the others seem to put too much annoying texture onto the image (6 is worth a look though). Note the styles along the bottom will change all the settings. I assume that's all they do, just a collection of settings for the right hand panel, plus you can add your own.
Turning up the colour detail is also worthwhile if there is some finer detail in the image.
I think overall I'm happy with it. I managed in a relatively short time to get an image I was pretty happy with - worth a go IMHO!

For the second time recently with GAotD downloads Chrome says it can't be downloaded securely (presumably the final link is not a secure one) and suggests discarding it...
I was hoping to see how it compared with Waterlogue...

Okay, so I downloaded it from their website and I get an identical Windows executable as is included in the Zip from GAotD.
Also on installing it says it's version 1.23 but it did install 1.38
The process to register is way too complicated though.

Registration is fun. Register at this site to get an email. Click the link in the email to go to a store at FastSpring to enter a lot of personal information. Thankfully, you can enter a lot of zeroes - address of 000, county of 000, etc.
Annoyingly (on Windows, anyway) it installs into a JixPix folder, rather than an Aquarella folder, so in a couple of months when you want to run it, you have to remember the company who made it, not the product name. /grrrr/
Loading an image from the clipboard would be handy, rather than having to save a photo from an online library, then load it back up.
Overall, the results were very good. We had to put our cat down recently, so an image I've got of her (https://pasteboard.co/JleISbQ.png) turned into a 'painting' (https://pasteboard.co/JleJJM1.jpg). Nice that there is enough cat detail, but the book detail is 'lost'. There are many styles to choose (here's another https://pasteboard.co/JleKpDP.jpg) and each one can be tweaked further - a lot of options.
Slap this on a canvas print, and it would look pretty good.
