Angel's Vox 1.6 was available as a giveaway on October 15, 2011!
Angel's Vox is the very first audio player for Windows designed specifically for audio book listeners. It remembers the last played track and position after an interruption in listening. With its help you are able to speedup book's playback without the chipmunk effect, or to slow down the playback when you cannot recognize the speech (e.g., when you are learning a foreign language).
By using our audio book player, you can maintain a library of your audio stories. You can configure a different volume level and playback speed for each one, and their settings will be restored when you replay them. Their track position will also be restored to the exact point where you have stopped listening to them.
Angel's Vox is integrated with Audiobook Downloader Pro, and, like other media player programs, it can be embedded into Windows Explorer for quick access to its major functions. Extra features include the sleep timer, skinnable interface, Windows 7 taskbar support, and support of multimedia keys.

It is primarily intended for accelerating audiobooks as well as podcasts, but can be used with any other sound track for sure. The batch processing feature and convenient user interface make ASCP a valuable tool for owners of smart phones and portable MP3 players.
Post not approved? Okay, let me try this- I was finally able to learn how to copy the registration information from the admin account to the user account (it was a file on disk rather than a registry key) which also helped with the last superutil software provided here as well, exif cleaner. I now do not need to run this program as an administrator. If superutils is reading this, a big thanks for putting your software up here but I hope in the future you will have an option to install for all users rather than just the account that runs the installation file, which in the case of this software has to be an admin account.

#17: Trying reading the box under the picture:
"System Requirements: Windows XP/ Vista/ 7"
That's there on every GoTD. I'll tell you up front that very few of these are available for Mac, though.

Norton wouldn't let me download it saying it was unsafe because there were few downloads (okay whatever), but I got around it and downloaded the program. Thanks GAOTD and SuperUtilities. This is a very nice program to listen to my audiobooks.

Angel's Vox is good. Does what it says. Easy to use.
Thanks SuperUtils/AngelVox + GOTD.
The software has ability to resume playing the same file where you last left. If you played another file then you cannot resume where you left off in the first file. This is different from bookmark. Bookmark allows you to go to a specific place in a particular audio book/file even if you had played other audio books in between.
For others who are looking for alternatives, check out AIMP a terrific freeware audio player that can play back various audio formats with plug-ins, has a digital counter as your file plays, and the ability to BOOKMARK the file you are playing. You can also note the digital counter number where you left off, if you prefer not to bookmark. It works just like the tape counter in the cassette tape decks we used to have, and which are now obsolete.
Another alternative for Nokia mobile phone users is the Nokia Audio Book Manager application which is now discontinued, but still available for download for Nokia registered users. It had rave reviews by users and also has ability to bookmark.

@ #34 What purpose does it serve to people who don't read audiobooks? None at all! Why on earth would you expect it to 'serve a purpose' that it isn't designed to do? If you don't listen to audiobooks, don't download the product. Simple!
No one is forcing you to download it. It's not compulsory in any means.

Think of those who want to learn -for example- to play the guitar, to replay what they hear, but only in slow motion, while the pitch hasn't changed a single yota...
And as a lightning-fast starting mp3-player, too :-)))

While I am totally unimpressed by the news that "Angel’s Vox is integrated with Audiobook Downloader Pro" I am even less impressed by those people triumphantly announcing that they are uninstalling this programe just because Audiobook Downloader Pro is trialware. I'm referring to #12, #13 and the dozens of people who thumbed them up. For Pete's sake - the web has been available for general public use for 20+ years! Have you people still not figured out how to use Google, or how to download your own files?
There's far too many people who come to this site and grandly proclaim their own ignorance, as though it's something to be proud of, as though developers are somehow obliged to act as childminders, and as though everyone else is supposed to be interested. It's not, they're not, and we're not. Grow up.

Windows XP-Pro 64
Downloaded and installed with no problems.
That is unfortunately the only good thing I have to say about it.
I give this program a solid thumbs down.
The narrator voice was not relaxing or enjoyable.
I downloaded the book downloader pro, that took me back to dial up connection speeds. (reason for this line is to tell you not to bother)
The Angel’s Vox 1.6 will load mp3 into the library, not very versatile.
Won't set up to read off your screen.
This software seems totally out dated.
Thanks GAOTD Team for nice versatility in programs.

@#17 this won't work on a Mac.
The "system requirements" show it will work with Windows XP/ Vista/ 7
Usually companies will list the systems on their web pages and show if its compatible with Macs.
This software is quite good as I had gotten it in the previous giveaway.
Don't use it too often but its always there if needed.

It is a very good program and a definite keeper for me :)

Installed on thumb drive using Portable Apps free gui. Installed and ran perfectly. Running on Windows 7 with no issues with Admin privileges. Shows as registered to GOTD 10/15/2011
#19 arturo fuentes said "nice piece of software that does exactly what it claims to — read e-books". I am guessing you meant audio books.
Seems like a nice product. My conundrum is that when I do listen to audio books its typically on my MP3 player, say on a car drive, train ride, jogging, etc. I rarely sit at my PC listening to an audio book.

What possible purpose would this serve one who does NOT listen to audio books? What?

I downloaded it about an hour ago with no problem, then I went to books shoul be free, com and downloaded a book, started listening to the book after I finally figured out how to import it. Thank you GOTD and super utils.

Sigh. Yet another giveaway that registers itself under admin account only. Running it as standard user produces an unregistered dialog. They also don't store the registration info in the usual place to copy it from the admin registry to my user registry. Thanks, but I won't be running this if I have to enter my admin password every time. (Win 7 Pro x64)
Unless someone from super utils would like to instruct me in registering this software properly..?

Same question as #22. Noticed May 9, 2010 promo for v. 1.4 stated: "Angel’s Vox is the first audio player and ebook reader" The second feature is not repeated on current offering. Could anyone please confirm if 1.6 "reads" ebooks?
Thanks

I got version 1.4 from gotd and it works as stated, but
when speeding up audio book I can understand it, but quality of regular speed is gone!! Seems this would be good for students
who lack time and need to get book done for report! But for me
the benefit of rhis player - not sure there is one??

Thank you! I've been using this since the last time it was a gaotd, and it is terrific. Works great on Win 7 32-bit. It has a nice feature set, and I especially like that it automatically starts the book where you last stopped listening.

I found this software very interesting with its function for setting the tempo and a function of 5 seconds forward or backward with arrows. We can already use it as a mini lab for language learning .
With a minimal programming the editor could implement an AB repeat function found on some digital voice recorders for more accuracy on forward or backward and we would have a super tool for facilitate languages learning.

It can not read some of my older Audio books and few from Amazon audio-books from 2005. It says file is not compatible. Uninstalling.

Great product especially for those who want to learn foreign languages...so I highly recommend it!!
But, what if we could create for FREE an audiobook on our own in MP3 Format and then listen it with Angel's Vox or whatever else MP3 Player??
Impossible deed you say?? Certainly NOT...LOL!!

Thank you GAOTD and SuperUtilities. I got this last time but my laptop ceased to work and the backups must have contained same issue so, I lost it and many other great giveaways. I am very grateful you continue to re-offer software that has appeared before. I had the portable version last time but, frankly, did not really need the portable bit.
Downloaded cleanly, Set Up was a breeze and once GAOTD confirmed, I did not need a reg key, it is all ready to go: indeed I suddenly was listening to The Gettysburg Address :-)
So, folks, stop looking for registration keys - you do not need them.
Thanks again. My blind and almost deaf Mother thanks you too!

I'm very happy with v1.5, which I use for podcast listening while working on the computer. Key features I like in 1.5 for podcasts.
- terrific pitch-corrected speedup, using a sliding bar, in hundredths up to 2.00x.
- skip keys: 5 sec. (left/right arrow keys) or 30 sec. forward ("s").
- remembers place in audiobook across shutdowns.
- delete podcast(s) from playlist, or drag-down option to physically delete from your computer.
I normally open a directory of iTunes podcasts, and over days or weeks go through listening to them at high speed (like 1.4x), deleting the ones I've listened to.
When working on other stuff on your computer, pausing requires an extra click, to bring the program to the forefront. I wonder if one can assign function keys or something to some of these controls, like Play/Pause and the skip-forward keys, so we can operate them even when we're working in a browser or a word processor?
SuperUtils stuff has been completely robust. I'm befuddled that this is getting a User Rating below 50%. I would think it would be 75% or higher. Yeah, I do wish pricing were different, like $19.99 with specials at $9.99. That seems more reasonable for the feature set.
Thumbs up!

I like to play with simple programs. I think I will keep this one just because it is made in Delphi. The program keeps the database using Accuracer Database System from AidAim Software inside a single file. The sound platform is Bass Audio Library from Un4seen Developments.
To #16: For some reason the program is unable to read the license. Reinstalling may fix the problem. Make sure the correct rights are given to the application.

#7, "1.0 (December 11, 2009)
The first public release of Angel’s Vox."
Which in itself is remarkably recent... I find it hard to believe no-one else had implimented and published an audio book reader before 2009! That warrents a little google research...
Ok found something http://www.codeproject.com/KB/audio-video/abcPlayer.aspx
from its version history:
"•Version 1 was published in September 2008
•Current download: Version 2.4"
or an even earlier audio book player:
ViddyMP3 1.5 last updated Mar 5 2008
http://web.archive.org/web/20080705172651/http://www.mallcruiser.com/
There are others out there so looks like the claim to be "the very first" is at best wishfull thinking on the part of superutils.com

"Angel’s Vox is integrated with Audiobook Downloader Pro"
Well, it is, but only when you install ADPro. Angel's Voice DOES NOT have ADPro built in.
Unfortunately, Audiobook Downloader Pro is 30 days trialware, it's not freeware.

1.5.6.93 was the previous version offered and it was portable - this one does not seem to be, so rather than lose that, I'll pass on the newer version. Haven't "read" many audio books recently, but it worked fine the last time I used it, so I'll just continue with it, thanks anyway. For anyone new, please try it and comment on the features; for me, (the older version) installed, worked, and seemed fairly intuitive, no problems to report, so try this one.

To the best of my knowledge I believe there are a few audio players that have been designed specifically for audio book listeners. When I read SuperUtils.com's claim that their Angel's Vox product is the first (i.e. one of a kind), it makes me question their credibility and integrity and steer clear, which is unfortunate, because Angel's Vox may be a decent product.

Dear users, this is a quick start guide for the audio book player "Angel’s Vox":
1. Download and install the program, then run it. The giveaway edition is already activated, so you do not need to deal with serial numbers.
2. Click the Edit -> Add Files(s) / Add Directory command and add book’s files to the file list.
3. Hit the Library -> Add to Library menu command to name the current audio book.
4. If you want to add one more book into the library, call Library -> Create New, and repeat steps 2-3.
5. You can switch between audio books by double-clicking on a book’s item in the Library list. The audio book player will automatically remember the last played track & position for each book, as well as other playback parameters (the volume level, playback rate, tempo and pitch).
To learn more about the player, check out the following reviews:
Video review by Tufoxy (Angel’s Vox v1.5)
