I had a previous version of this program that was interfering with this installation, so what I did was to simply rename this file by adding 978 to the end of the name, and it then installed flawlessly. The registration was a snap, by following their directions. This is a great program -- definitely a keeper! Thanks so much!

Program downloaded and install onto Win7 64. Reg worked fine from zip file. Changed to portable mode and coped to flash drive fine. Had to re-import the zip license key after copying. I did install the "ImagesIntoHTML" plugin and it works however all the images that imported are stretched out of alignment. Looks like the web page I imported was using a table with images in each cell and after importing the hole page into AML did not like that.

I don't see any password protection offered.

All other tests I have done so far look very good. This may be a keeper.

Why is it that so many of those note-taking programs, while having a very attractive feature set on paper (I haven't installed this one), have a completely outdated, overburdened user interface ?

Tabs with vertical text, rotated sidewise ? Are you kidding me ? We're not in Windows XP times anymore. Have a look at Web services : beautiful and easy.

A note-taking application has to be simple. Don't flaunt your functions. I know you're a swell developer and can do many things. I don't care. Promise me it will be easy and fast. You can do some powerful things ? Fine. Hide them. Only show them to me when I need them.

And don't talk to me about "nodes". I don't know what a "node" is. Nobody does. People have documents, notes, pictures, Web pages... not "nodes". Talking about nodes to end users is very rude.

Clairvaux,
First of all, this isn't a "note-taking application", it is for doing things like research and most of the features in the software are sought after, especially by people like me. I'm unbelievably tired of "simple note-taking" apps that give me no options & have no features. It has taken me forever to find this.
Second of all, your comments about the interface are just ridiculous. I hate new web interfaces. They NEVER comply with my personal desktop settings & thus I am usually forced to use software that does this with their blaring, eye-searing white interfaces with pale, bright colors on top of it.

Windows 10 installed fine but no spell check so:
Installed the spell check plugin (esential component for me) It runs but suggests that every word in the document is spelt wrong (which they are not) and fails to make suggested replacements. It says that it is checking against US and UK English (2 out of 5 languages). I tried to install the english dictionary again from the web site. Still won't work. Without a quick solution I will un-install.

I also installed the English spell check and it did not work. I see the message in this forum saying its broken.

For some reason, I've never managed to use the previous GOTD version 9.66. Now that I'm willing to do so, there's a little problem -- the UI doesn't respect the colors: menu items are black on dark blue, pretty much unreadable, while the theme is black over light blue (Windows 7 UI colors). This isn't an incentive to make use of this software. Besides, the background color of the menu is not that of the Windows background color. How to change the menu colors?

More precisely, the colors of the menu and the dropdown items are very inconsistent. Some respect the Windows theme, some are white on dark blue, some are black on dark blue; all kind of different colors on same dropdown. There doesn't seem to be a rule, i.e. no rule. Strange, isn't it?

papin, That is super strange. I'm using it in W7 right now and don't have these issues. I use custom Windows themes, too, which often cause me problems with software UI's not behaving. It looks like it should on my computer. Confused as to why this is happening to you.

Look at TreeDBNotes (Free)
It does much the same, is reliable, I've been using for over 4 years with no problems, the only (minor) niggle is that the Free Version won't open one of a number of "DB" from the command line, you have to start the main program then open the required DB. But as it's free I can live with that

Doug Barnes, No it doesn't. Not even close. It is missing way too many important features that AMLpages has, and I know because I've tried a huge amount of these types of software, looking for what I want. I wouldn't recommend TreeDBNotes to anyone for an alternative to this. It's good for basic notes. That's it.

Download, install and reg all done with out a hitch. The registration process is very straight forward and quick, no messing about with having to go to another website to get the serial number. Have only given this a quick test and from what I've seen it looks like something I could make good use of. If it proves to be as good as it appears to be I'll give serious consideration to buying myself a copy. Thanks.

To complex for what it does, no search as you type, for node names or content.

Reply   |   Comment by ew  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+13)

ew, How is it too complex? Why do people constantly complain about this in good software? I'm sorry, but the rest of us like options. It sucks to be boxed in with no options because some users can't figure out the interface of something. I think this software has a pretty straightforward set up & interface.... I like it.
