I tried 3 times to install but get this error:

The procedure entry point xvid_plugin_ssim could not be located in the dynamic link library D:\Program Files (x86)\Allavsoft\video Downloader Converter\avcodec-56.dll.

Is there another way to install this without giving an error?

Mike, All I can suggest is to check the version you have in the allavsoft directory is the one I gave, and if not look to see if one of the others is and replace it if so.

The prior giveaway version is one of my favorites. Once you get the sense of it, this becomes routine in
organizing your download. I also like the REC button, or the record button. I couldn't find any info on that
in the help file, but it is self explanatory. Click on the red REC button, then adjust the rectangle over your
video, then locate the object lower right corner and click that red REC button and quickly start your video.
At the end press ''stop'' and then save the recorded clip to your computer. Downloads are better, but
getting a screen capture is sometimes quicker for sending or even capturing a Powerpoint Presentation...

Installed, then installed the add- on for Chrome browser, but when I open Chrome- there no such add-on installed.

The button for Mozilla add-on is grayed.

Both browsers are up to date.

Any ideas, please?

There is no need to use the extension.
Simply install and run our Allavsoft and copy and paste the video or music url to Allavsoft to download the download.

This is inferior to all of the other downloaders I use, in that it doesn't identify and let you choose among all of the possible qualities of the files available to be downloaded at a URL (for example, 480p, 720p or 1080p). Nor does it give you any information about the sizes of the downloadable files. Ant, VideoProc and Wonderfox all give you this information, and are regularly available as giveaways. This program just gives you three choices (best available, normal, and low quality) with no usable information about the files. Why bother with Allavsoft?

Allan, Allavsoft also has this feature. You may set 720p, 1080p etc by click Option Menu - Preference... - Advanced Tab - Maximum Resolution of Normal Quality.
Allavsoft support more than 1000+ websites, and it support download the original source file or download and convert to almost all popular video format and audio format.

I was not aware of this, but it doesn't really change my opinion. I have uninstalled the program so I can't be sure, but if I read your reply correctly, it's possible to set the maximum resolution of a downloaded file as a program option applicable to all downloads, but it's not possible to see and choose among all of the available resolutions, or the file sizes, of the files that can be downloaded from a particular URL. This is very pertinent information that is shown in all four of the other downloaders that I use regularly, and its absence from the Allavsoft program is a crippling defect as far as I am concerned.

I just had to cycle through about 5 downloaders -- in succession -- in order to snag one troublesome .Mpg video clip. One of them finally succeeded, though under the circumstances it was not entirely clear *which*. THAT is WHY. You never know for sure WHICH program may succeed, or best succeed, in a given case, so it's best to have abundant options at your disposal.

It also has the Mac version.

David, Yes, it is, but whenever is possible I convert all my movies to HEVC. Same quality, at least for MY eyes, and about half of the size.

HEVC is either X265 or H265, not "4."
This latest high-compression format can be useful, but is far from being a universal standard. My older playback devices, which *still* have some unique or outstanding features in their favor, do not support HEVC. Since storage space is not an issue for me -- with the possible, exception of some (rare) upload scenarios -- I mostly choose to avoid it.

I have to assume that was a typo on your part, as HVEC and H264 are 2 different things. HVEC and H265 are the same, and I agree with you, definitely better quality at a much smaller file size with HVEC.

When I use my GMX email address, for some reason it recently has taken hours for GOTD to send it. When I use a 10minutemail address, it comes almost instantaneously! Give that a try.

I see I got a -1 for some reason. Perhaps somebody could explain what exactly you guys are getting (or not getting in this case) in your emails? I just clicked the green button and the zip file downloaded which included the installer and the serial number. There was nothing at all that came via email...

I'm unsure why the "-1" but there are 2 ways downloads seem to work on this site. Some are as you describe, click the green box and download. For others, when one clicks that green box they are asked to link to their social media or input their e-mail address which results in them getting an e-mail with a download link. The latter being what the OP was referencing and also how it worked for me on this giveaway as well. If it worked differently for you, I have no idea why as I always assumed it was one way or the other (direct link or e-mail) based on the giveaway and not differently based on the user.

I have seen the prompt that you are describing in the past, but have not seen that share on social media or get a link via email option in quite some time. I, like you, assumed that it would be the same for every user, but I guess that we now know otherwise. Mine was just a direct download, but apparently not for others, as you have confirmed.

Used this for several years. Got a new PC a year ago and purchased it. Well worth the price if you do any serious downloading. You are going to want to update as sites are ever changing their systems and downloads could stop (did so on several sites including YouTub).

If it is reported as Malware. Please contact your anti virus software to let them manually test our product.

It is a false positive.
Everytime we update our Allavsoft, it will be reported by some of the
anti virus software. After some time, when it is not newly updated, the report will automatically disappear.

Hilda, If you want to double-check a file for malware you can go to:
https://www.virustotal.com/gui/home/upload
and send them the file and they will run it through almost every anti-virus program out there. (Strictly it performs a hash on the file - i.e. makes a unique fingerprint - and only runs the AV software if it hasn't scanned the file before, otherwise just reports the previous result.)
I did this and it was fine, but test it yourself... especially the copy from your machine.
Or use HashCalc to calculate a hash of the file. The Allavsoft setup program iI have is:
SHA-256 510a313fe58ff026a596dbbca1616938f91cdd1817be8021cc84ae273545cd0e
There are lots of different Hashes, but VirusTotal seems to use SHA-256 as its key one.)

I agree with another poster here that they really should sign it, but it is a good program and I'd recommend it. Although there are some things the "WinX HD Video Converter" also given away here is better at downloading and some it's worse (it has a media downloader feature built-in).

As it has been reported by JohnL, today's giveaway is actually version 3.24.7.8183, whereas the one given away back on 2021-12-20 was version 3.24.0.7961.
Simple/easy and no issues with installing it on my laptop.
Had no problems in downloading a couple of mp4 videos from Youtube.

The ReadMe.txt provides a registration number but the program Registration asks for a License Number and a License Code.

How do I register?

I have installed AllavSoft 3.24 Lifetime, once looked at it and I come to the conclusion that the program I usually use to download movies is much easier to use. Collecting the name of the movie, (Moonfall 2022) and my program starts searching and then downloading. The subtitles can usually be found too! Then embed the subtitles with my free VideoToVideo converter.
So I have removed AllavSoft 3.24 Lifetime!

Have this from previous GAOD. Excellent program and updated to this new version. I am not sure lifetime license without updates will give you a functioning lifetime program though as software has to keep up with changes in websites they download from hence new version updates.

This is a later version (3.24.7) than the 3.24 given away previously and seems to need the new licence key (it didn't just work when I installed it over the previous 3.24.0). Note the archive you download contains just the licence info and the allavsoft installer, not a GAotD wrapper.
