I love this screen saver; I sometimes just sit and watch it.
I am AMAZED at the complexity of the program; all the different views, PLUS the real time option is brilliant.
So soothing and enjoyable to view!
Thanks SO much, for providing this and all the other wonderful offerings.
The children who dismiss it need some manners(IMHO)

Comment On: Clock Tower 3D Screensaver v1.0: This screensaver isn't any good to what i'd thought that it might be and i did leave a comment for the other screensaver that's showen on another website and i'd got it wrong. sorry about that.
I've not tried: Ancient Castle 3D Screensaver , yet but i'll have a look into it as to downloading it and then adding another comment if that can be done in here.

I Loved the pictures and the music that came with the screen saver but I didn't appreciate the facet that my every keystroke was recorded. Thanks but no thanks guys.

"Giveaway" should mean that they're totally free, yet after this screensaver runs for a minute or even less it gives you this big message over the beautiful scenery saying you must upgrade! It's a great screensaver, but they wasted my time downloading it without telling me it would be no good unless I paid to upgrade. :(

Madz,
It states the error report was created by Planesoft so, not the Windows report to MS. It doesn't actually ask for an email address, but it attempts to send it through Outlook so, they'll get your return e address.

I could be wrong, but as I mentioned thier seems to be no error and, well, guess I'm not so trusting when it comes to giving benefit of doubt with this stuff.

I like the screensaver. I am not a newbie to computers either. The music a scenes are real serene. People need to have more relaxed atmospheres. I installed it, and currently am using it. Thanks, it is very much appreciated by me.

Hey I happen to love this screensaver! Thank you GAotD. No it may not be perfect but I'm getting the opportunity to wander around an ancient castle without the hassles of needing to blow up or confront my opponent in the video game version and that's just fine with me.
Not to mention, it's worth the cost... :)

@#184 kenny : is it error from windows? some application that run on windows will be asked to do error reporting by windows if it got crashed. So it is actually reporting to windows, not to the software company..and as far as I know, it doesn't ask for email...

Nice screen saver. Good music and sound effects.
Only question I have is why a "screensaver" would need or have keylogging functions built into it?
I uninstalled it after discovering this.
Thanks for the free stuff GOTD but you might want to check out the companies you get these from a little closer.

Please comment only the software here. If you have technical problems or suggestions on our project, please leave us a note in our forums.

Just so I'm straight on the rules, If we have technical problems with the software, it should not be posted here and some posters suggest complaints should not be posted here so, all that leaves is compliment the software or say nothing? Only way I see that happening is if GOTD edits and refuses to allow certian posts in, and in all fairness as well as from what I've seen here, GOTD is not going to do that and will allow all to say as they wish. And I for one appreciate that, GOTD.

As for the screensavers, I don't use them either, but did download this just to check it out and is seems to work perfectly, but when I click the "Ancient Castle 3D Screensaver" icon that the install leaves on my desktop and I guess this is to just preview the screensaver, I click out after previewing and get an error that states the SC has encountered an error, "would you like to send an error report" If you click "send" it attempts to send an email to the maker. Thing is, there is nothing wrong with the software, no error, so, somebody correct me if this sounds paranoid, but I can only assume this is an attempt to harvest email addresses. Sure, I don't have to send it and will not, but some will.

I'm mainly curious if anyone else is getting this error thing and if not, I'll be less suspicious.

After reading the other reviews, I took another look at this and have decided it's worth a thumbs-up. While the graphics are dated (reminds me of the original Doom), they demand little of the CPU and video card (in fact, so little CPU that my computer will automatically enter standby while this is running). As I stated in comment #43, most people can use their graphics driver to enable anisotropic filtering and anti-aliasing, which improves quality. The low graphics requirements enables this to be run at very high resolutions easily.

The water and birds add life to an otherwise lifeless and sterile scene. The sound effects are good (I consider them an essential part of a good animation), the music varies, there are numerous camera paths, and the time of day (and therefor lighting/color and sky, including the sun, moon, and stars) changes.

I was going to post some high-resolution (as well as filtered and anti-aliased) screenshots, but GOTD quit updating the comments in the evening, as they usually do.

For those getting "unregistered" on it, you need to click the other .exe prior to clicking the setup.exe icon. The other .exe file registers the program and enters a serial number in the registry which you will have to go and export out and save if you want to be able to install this screensaver anytime in the future in the event of a reformat.

I love this screensaver. It's a bit on the graphic heavy side to be an actual screensaver, but it's wonderful to just watch. As someone who does 3D Graphics, I can appreciate the time and effort that went into the graphics and modelling of this screensaver. Thank you very much. Your efforts and generosity are greatly appreciated.

I'm one of those who like screensavers, if only to add a little variety to what awaits after I've walked away from the computer for a while. Glad I read the posts from those of you who took the time to write something thoughtful, if not useful; appreciate it. BladedThoth was pretty right-on about this, too! Haven't checked yet for anything funky, like the total altering of the power scheme from Rixane's Green Fields, which was commented on after I had already installed what's proven to be just a so-so screensaver. Haven't restored those settings, and I'm still not pleased by the "sneaky" manipulation... This Ancient Castle may not be great, but it's pretty cool and should be better once I adjust the settings. Was a bit larger of a download than I'd realized, but that was my fault for not checking in the first place, and I have plenty of disk space, so it's OK. Many thanks!

I do not wish to seem ungrateful since you gave me this item for nothing, but don't you think it would have been fair to warn us beforehand that the screensaver would be partially obliterated by an intrusive "unregistered" notice which can only be removed if one BUYS the blasted thing?!

I'm not sure which is worse...those whining about free software, or those whining about whiners. sheeeesh. Everybody has an opinion about what GOTD offers each and every day. Some like it, some don't. Each side has the perfect right to express their comment in, get this, a comment section. Some folks around here seem to get so upset about negative comments that perhaps they should avoid reading them in the first place. After all, like downloading the software, nobody is making you do it.

Thank You GAOTD for posting this free screen saver. As always I am truly thankful for the free software and programs you make available and now even the occasional screen saver.

Could you possibly post some more programs with web design templates...

Some have been quick to diss screensavers, but I have bought 6 of theirs because their water effects are really nice. Their tropical fish has absolutely AMAZING water and lighting and far surpasses any others I've seen. Plus you can demo all of 'em.

While I've had trouble with screensavers before, I consider 3planesoft's work worthwhile (and worth the moneh) even when used merely as standalone entertainment, particularly for my children.

Thank you, this really looks cool but unfortunately I cannot get it to work even with the latest driver (v7.14.10.1132) for the Intel 945gm express chipset family. I get the following error message: "Display driver igfx stopped responding and has successfully recovered." Rats. I guess it's back to the boring old Vista logo screensaver that was installed at the factory.

Thanx GtoD! This is the 3rd give-away that I have downloaded. I try to read all the comments on the product to help me decide, but because of all the people who post saying they don't need, don't like what you've chose for the day or just want to whine, sometimes it takes awhile to decide. Actually what we need is a tool that strips all those posts out of your comments and just presents the ones that gives info on the offered product. A whiner zapper!

Very nice! Thanks GOTD! I am not much of one for screensavers either, running my Picasa screensaver from a folder of pretty pictures (and before that Webshots for maybe 4 years) but this one is my brand new, non-photo one since it is really pleasant to watch! Good job developers of the castle! I really liked the subtle effect of the tree in the lazy breeze especially!

Don't you complainers ever get tired? Gaotd does not have to provide this service, you know. I can't imagine how discouraging you are to them. And I assume the negative votes are not for the software itself, but rather a reflection of how you are feeling about the download of the day. It would be great if you complainers started up a topic in the forum and you may find more congruous readers. That way, these figures might pertain more to the function of the software, like they are supposed to.

For those of you who have discovered the free animated wallpapers from Elefuns website, you can run applications with no trouble at all; however if you wish to play a game the animated wallpaper needs to be turned off otherwise it will crash your games (that's any game) within seconds of trying to boot them up.

They are still worth the download if you are into changing your wallpapers frequently. They are giving a different one away every day. Today’s, which is called Dragonfly is the best one I've downloaded so far (only downloaded three). Nice work
Elefun.....perhaps you should sell the program that makes the wallpapers as I would love to make these.

My 2nd post on this program;

I have watched the scrensaver program for quite sometime, and I now leave my pc on just to see what will appear next. Different music, never ending changing sceens - just amazing and a beautiful work and labor of love.

If anyone can't like this than you will never like screensavers.

I repair pc's and I hope 3planesoft will allow me to install their screensavers (trial versions) on the pc's I return to my customers.

And again, average pc's are not equiped from the supplier to run powerful 3D screensavers unless you have a late model and top-end expensive pc. You need more ram and an ad-on video card with on board memory to fully enjoy this and most any good screensaver such as the quality of this one.

So, for those who do like screensavers - that's ok. But if you complain and not have the necessary memory, cpu speed, and an add-on video card - then you are complaining out of ignorance. This is one that I leave my download pc running while I repair other pc's.

Thankyou GAoTD and 3planesoft for a beautiful piece of software.

Thanks,
Ken

The screen saver is just beautiful. I takes you on to the bridge to look over the waterfall, through the castle and around the ground.
Very artistic and well done
Dot listen to the whiners, download it.
A good screen saver is a nice conversation piece when your computer is in the living room, it is like having a moving picture to watch.
People should at least download and evaluate the software before they complain.
Very nice, worth the time to download. thanks

I don't usually toy much with screensavers (although I have a few), but I have to say this is a nice one. It seems a bit laggy at first, and then smooths out(maybe it's just me, I'm not sure). I'd pay for it.
